serine23 says "Finally! One my son likes to use." about Nuby Straw Sports Cup Sipper

Our son never took to the traditional sippy cup or the bottle, maybe that's a problem for most babies who nurse, I'm not sure. We tried lot's of other sippy cups, Platex, Dr. Browns, even other Nuby cups, but this one is the easiest one we found. It is easy for our son to hold with the curved side and light gripping. They hold plenty of fluid without being oversized and too heavy. The biggest thing though is the appeal of the straw. It's a sort of soft gel kind, so it bends easily unlike some of those hard straw or standard sippy cups. Also the straw goes all the way to the bottom so kids don't get frustrated. I think he just has more fun with them. The only real big downfall is the leaking factor. Seems like these leak easily if on their side and make sure you have that lid screwed on tight, especially if you have some kind of vibrant color juice in there. All in all they have been a good purchase. The price was right!
...

These sippy cups are good transition sippys. The nuby sippy cups work well for little hand too. They are easy to hold. However ... they leak about a month after you buy them. So I went through many of these ... which becomes expensive. If you don't mind buying a lot of them they are good for first time switching.
...

jcm76 says "Nuby is loved by my biter." about Nuby Straw Sports Cup Sipper

When I first discovered the Nuby Straw Sports Cup sipper it was after testing 3 sippy cups and you would have thought I discovered gold. My son absolutely loves this sippy cup but I don't feel the same as him.

First, the straw part is easily to be chewed by a toddler that is teething so it creates a bigger hole than is intended and this leads to leakage. In my opinion, that defeats the purpose of a sippy cup. I find this to be the biggest drawback of this sippy cup as well as you are unable to purchase a new clear straw insert so you are left with a cup and ring with no viable way to replace the broken straw.

On the other hand, the one benefit of the Nuby Straw Sports cup sipper is that we were able to find it in many different colors i.e. Wal-mart, which was nice since Target sells a set of two and I wanted to buy specific boy colors. The second benefit is that cleaning was super simple I would take a bottle brush and scrub inside the sippy cup as well as the straw part and did not...
...

I got the Nuby Straw Sports Cup and my baby loves it. It is not too great for younger than 6 months I say, but it works rather well when your on the go alot. The only drawback is if they bite the straw. At 6-12 months they are steadily getting teeth and chewing things so be careful to watch them with this sippy cup. You may not want to put it in a dishgwasher either. I noticed the one I had tended to develop a small cloudy stain on it that I could not get off after putting it in the dishwasher. Even though it was supposed to be safe for use in it. That does not always mean it will be.
...

everettmhe says "Good idea - straw can be easily chewed through." about Nuby Straw Sports Cup Sipper

The Nuby Straw Sports Cups were a good idea. They are good shape and size for little hands. We also liked the idea of using a straw instead of sucking on a sippy cup like a bottle. We really thought this would be a positive step up from the sucking sippy cup, but still be spill proof. It was spill proof and working great for my two toddlers, until they strarted chewing the straws. They ended up chewing right through the plastic valve in the straw, therefore, making it able to spill everywhere. What a mess! Also, the straws were hard to keep clean. We used a bottle brush, but they still wouldn't get thoroughly cleaned. I would not recommend these cups to anyone.
...

This was my son's first sippy cup, and it works OK, but it didn't really help him learn to drink from a real cup. It didn't help him learn how to control the cup. He just didn't spill it every where. Also, he is now chewing thru the straws....

My daughter loves straws and so I thought this would be a nice addition to our sippy cup collection. I read the instructions and removed the straw for the first washing and since then I have not been able to assemble the cup back together so that it does not leak. How frustrating!
...

OK so this one leeks a little, you can't buy replacement straws, as our broke after the second use. Overall I would stick to Playtex sippy cups, they have never let me down....

This product would be great is straw was replaceable. manufacturer will not send replacement and it is not available in the US for purchase (product is made in Austrailia). I might or might not purchase new cups. It seems very wasteful although they were great while they lasted!...
