I first started reading Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum Series while working in a bookstore. There really was not a whole lot to do there except read, the customers were few, but one in particular turned my attention towards the misadventures of Stephanie Plum, novice Bounty Hunter, and from there it was sheer joy with every turn of the page. If you haven't gotten to know Stephanie, Grandma Mazur, Joe Morelli, or RANGER (and let's not forget the scrumptious Diesel), then it's time to go to your local bookstore, walk up to the clerk, and ask them to point you into the direction of the Fiction section and towards your first WONDERFUL experience of the Plum novels, starting with Three Plums in One you'll get the first three books, you will get to know Stephanie and her crazy family, friends (you'll just love Lulu and Connie) and learn how this lingerie buyer became a bad to the bone (lol) female bounty hunter for her cousin...what wouldn't you do to NOT have to live at HOME with your PARENTS?..........SO...
...

One for the money was my introduction to dear Stephanie Plumb. I read all the time. A friend gave me this book, and I was hooked. I remember reading this on the city bus and laughing out loud. How can anyone end up in the predicaments she does. I couldn't wait for the next one to come out. Now when a new one is releasted I start the series over. I never get bored with it.
...

One for the Money was the start of a great series. From grndam to mom,to Stephanie to LULU,its one laugh after another. I read this book by accident a few yrs ago and then I was hooked! While I would urge you to start from the beginning,One for the Money, whatever you can find to read in this series grab it and read. These books are the ones where you cannot no matter what put down once you open the front cover. My only problem with these books are that they do not come out faster that they do!! One for the money will surely make you laugh out loud and fall in love with each character.
...

jasyjen says "A fun action-adventure series for women." about One for the Money

One for the money is the first book in a series of fun to read action-adventure books written for women. The author, Janet Evanovich, combines hilarious story telling with mystery, action, and romance, in a book that is easy to read.

Stephanie Plum is the main character in this book, and the many that follow in the series, who becomes a bounty hunter on a whim. Yes, I know, the idea sounds a little hokey, but it IS FUNNY! Hunting down criminals does NOT come easy for Stephanie Plum, and reading about her clumsiness, fear of guns, and utterly disastrous attempts at law enforcement is funny, and cleverly written. Stephanie Plum slowly begins learning the talent, and the reader will cheer for her every small achievement.

The author of the book, Janet Evanovich, is an award winning author and has written MANY other books besides just the Stephanie Plum series. I enjoyed her unique writing style so much, that after reading One for the money, I went out and got several of the...
...

lovetobikemom says "I have read the entire series and can't wait for the next book" about One for the Money

The Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich are some of my absolute favorite books to read. I have read the entire series plus the "between the numbers" books as well. They are highly entertaining and funny. I love the characters and how easily it is to relate to the main character, Stephanie.

The books center around the life of Stephanie who is a bounty hunter. Need I say more? Her family is hilarious as is her love-life. Everything works together well and each book fits nicely into the series but they can hold their own if you do not read them in order.

The pace of each novel is quick and lively. Granted, these books are not going to be used in a college seminar any time soon, but at the end of a long day, I would rather relax with a fun book than something that required a lot of cerebral gymnastics. I consider these books "brain candy."

I have recommended these books to a lot of my girlfriends and they have also enjoyed them as much as I have.
...

Janet Evanovich's first book in the Stephanie Plum series, "One for the Money" will pull you in and have you searching for book 2 *Just an FYI....you can pick up books 1-3 in "Three Plums in One" - this will save you from chomping at the bit when you finish the first one. "One for the Money" is the first in the series of fourteen currently published books. Also look out for her "Between the Numbers" series, and her Alex Barnaby series.

Having grown up near Philly, with lots of Italian friends, this book cracked me up, and reminded me of home. Stephanie is a character that you will automatically be drawn to. Picture the average girl-next-door taking on some of the toughest criminals around, and just by luck, winning. Then there are her mouth-watering love-interests, Ranger and Joe Morelli. Evanovich's one-liners will have you laughing out loud, and Grandma Mazur will have you thankful that your granny isn't THAT bad.

