stef42678 says "High Quality Photos" about Panasonic - Lumix DMC-FZ30

I have never really owned a high quality digital camera, so I was really hesitant about spending $1000 on a camera, but it turns out that this Panasonic - Lumix DMC-FZ30 is a great investment and perfect for any picture taking experience. The digital camera is larger than a simple point and shoot device, but it has some great features and an interchangeable lens that makes your photos look professional. The LCD panel is easy to use for a viewfinder so you can easily pick out the objects you want to photograph and see how your picture will turn out while shooting. The picture quality on the panel is great and it has features to automatically focus, or you can do it manually. I like the red eye reduction feature as well as it is easy to turn on and off the flash, or set it to auto features where all you have to do is press the shutter button for a great picture. It has an option for action photos or a series of photos of the same subject and you can really zoom in on your objects. ...
...

mhitesman says "Flawed design; manufacturer low life" about Panasonic - Lumix DMC-FZ30

Worked ok for nearly a full year before suddenly dying in the middle of a shoot. Ok for outside shots; really awful in low light. Panasonic refused warranty work by saying the main board had "corroded" and i must have dropped it in a lake. The camera was never within a hundred miles of a lake. For the price, you can spend just a little more and get a good camera OR a lot less and get a good point and shoot, which is all the panasonic is anyway since the ridiculous scrolling menus make it impossible to use the features in any real setting. Canon and Nikon and Fuji are good manufacturers. If you insist on Panasonic, make sure to buy a warranty that covers dropping it in a lake as they will probably try to weasel out of warranty coverage by accusing you of just that....
