sarahtaylor513 says "Palm Centro is not compatable to the blackberry pearl." about Palm Centro Smartphone

I wanted a blackberry pearl. But blackberry puts an outragous fee on their phones every month. I can't afford that on a monthly basis. So I asked the sales guy at verizon wireless what is a phone that is compatable to the blackberry pearl. He gave me the palm centro. I think it is a good phone but for a girl it is a little bulky. I am not a big fan of the touchscreen. It is very sensitive and if you keep your phone in your pocket it "butt dials" people all the time. It is a great texting phone. It has the full keyboard and easy push buttons. It is not easy to find things on there you kinda have to play around with it to be able to navigate easily. It holds a battery really well. I charge it every three days and talk about two hours a day on it. It has great memory. I text about a few thousand a month and it stores every one of them in conversation form. The palm centro is a good working phone but has its faults.
...

raengler says "Minus the carrier Palm Centro is pretty good." about Palm Centro Smartphone

The Palm Centro is probably the best cell phone I've ever owned. That may not be saying much if your a person who owns an iphone or something of the sort. But frankly I've seen and used the iphone and I prefer the Palm for two reasons. First, while I am a fan of the touch screen feature, I also like the option of having acctual buttons to push. Call me old fashion but it just gives me peace of mind in case the touch screen decides to go on the fritz. Second I prefer the compactability of the Palm. It's not so bulky. I can store it pretty much anywhere.

I'm not much of a texter so the buttons on the palm are not as bad an inconvenience to me as they would an avid text user. I will say this however about the provider I use with the palm ATT wireless. Not Happy. Not Sad. But I have consistant trouble with signal under att. I'm not sure if its the phone or the carrier. I will say that i have had two other phones under ATT and I had the same problem. I'll let you be the judge.
...

Maybe it's just because I text 24/7, but I've had this phone for 13 months, and 9 of the buttons you use to text have fallen off. The key pad has what seem to be, gel like letter pads over it and they have fallen off leaving the key pad part exposed and (I guess where my nails hit the buttons everytime) it has ripped open. The navigation bottons fall off and i have to click them back into place and overall, the phone is very slow and un-responsive. I don't recomend it to someone who texts often.
...

I received the Palm Centro smartphone for free because I extended my contract with Verizon Wireless. I have to say that I am very impressed! I love how I can add all of my contact information, photos, apps etc. on my PC and then just plug in my smartphone and sync everything!

I love the variety of applications for this phone. I download them on my PC and just synch them, and they they are on my smartphone! It takes decent pictures as well, a great thing to use in a pinch when I don't have my digital camera on me.

I love the touch screen and QWERTY board the best. That was the number one thing I was looking for in my new phone, and I can text so quick now! I love how it adds apostrophes to contractions while I'm texting, so I don't have to do it myself.

I would and have definitely recommended this phone to my friends. The possibilities are endless with this smartphone! Keep tabs of things on your calendar, to do lists, mp3 playlists, etc.
...

witmaster says "I could not live without my Palm Centro" about Palm Centro Smartphone

I recently upgraded to a new Palm Centro phone/organizer. I don't know how I survived for so long with separate phones and palms. This is truly the all-in-one for everyone. I can call or text, and with Sprint I get service almost everywhere, and use the bluetooth in the car. My entire life is organized on the calendar. It's amazingly easy to add events, since the keyboard is simple to use. And it has space for hundreds of contacts, all of which are simple to find in a number of different ways. I've programmed the smart button to bring up my work related memos, so I don't have to remember all the stuff I need on a daily basis.

I can listen to music or watch TV on demand while I'm stuck on line or in a waiting room, or play games like free cell or solitaire. And checking e-mail or surfing the web is a snap.

I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to have all the important parts of their life easily accessible in one place.
...

AshPA says "Palm Centro is excellent QWERTY PHONE that i have used so far." about Palm Centro Smartphone

I have got this phone about a year ago and is working very well for me, even though some people have suggested about small QWERTY keypad, but I never had any issues with that small keypad. As a matter of fact it has been very easy to use keypad once you get used to it. I know it is iPhone world out there but this does provide all the funtionality you need in a PDA phone. It has all functionality that you look for in PDA Phone. It has organized, calendar, alarm, address book with pictures, real palyer, tasks, and world clock. Ofcoruse it has camera with video capabilities, it supports MP3 and has ptunes player. You can connect to internet if you have data plans or you could use the WiFi or Bluetooth to exchange data.

One thing it lack is large internal memory like iPhone, but again it is not iPhone and you can always connect external memory to store pictures, videos and mp3s. Also, the touch screen is kinda small so it doesn't go well with people who likes to play games, but again this...
...

I picked out my Palm Centro as a free upgrade from Cingular. I had a Blackberry beforehand. I was excited because I finally had a camera on my phone again! I was also excited because I wanted a touchscreen. It took me a while to get get used to the smaller buttons but I love the QWERTY keyboard. Once I got used to the buttons it became a piece of cake! I love everything about this phone except 2 things:

1. You have to have an upgraded data plan to send and/or receive pictures because it is considered a "PDA" phone. Grrr...thats and additional $30 a month just to send and receive pics. However...the phone is capable w/o the plan if your carrier makes a mistake like mine did. I was able to send and receive pics for about 6 months til I was cut off and they informed me I needed a data plan. So...its the carrier, not the phone.

2. The plug for the charge became loose and now is extremely positional. I cant really use the wall charger anymore. I have to plug it into...
...

djfulfords says "I think the palm centro is a decent value for the money you pay " about Palm Centro Smartphone

The Palm Centro PDA is a good basic smart phone. It may not have quite as many of the features that some of the fancier/pricier ones do, but if you are a casual user, you probably don't need them either. It does cover most of the bases that the average user would want or need. You have video & photo capabilities, web browsing, email, texting, & even google earth. You will require a data plan or else you will incur some pretty costly bills without realizing that you are doing so. I love the touch screen. Its the main reason I purchased this phone. It also allows for memory expansion with a micro sd card.

It does lack a few things that many other phones offer now though. Yahoo is not an option on this phone. It was not a deal breaker for me but many people do find this to be one. There is a limited amount of free aps for this phone. Most Palm aps & games seem to be a bit pricey. I have also found that the phone tends to freeze a fair amount on me for no reason. I am not sure why.