This easy-read is light and entertaining. Great for reading on a pool...
...

Janet Evanovich is a great writer. She brings the characters to life in the novel "One For the Money." Stephanie Plum seems lke a real person, one that I feel like I have met before. She is bungling and hilarious. The book would never flow without the help of all of the characters that are assembled. Grandma Mazur, Vinnie, Stephanie's parents, Morelli and the asssorted bad guys keep you wanting more. The visual set that Evanovich paints for you is of a scene that most readers can tap into from thier memories and experiences. The book is an easy read, and the series flows together nicely. The great thing about the Plum series is that the books can be read separately without you feeling as though you are missing some of the ongoing plot. Evanovich reiterates the important facts each time allowing you the freedom of skipping books throughout the series. Stephanie seems i down to earth and ready for anything as long as her pet is unharmed and she has food. I am glad...
...

Each book in the Plum series takes you on a hilarious romp. The main charactor gets caught up in outrageous situations while trying to bring in criminals who have skipped out on their bail bond. She is in love with one man and in lust with another, both are involved with criminals, the one she loves is a Police Officer and the other a rather questionable charactor who helps her out and watches out for her.

Her family is important to the plot as Plum gets her kookieness from her grandmother. This is another person that is essentially off the wall funny! The series takes you through many of Plums foibles. She is reminisant of the Perils of Pauline charactor of old. If any thing can go wrong it Does!

The Stephanie Plum series is laugh out loud funny. If you don't have time to read books, then you better not pick this one up. You will be laughing so hard, that you won't want to put it down. You will find yourself finish whatever you're doing, just so you can get back to your new favorite series. The hardest part about falling in love with this series is having to wait a year for the next book. Luckly, she gives us a bone by writing what she calls a half book for us. The half books usually come out in January or Febuary and the Number series is usually May or June.

If you are not comfortable with people asking you whats so funny when you read in public places, then please, please leave this book at home. My husband once told me about a time he was taking a plane from Pheonix, AZ to Corpus Christi, TX. He got on the plane and was about to sit down next to a lady who was holding a book in her hand. He looked at the cover and saw that it was a Janet Evanovich, Stephanie...
...

I am very picky about the books I read. I usually am recommend a book to read, if I like it I will read all the books by that author. That's just what I do. I do not have a public library near my house and I don't want to waste money on books that I might not like. A friend of mine gave me several books to read and this was one of them. I was hooked. I am so in love with the Stephanie Plum series that I won't even read the last book of the series because I can't stand not to know what happens next and I don't want to have to wait a year or however long it takes until the following book comes out. I know that's a bit drastic but they are soooo good. There is romance but the best part is there is humor. And I mean I literally laugh out loud. I totally recommend. Obviously I have the entire series so that I can read them over and over again.
...

I started reading Janet Evanovich's One for the Money on a bus trip from Boston to New York City. Five hours never flew by quite so fast.

As I was travelling the route a lot at the time, I soon found myself picking up the next book in the series, and then the next, and the next, and so on. I found I could read one book on each trip, and never found myself staring out the window or wondering when the trip would be over.

Full of snappy dialogue, funny characters, and exciting mysteries (and sexy men), these books are great, fun reads.

Also recommended for reading on the beach or while commuting on the subway. Just be prepared to be disappointed to find yourself at your destination, since that means you have to put the books down!...

okay - do you enjoy to laugh? Laugh out loud (looking occasionally ridiculous- depending on where you read?) Then this is the start of a great relationship - Janet Evanovich has created a cast of characters that will have you begging for more! Stephanie Plum is the best heroine ever!!! With her odd ball antics and penchant for getting in trouble the fun never ends! I highly recommend this book and the whole series! Especially if you like a fun read!
...
