Lateflite says "Convienent little Tech Wonder" about Palm Z22 Handheld

I have enjoyed using my Palm Z22 handheld Personal Data Assistant (PDA). It's got a well lighted screen and big, easy to read writing. The size is small so it can easily fit in your pocket or purse. I use it to store addresses, email accounts, credit card info, passwords, and it easily synch with my computer so that I can assess the same info on my laptop as well as the Palm PDA.

It did take a bit to learn to use the writing recognition tool (you write on the screen and the text is stored so that you do not need a keyboard, although you can access it that way too.) At first I could not get it to recognize some letters and numbers, but then I figured out that some letters have to be written a certain way, for example, tou have to cross a T first which is contrary to the way we all learned, other wise it thinks you are making a lower case L. So it does take just a bit of getting used to.

One complaint is the relatively short battery life between charges. But that is a complaint...
...

The Z22 is great for people who want to keep their life organized without spending a lot of money. It's easy to sync up with your PC so any notes, memos, appointments you make on either one can be transferred to the other.

It does not connect to the internet so if you want that ability you need to choose another model.

The main drawback I've found in using it for the last 2 years is that the screen is very hard to read outside in the sunshine.
...

I am very scatter-brained, and needed help organizing. But I didn't need a full cellphone, internet, movie player, etc. gadget. The z22 was simple, elegant, and priced perfectly. It also has fun features, like a clock that will display pictures, and games. The "notepad" feature allows you to free-hand quick messages and small drawings, and the grafitti software will type messages in more organized lists.

You can buy software for whatever you need the palm to do. It is easy to buy and upload. The desktop software for your home PC or laptop makes all information accesible, and provides an automatic backup if you ever lose the z22.
...

The Palm Z22 is perfect for someone that wants to carry their calendar, lists, contacts, deck of cards, paper, and pen with them in a tiny little device.

I have all of my info on Outlook 2007 and since getting my Palm z22, i can take the info with me everywhere I go.

I have no real complaints except for the alarm funtion. The default alarm sound is so low and quiet it would not wake you if you had it next to your ear. I did find a download of different music sounds that you can play on it. The actually volume didn't increase, but I found a higher pitched alarm that is easier to hear. I still would not rely on the alarm for anything though.

My Palm is extremely affordable (I got mine for around $70). It's compatible with Outlook 2007 (newest version), and it's tiny and light.
...

I got this pda for Christmas last year from my husband. It is one of the best gifts I've ever got because I use it daily. I am a Mom of 5 kids and am very busy. It keeps me going in the right direction day after day. I even bought one for my daughter this year for Christmas since its on her list. I am very happy with the performance and I am not tech savy, nor do I have time to learn how to figure out a bunch of commands. Its simple and it works and does the job. Great buy, great price....

fyliao says "Good basic PDA if you don't use it as alarm clock." about Palm Z22 Handheld

The clean look of the Z22 goes with my MacBook. I am glad to have this PDA. I just do not rely on it for its alarm function for any of my appointments and reminders. Even the loudest setting is too quiet for me unless I have it in sight. I have been a Palm user since 1998 and have good amount of experience with PDAs. The price is reasonable (I bought it for much lower than the retail price at eBay) so I am not complaining too much about the quiet alarm function I mentioned earlier. I know I will not be too upset if I lose the PDA or damage it. It is not a pain to replace it. As long as I have all my data sync to my computer....

I would be lost with out this Palm. I have Multiple Sclerosis and my memory is not what it once was. My Hubby had gotten me this for christmas last year and it saved my life. I use it to add my appointments or anything I have to remember to do on the calendar, and click the remind me feature. The alarm goes off to let me know what I have to do.

I had damaged my screen at one point and wasnt able to use it any longer and was lost. I was missing Dr appointments, meetings etc. Thank goodness I got a new one. My kids said " I see you got your brain back Mom!" They even know how much I depend on this.

You can download different try and buy features on it such as games, programs, photo tools etc.. Some of these will stay on indefinately some are just on for a limited amoutn of time. You then, just erase that program and download others if you wish, or purchase the ones you like.

Its not hard to figure out how to use, and I personally am lost with out mine!
...

Que says "Great For First Timers" about Palm Z22 Handheld

This is a great little palm pilot for those who are first time users. If you are use to palm pilots and already accustomed to how they work and like bells and whistles this one is not for you. This has all the simple features. Your actually going to get exactly what you pay for with this one. It will organize you and remind you. It has a few games on it and some extras. You can download features but do know it is limited in the space it has to hold things. If you need a lot of organizing you might want to upgrade to something a little more bigger and better. This is great for first time users, college students or people who don't really know anything about gadgets and want to keep it plain and simple. Don't expect a miracle for under $100...

The Palm z22 is a good product. I do not go anywhere without it and would be lost if I did. It manages my contacts, to-do lists, my appointments, my family's appointments. Anything I need to remember is contained in this Palm which is just slightly larger than my cell phone. The only drawback is that it needs some external light source, which should have been included, such as a brighter backlight or illumination. ...

I had a Sony Clio prior to this, but Sony stopped making PDAs. I loved the Sony, but was afraid it would die eventually after four years and I would lose all my stored data. So I tried the Palm Z22 for its low price tag and ease of use.

Good things: small, light, less clunky that the Sony; great price for the functionality; easy to learn; the new graffiti is more like regular writing

Less than good things: You have to tap the screen pretty vigorously to get it to register, and the letter "l" on mine just doesn't work, so I have to switch to the keyboard. And the cae options aren't great. Also, the screen is smaller than the Sony, so you can't see enough on one screen to be able to check a phone number, for example, without going into the full entry.
...

This was my first attempt at stepping away from the paper calendar and I didn't want to spend alot of money because I wasn't sure I would use it. The Palm Z22 was just what I needed. It's small and fits in the inside pocket of my purse. I always have it when someone wants to schedule a mtg. It stores my schedule, calendar and things to do list. Easy to use. Love it....
