I purchased to replace my the first bread machine which was the first Panasonic bread machine ever made. Had it for over 20 years. That is longevity. I still use the old one at our summer cottage.

The SD-YD250 is probably a little more rugged due to a few improvements. It is slightly larger, taking more space on counter. They eliminated the cord storage compartment so you can't hide the part of the cord not needed.

The many different cycles are nice, but highly over rated from the two basic cycles of the old machine where I can make everything, too.

The engineers had their heads up their butts when they wrote the programs for the different cycles. Most of the cycles have a 15 to 90 minute rest period at the very beginning where your ingredients, wet and dry, sit unmixed making a glop. So to make whole wheat taking 5 hours, it has a 60-90 minute rest period. Why not cut the rest period to zero and finish in 4 hours??? Duh! Wake up Panansonic.

When I decided I wanted a bread machine, I did a ton of research. I do mean an absolutely ton, I spent weeks pouring over consumer reviews, customer reviews and agonizing in general over the what ifs- "What if it sucks?" "What if I choose the wrong one?"

So, I finally sucked it up and purchased this model.

Oh, my, God.

LOVE IT!! I've had nothing but perfect bread out of this machine, no matter what recipe I try!! Even once when I accidentally forgot the egg, (and didn't realize I forgot the egg, so I just added in more water to counteract the crumbly dough), it came out TASTY!

This model has an automatic yeast add-er thing, which I love.

It doesn't have a window to view the bread rising and cooking, but it's really not too hard to just pop the top and take a look! I always imagined they'd just be too fogged up to see through anyway.

This model is NOT extremely loud, also a huge plus for me. You can definitely hear it (especially the yeast dispenser), but no worries about it...

The greatest thing about this bread machine is that you can put in all of the ingrediants the night before. Then when you wake up in the morning you have warm bread to go with your coffee. It is a good price for the machine too. I have had my panasonic bread machine now for eleven years, and it still works great. I use it for my dinner parties, and on weekends when I have company over for brunch. There are many types of breads you can make in this machine. It comes with a cook book, and the booki has many helpful hints. I even made bagels one time from the recipes in the book that came with the machine. The nicest thing about this machine is that it really requires very little clean up as well. ...

We have this bread maker and it works rather well - it came with some easy reciepies and we like to make Pizza Dough out of it.... so far we love it. It is really easy to use my brother in law is the one who got it for a gift and so far we have made 3 -4 different types of bread. It is nice to have the fresh smell of bread in the house.... this machine is also easy to clean and it stores nicely. ...

couldn't be easier to use and clean. we use it for every holiday and on the weekends when we have parties. we make pizza dough, cinnmon buncs all sorts of things. alwasy fresh too. this year my son is in his new house and i know they would like one. makes a great gift and is affordable too. so handy and really doesnt take up much space. i leave mine ou on the counter. i use it at least 5 times a week. saves money and ime which is really important to me. when my son moves out i will get him one too...

I own the earlier version of the Panasonic Bread Machine - SD-YD250 and my parents have the current model. My machine is still going strong after 15 years of use. My dad uses his every week and treats his neghbors to specialty breads! I'll review again at the 20 year mark.

I just bought this bread machine about a week ago and made three loafs of bread so far.

All the loafs came out really well. I like multigrain breads and this machine works very well to make those.

It's very easy to use and easy to clean as well.

The only thing that I don't like is to make some kinds of bread, you cannot choose the size of the bread if you use the recipes in the book which comes with the machine. So when I made one multi grain bread, it was too tall. When I made a sandwich with the bread, it didn't fit in my sandwich ziplock container.
