Elwoodsc says "Love this product!" about Pampered Chef Mix-n-Chop Tool

A friend recently had a Pampered Chef party, I wasn't looking forward to it because I thought I had all the "gadgets" from there that I would actually use. Then I saw the "Mix and Chop Tool" and knew that was exactly what I'd be ordering.

My family likes their ground meat in chili and sauces to be in pretty fine pieces. Previously we had been taught a little trick about boiling the ground meat to cook it, which helps break it up pretty quickly. But it is a somewhat tedious process to have to boil, breakup & then drain all the meat. Since we bought the "Mix and Chop" we don't have to boil it anymore to get it into small pieces. This tool works perfect. We even had family over for taverns and my brother used the "Mix and Chop" and asked where we got it because he loved it so much and wanted to get one for their household.

I have read some of the comments saying this doesn't work, that a fork or spatula works better, or that everything sticks to the bottom of the tool. I guess I'm not sure...
...

The Pampered Chef Mix 'n Chop is the greatest for chopping hamburger for such things as tacos and spaghetti sauce. It has more surface contact and blades than your typical turner. Other uses are chopping and mixing up the ingredients for egg salad, chicken salad and tuna salad. Made of high quality nylon, it is safe to use on cookware and will not scratch. The handle is shaped for an easy grasp. The Mix 'n Chop is heat resistant to 428 degrees and is dishwasher safe. The cost is only $10 and it also has a 5 year guarantee. It is one of the most used tools in my kitchen!!
...

dmlichnerowicz says "Saved my carpal tunnel wrists!!!" about Pampered Chef Mix-n-Chop Tool

I love cooking, but because of an injury I obtained during high school, my wrists swell and ache for hours if I perform repetetive motions (like chopping ground beef in a frying pan). And ground beef if pretty much a staple in our home! So when I hosted a Pampered Chef party, this little tool was on my "must buy" list.

The Pampered Chef Mix-n-Chop is a black plastic nylon stick with five pinwheel blades on the end. The handle is soft plastic and fits comfortably in my hand. It's dishwasher safe and is virtually indestructible. Believe me, I'm hard on my kitchen gadets! I left it in the pan a little too long and it didn't melt, misform, or have any problems after that...it's actually heat resistant up to 425 degrees! Because it's made of nylon, it's safe to use in any cookware and won't leave scratch marks behind. This tool will cost you $10.00 and has a 5-year manufacturer's guarantee. My mother buys these things by the dozen and gives them away as gifts for weddings,...
...

mauigirlinwa says "It does a good job, but it's just ok-nothing great or special." about Pampered Chef Mix-n-Chop Tool

When I first saw this product at a party, I thought that it would be so great since I use a lot of ground turkey and spend a lot of time trying to ground the meat while cooking with a spatula. It's a great product, but when using ground turkey breast (which doesn't have a lot of oil and is very dry), it becomes rather difficult to get the meat grounded to small enough pieces. I also found that it is good for doing just that, breaking up the meat. You can't flip the meat over, saute with it, etc., so it's very limited to what it can do. What I really don't like about it is that it is difficult to clean. When the meat gets cooked on there, it gets stuck and you have to scrub it really well to get all the meat particles off of it. When put in the dishwasher, it comes out clean but still lined or caked with meat. It's a good product, but for the price you pay for it, I would like it do more!
...

I bought this thinking it would be great for ground beef. I was disappointed. I didn't find it was particularly effective on very lean ground beef at all. It did marginally better work as a mixer. Unfortunately, this item is pretty much a uni-tasker. It takes up a lot of room, and, in my opinion, doesn't do any better job than a flat bamboo paddle (which is considerably less expensive!). I would rather have spent my money on some others of Pampered Chef's many other quality products....
