Two annoyances, one of which I wonder if anyone else has had...

First, the filter slows down to an almost unbearable speed, which I suppose is probably good, in a way. (Makes the brita seem fast (insert laugh here) )

Second, the back pressure on the sink faucet stem, was creating leaks; the back pressure was breaking down the rubber seals in the faucet stem.

Pur claims that the filters last a few months, but this is incorrect. Within weeks or even days, the water will slow to a trickle and make the the thing virtually unusable (like it takes several minutes just to fill a glass of water....who is going to put up with that?) This will occur even if you follow the instructions exactly and let the water run for five minutes when installing.

Given that the filters cost around $15 each, this makes the water extremely expensive. Avoid PUR for this reason. From what I've read, all models have this problem.
...

BUDDY123 says "don't use too much hot water " about PUR Faucet Water Filters

I had just moved into a new home and new state. The water was not good. So I decided to buy a faucet water filtration system. I decided on the Pur water filtration system. I liked it at first. I changed the first filter and used a new one. The faucet mount housing and the bottom cover started to crack and the water would come out of the cracks. I thought it was because I had put the filter in wrong. So I decided to buy another, because I had other filters and did not want to waste them. Then, the same mishaps started showing on the new filter. I thought again it was me, so I uninstalled and reinstalled the filter to check if I was wrong or not. I did everything by the instructions and tested the filter again for any mistakes. Still, water was leaking from the filter. I decided to contact your hotline, but it didn't help me. Untill now, I have figured that the only way to find help is to give a review on this product.

2/5 stars for PUR| Water Filtration System

Thank you,

Jeanmo says "A superior alternative to buying bottled water" about PUR Faucet Water Filters

The Pur Faucet Water Filter is a fantastic alternative to buying bottled water. Just think of all those plastic water bottles that -- if they don't get recycled -- end up in the landfill, where they will remain virtually forever. Economically and environmentally, it is much better to get one reusable water bottle and refill it with your own filtered tap water.

Pur filters provide clean-tasting water that is free of many of the chemicals (Chlorine, Benzene) added to it in water treatment facilities. The carbon microfilter will remove microbial cysts and giardia, which can lead to gastrointestinal illnesses. It reduces heavy metals in water such as mercury (which causes nerve damage) that seeps into water from the environment as a result of coal-burning power plants, and lead (which causes physical and mental development problems in children, kidney damage in adults) that can be absorbed by water from household plumbing.

The fawcet-mounted unit may be a bit bulky and...
...

chnich says "PUR - the best filtered water" about PUR Faucet Water Filters

I realized how much I like our PUR faucet water filter when a guest inadvertantly filled a glass with "regular" water. I knew immediately something was amiss. The water didn't have that fresh taste I had become used to. I fill all of my exercise bottles and store them in the refrigerator so they are ready when I am. We used to have some difficulty with washing large items with the filter on the faucet, but since we've installed a higher faucet there's been no problem. For little money put out for the filters, we save a bunch on bottled water, reuse water bottles, and add little to landfills.
...

starshollow says "PUR Water Filter Systems offers the BEST tasting water!!" about PUR Faucet Water Filters

I recently purchased a PUR water filtration system that attaches to my kitchen faucet. I was hoping this would be a wise investment and one that I would use. Well, it was an awesome investment and boy do I use it. WOW!! The taste of water is now extremely wonderful.

Before adding the PUR water filtration system our water honestly tasted nasty. No one at my house would drink water right out of the faucet. This meant I had to continually purchase bottled water and sometimes that was a hassle.

Now everyone happily drinks water and I don't have to lug the bottled water home anymore. YIPPEE!!
...

This unit screws onto your faucet and stays there all the time. It has a lever to switch the water flow from being filtered or not. It is bulky and gets in the way when washing dinner plates or pots and pans.

The water does get filtered, but it's much easier to use the pitcher stlye water filters that you can fill up and stick in the fridge.
...

ViewFromParadise says "PUR WATER FILTERS ARE THE BEST" about PUR Faucet Water Filters

Pur Water Filters are the best and most economical.
There are many choices and styles of water filters out there and it can be confusing without really reading the fine print. Most of them only filter for TASTE.
Pur brand filters out Lead, even gasoline and types of Bacteria that I cannot spell or pronounce. I have used the faucet style for many years. Pur brand does cost a bit more than most others but are well worth it, durable and one cartridge makes approximately 300 gallons of SAFE wonderful tasting water.
My 80 yr. old Mother cannot live without her Pur Pitcher designed for the refrigerator. The pitcher has a spout so she dosen't have to lift it to get water.
Pur also sells a Counter top, and under the sink style.
Very easy to install and so easy to change the filter cartridges.
Pur also makes other styles-even Sears and Delta Faucet company use Pur for
their Refrigerators Ice Makers and Water Dispensers.
I even use this water in my aquariums.
I have tried others and know Pur is safer...
...

gklimczak says "Great Product" about PUR Faucet Water Filters

The PUR faucet mount water filter does its job, and does it well. We have city water, and can really tell when they have treated the water - running the water from any faucet in the apartment makes the whole place smell like a pool. We use the water filter on the kitchen faucet, for just about everything, from drinking water for ourselves to drinking water for our 2 birds and cat, ice cubes, Kool-Aid, in the coffee pot and iced tea maker, etc. The main drawback is the mounting part to put on the spigot to attach the filter - theirs does not seem to work with all faucets. Brita at least offers different parts (you can order them by phone through an 800 number) if the unit does not mount properly. It is a really simple installation process. PUR also has GREAT customer service. They have a 5 year warranty on the unit itself. We had a problem with our first couple of units, and replaced them ourselves. Then I got the bright idea to call the 800 number, since I wanted to let......
