Okoboji isn't a bad restaurant, but it's not great either. Their food tends to be boring and it's definitely over-priced. I believe the chefs mainly rely on butter, cheese, and salt to flavor dishes. The atmosphere is what you'd expect of a casual restaurant serving mainly bar food. Service is hit or miss; about 60% miss in my experience.

I don't know why anyone would bother going here with a great Mexican and equally great sushi restaurant in the same mall. Although, if you were in the mood for french fries...

I was surprised to see a review of Okoboji that was anything less than 5-Star. I work on that side of town and we go there often at lunch. The manager is always present and usually comes over to see how the food/service was. The food is fantastic; I have not yet tried anything that I would not order again. The buffalo chicken salad or the turkey bacon sandwiches are probably my favorites. The portions are generous. Warning: this is not low-calorie food; I think they have a couple items for low-carbers, but it would be nice to have some other options as well. Prices are probably about average for a sit-down restaurant in Iowa City; expect to pay $7-$9 for a sandwich/fries combo or a large salad -definitely worth it! ...

The food is always good, although it is a bit more pricey than it is worth. The desserts definitely are too small for the price. The waitstaff can be either good or really bad. I won't go back any time soon after the last time when the waiter rang up the bill incorrectly, was absent most of the time, and had a constant scowl....

On a recommendation from a friend, I arranged a monthly lunch meeting at Okoboji's. The service was excellent and served in a timely manner. The menus were outstanding and very descriptive. My mouth watered at the way the food was presented. The waitress was kind and helpful in explaining our choices. The atmosphere was pleasant which lended to a very nice, casual meeting.

A couple of cons; the food was a bit pricey for the portions served. I had ordered a wrap and it was tiny, but otherwise delicious. I had wanted a certain dessert whose picture was plastered everywhere. It looked incredibly enticing but after ordering it, the manager came out and apologized that they had forgotten to defrost the dessert. That was disconcerting. We subsitituted a creamy chocolate and ice cream but just had my heart on the original berry cheesecake.

Overall, a wonderful place to meet with friends and enjoy a wonderful meal.
