e1337wifey says "A great way to unload all those books you'll never read again" about PaperBackSwap.com

I've used this site for about a year and have been very satisfied. Shipping generally costs between $2-$4 to send books out that you have posted and then you are issued a credit. When you use your credits, ordering a book costs nothing. The small shipping price is worth it for me since most mass market paperbacks run about $7.99. I've seen some people argue that the library is a better deal because it's free. If you enjoy frequenting the Hobo Hotel, then be my guest. Last I checked the library will ding your credit if you decide to keep their books. At PBS, you can keep the books or send them on. This is really great for me because there are very few books that I will ever re-read. If you don't receive your books, or the books arrive in tragic condition, you can get your credits refunded to you immediately , just by notifying the site. It is very quick and easy, I have done this before. As a shipper, I haven't had a book go missing yet, but I don't think it would be a problem...
...

snag says "Paperbackswap is one of my favorite sites on the web" about PaperBackSwap.com

Paperbackswap has saved me hundred of dollars, introduced me to new authors and is very convenient and easy to use. It's free to join, and they'll even give you 2 free credits for listing your first 10 books. The only required cost is for postage, which depending on the weight of the book can run around $2 and up per book. It works on the credit system. When someone requests your book, you package it and mail it (the sender pays for postage). When the book is received, you receive a credit that you can use to request any book you want. If the book you want isn't currently available in their huge inventory, you can add it to your wishlist and you'll be notified when the book is available for you to request. There are minimum condition guidelines for the books to help ensure that no one receives a nasty book, and there are procedures set up to handle those instances where the condition guidelines are not adhered to. They do have some additional optional features available for a nominal fee....
...

http://www.Paperbackswap.com is a great site if you love to read, & it's great if you like to recycle. You receive 2 credits for listing your first 10 books, then you may order books. It usually costs 1 credit for a paperback. You choose a book, & when you receive it you log-on and the person who sent it gets a credit. When someone chooses one of your books, you receive an e-mail, then it's easy to print a mailing label, wrap it & bring it to the post office. There is also an option where you may print a label with postage, I'm not sure if you pay by credit card only or if you can use a checking acct., since I haven't used this feature yet. If you choose to print the postage you get immediate credit & can leave the book for you postal carrier to pick up. It's a convenient way to get books and by swapping your books you can open up some space on your bookshelf. In this economy, why spend money for books if you can swap them? You can also swap hardcover books, CD's & DVD's...
...

I have saved SO much money using Paperbackswap.com. This website is AWESOME! There are over a million books to choose from. You list the books you are willing to trade, as do others. Each book you send to someone gives you one credit. You then can use those credits to request books from others on the website. You pay for shipping books to people, and the people who send you a book pay shipping. So it's FREE! There are so many books to choose from, you won't have any trouble finding something worth reading. The site is easy to use, and I have not once had any trouble with sending or requesting a book from someone. So, next time you are looking for a book, why not try paperbackswap.com?
...

I've just recently started using this site in addition to BookMooch as a way to trade my books. I instantly fell in love with the site when I saw that you could print your postage directly from the site and never have to go to the post office again... yay!! As soon as I browsed the site for a little bit I moved about 80% of my books from my BookMooch inventory to my PaperBackSwap inventory, I was ready to rock. Now, after using both sites for a while I am finding some cons to this site that there aren't on BookMooch and am considering keeping the same inventory on both for more chances to get requests.

     PROS

Can ship directly from home by printing a label and paying Paperbackswap directly

More organized as far as customer service and regulating rules

More ways to list your books (To be read, Books I've read, etc.)

Forums for communicating with other members

Can buy credits

     CONS

Do not receive credits for books added to inventory (BookMooch gives .1 point)

Can not choose who...

...

I found this site at just the right time. School was ending and I had recieved the summer reading list from my son's school. I found a couple of book trading sites, but the post 10 books and recieve credits for swapping at PaperBackSwap.com convinced me to try this site.
Within 2 weeks I had 2 of the 3 books my son needed for summer reading and it had cost me nothing! I was so excited I suggested the site to a number of other moms.

Since joining at the end of May, I have sent 3 books and recieved 3 books.
The process is simple, you post books you are willing to part with, you recieve an email when another member has requested a book. Mail the book and recieve credit when the book is recieved. I have chosen to print book wrappers from the site, wrap the books and stop at the post office when I am running errands. I have recieved books from other members in mailers, the choice is yours. If you are so inclined you can purchase postage from the site and never have to visit a post......

What I'm about to tell you sounds too good to be true, but there is absolutely NO CATCH whatsoever. I've been a member of paperbackswap for about a year, and I can tell you from experience that it's a very simple way to get used books for free. FREE!

Here's the deal. Just dig through your closet and find some old books you no longer want. Then you "post" your books on the site under your name. If someone on the site wants one of your books, you simply print out the wrapper from your computer. The wrapper will already have the address of the person that wants the book, and will tell you how much postage to place on the wrapper. Then you mail the book! When the person receives the book they requested, they will log in and mark it as "received". Then you receive points for sending it to them! That is ALL you have to do to receive books from other people on the site.

Most any book I've ever looked for has been on that site. And when I'm looking for one that isn't currently...
...

There is no fee to join paperbackswap, and you get books for free! All you do is, you post books that you have at home you no longer want. Other members can view your books & request one to be sent to them. All you do is pay the shipping, which is usually only two dollars or so. Once they receive their book, they leave feedback for you. Everytime you receive feedback for shipping a book, you receive points towards your account. The points are used to decide how many books you can request from other people.

I've received many books though this website. When you request a book from another member, you usually receive it within a week. And you pay nothing if you're the one receiving! I haven't had one single negative experience with paperbackswap. It's a great idea if you like to read.

You can also read reviews of books from other members. It's helpful to be able to search books people have listed, and get an idea of what you may like. You can also put in a "Wish request". ...
...

I've long been an avid reader. Sometimes I can read 2 to 5 books a WEEK! That tends to get expensive if I have to buy new books.
Recently I found an AWESOME site called Swap-A-Book. There you post a list of books you are willing to swap with other readers. Once you post 10 books you are given 2 "credits". You can then use those credits to request any books posted by others. You earn more when your books are requested and you mail them out. Once they are received, the requestor will notify the site and you are given credit. It's great! Basically you are getting a book for the cost of shipping (about $2.13 media mail for a single paperback). You simply agree to ship any books that are requested from you... no need for credit cards or paypal account etc. So far I have received 9 books - all in excellent condition - in a timely manner. I've mailed out 13 books and I think I have 5 or 6 credits still available!

This is a fantastic site for anyone who loves to read but hates paying $9+ for a paperback...
...

Here is a website disigned by book lovers for book lovers. Two guys who shared a raging passion for reading and found that they had shelves of books they had read and were always buying more, came up with the idea that similar minded people could swap books with each other via website and the US Postal Service.
When you get to their website, you can join right away. There is no entrance fee, and the rules are simple. You have to log in 9 books or more to get started (most people who use this site have maybe 9 SHELVES of books!) After you have logged in your books, you start out with 3 credits. Each credit is good for one book through the club. You can browse by author, title, genre, or even age groups for childrens books. I have found this to be easier to navigate than Amazon.com for books I want.

After you have made a selection, the person next in line to ship that book out is notified, and they will respond whether or not they can ship the book to you.
