USAF says "BEWARE - they will rip you off!" about Orbitz

Made the huge mistake of using Orbitz to plan a family reunion - don't be conned! They mark up everything and tell you it's the last ticket or last room at the hotel. I feel like such a fool. They advertise that if the price goes down you will get a refund - BEWARE!! Read the fine print - it will NEVER happen! If you do get conned, make sure in writing what you're getting - they changed my reservation and said I told them that's what I wanted. I learned a BIGGGGG lesson. NEVER, EVER use Orbitz!!
...

Booked a flight with Orbitz to Germany for my wife and I. Requested two seats next to eachother of course. Received a confirmation email with out seats. One week before the trip decided to confirm our seats with the airline. The airline told us we had no seats requested because an Orbitz Travel Agent had cancelled our seating request. We were left with two seats on opposite sides of the plane. Orbitz denied any wrongdoing and insisted it was me or my wife who had made the changes. They were unwilling to pay for an upgrade or work towards any other solution. It will be a fun flight flying alone for ten hours.
...

I needed to rent a minivan at the Tampa Fl Int. Airport. I WENT ONLINE to search for a good deal, and i saw ORBITZ with a competitive rate, the only thing they offer unlimited miles. i was going to Charlotte N.C. So we wanted to make sure about the unlimited miles and that we could take the vehicle out of the FLA. State ( some rental companies restrict the rental of a vehicle ,<specialy the minivans> to the state were the vehicle is to avoid high millage) We call ORBITZ to make sure we get what we wanted. I spoke with a guy named Amed, and we specifically tell him what we wanted. He told us that we were at the right place and we did the reservation. We arrived to the Payless rental place 20 min. before the time on the reserv.Everything was fine until the guy told us that we can get the car but no to take it out of FLA. State. I imediately call ORBITZ to straight the situation And they insisted that was a missunderstanding,...
...

OpenMindedTraveler says "Don't ever use them for anything" about Orbitz

I have stayed in many hotels for many nights. My experience with Orbitz was the worst: I made the mistake of booking the Hotel Emporio in Mexico City through Orbitz. During my stay, the room had numerous problems, including backed up plumbing causing the room to smell like a sewer, air conditioner outages causing the room to be like a sauna, and bellboys ignoring the "do not disturb signs" and knocking on the door at 2:00 am. After a couple of problems, I contacted Orbitz asking them to contact the management about a partial refund. Barring that, I said that I was willing to change hotels. From the first contact, they simply repeated their "no refunds under any circumstances" policy, and played for time, knowing that once I had left the property, I would have no recourse. I tried to get a partial refund, without success.

In summary, if there are any problems with anything, no matter what, including safety issues, Orbitz will not issue a credit, nor allow you to modify any...
...

I use Orbitz to book travel for myself and for my mother several times a year, and I started using Orbitz on the recommendation of my father, who uses it several times a year. However, after my last experience, I will never use Orbitz again.

I booked a trip to Las Vegas for May 27 through 30, 2009. This trip was for my best friend's wedding, and about 25 people booked their tickets to the wedding through Orbitz. When I booked my flights, I specified that I wanted flight times after noon. My original flights were the following: I was to leave Omaha at 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, and I was to leave Las Vegas at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. These times were perfect.

I received four flight updates between January and February. The first two kept the flight times at acceptable times. When I received the third and fourth update, I (wrongly) assumed that the times would be within what I initially specified — after noon. Furthermore, I figured with four flight changes in one month, there were bound to be...
...

Since my son is in the military I am the one who gets to make his leave travel arrangements. I am familiar with many of the online line ones but use orbitz the most. The have a great service which is flight notification so if a flight is delayed or changed you either get an email or text message. We set up to receive these. Since we use a local airport he has to take connecting flights to get anywhere but last December we ran into a BIG problem when he arrived in Boston only to find his flight had been cancelled due to weather and thus he would not make the next connecting flight. We did not get either of the notices and he called me from the airport and I called Orbitz and they said they got no notification. His itinerary showed all the original flights with no changes. This is not good as trying to explain to your sergeant why you were late returning and not having the extra money ( or time) to stay overnight to catch the next flight. They could not help us but the people at the airport...
...

tracilea says "An ABSOLUTE rip off!!!!" about Orbitz

I will never use Orbitz again! I just took a trip to the Oregon Coast, Seaside Oregon. And thought it would be a good idea to go through Orbitz to get the best deal (like they advertise) But instead was totally ripped off!! I paid for our Hotel stay with my debit card and was charged istantly by Orbitz. After we completed our stay at the hotel they gave me the reciept and it was 35.60 less than what we were charged by Orbitz! I contacted Orbitz and they said that the price I paid was a contracted amount through the hotel we stayed at. And that the hotel was not supposed to give me a reciept with the lower price amout that Orbitz acctually paid for us to stay at that hotel. Orbitz charged me a (hidden) fee off 35.60. Orbitz in turn would not refund the differance amount of 35.60. Therefore I will never use Orbitz again nor will I ever recomend anyone else to ever use them! I could have got a much better deal going directly to the hotel and made reservations!!!!

I hope some one out there...
...

lacyk says "NEVER AGAIN!" about Orbitz

My friends and I wanted to stay in Santa Cruz for my friends birthday. Orbitz had a room that seemed the cheapest and was close to where we wanted to go. My confirmation said that my room would have a coffee maker, a mini-fridge, and a microwave. It also was going to be a non-smoking room. When we arrived NONE of the things were in our room and the room smelled like an ashtray. I was angry with the hotel but I did book with orbitz so gave them a call. I asked for a refund and they told me if the hotel wouldn't refund them they would not refund me. Other online booking sites have a 100% satisfaction guarantee. Orbitz, however, is way below these other sites. They still refuse to refund me for a room they lied about. All they offered me was a $50 voucher for my next trip I book with them. As if I would EVER book through this terrible website again! I plan to take Orbitz to small claims court. It's not my problem if the hotel does not refund their money. $182 refund to me from orbitz is not......

MANDALA says "Not friendly to travelers who reside overseas" about Orbitz

I used to be the customer of ORBTIZ for the past few years and it was great. Due to personal reasons, I have to reside overseas for a while. I've chagned the billing address of my credit card which is issued in the u.s. and still valid. The ORBITZ representative told me that they don't accept a foreign billing address of credit cards not listed on their web even if they are issued in the U.S. So that means I can't book anything on their web in the future until I move back. I understand that's their policy, but I really feel disappointed. So I will go to other online travel agencies instead.
...

I have only used Orbitz once and I won't make that mistake again. I usually use Travelocity and Priceline, but I thought I would give Orbitz a try and see how it compared. I was planning a weekend away, and when I found a good hotel at a great price on Orbitz I was thrilled. But then I clicked to book the room and it mysteriously jumped in price by about $40/night. I got a little pop-up that said the original price was no longer available and this was the new price. I didn't want that price, so I left the site. But I was suspicious. So I went back a couple days later, and sure enough the original price was back, and when I clicked to book, it mysteriously jumped up again. At this point I was upset with the bait-and-switch tactic so I called the 800 number. Of course I got someone in India who had never heard of bait-and-switch. I asked for the number of the corporate office and they claimed not to have it. I called back a few minutes later hoping to get someone more intelligent...
...
