I've taken 2 different Norwegian cruises. The Sun is a beautiful ship and their staff is always great on every ship! You can't beat the freestyle dining adventure. You meet lots of great different people and only have to suffer one dinner with one you don't really care for them :-) The on board prices are not unreasonable, the tipping policy is also fine for the great service you receive. I am always looking forward to my next cruise with Norwegian. Perfect for couples or families can't say enough good about them! ...

We sailed aboard the Pride of America for our groups Haiwaii tour. I can't say how wonderful the staff was. They worked hard to keep the commodations up to par. The dinners on board were excellent. I can't tell you how refreshing it was to sleep with the balcony patio door open and just smell the fresh sea air and have the motion of the ship and the sounds of the ocean to lull us to sleep. Too bad we could not pack them up and take them with us (LOL). The shore tours were set up to accommodate our groups needs and the special needs of others within our group. Buses with special lifts for the handicapped were used. How convenient for all. The drivers of the tour buses were all interesting and gave great information about the area. Our group used 2 buses. I am sure we will all remember 'Tiny' our guide with the Polynesian Tours bus company. What a delightful personality.

If you are going to travel travel by ship. You only have to unpack once.

I took my first cruise with Norwegian- Free Style. It was great. We went on a 7 day cruise to Alaska via the inland passage. The ship was clean, the food was great and the staff was very gracious and attentive.

I would travel with Norwegian again!

There was lots to do, they had a libray, daycare and many activties to chose from during the day and night.
The atmosphere was great and so many things to chose from. no one with our group got bored. we had a large group of people of all ages and tastes.
We look forward to doing it again

DO NOT GO ON THIS SHIP. MY GRANDMOTHER WAS ON THIS SHIP AND SLIPPED BY THE POOL. THEIR STAFF REFUSED TO OPEN THE MEDICAL CENTER FOR HER. WHEN THEY WERE FINALLY FORCED TO THEY TOLD HER SHE SPRAINED HER ARM (WHEN SHE CLEARLY TOLD THEM IT WAS HER NECK AND NOT HER ARM THAT HURT) AND WOULD NOT TREAT HER ANY FURTHER, THEY LEFT HER FOR OVER 24 HOURS WITH A FRACTURED SPINAL CORD WHEN SHE WAS FINALLY OPERATED ON HER NECK WAS IN HER BACK AND SHE IS NOW ON LIFE SUPPORT AND MAY NOT MAKE IT.

WHEN THE BOAT DOCKED THEY WOULDNT EVEN LET HER OFF THE BOAT THEY TOLD US SHE WAS NOT A PRIORITY. DO NOT TAKE THIS CRUISE LINE FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY. SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN RUSHED OFF THE BOAT AS SOON AS THE INCIDENT OCCURRED, IF SHE HAD BEEN BROUGHT TO A REAL DOCTOR INSTEAD OF THE FACT DOCTORS ON THEIR BOAT WHO DONT REALIZE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A BROKEN ARM AND NECK THE DAMAGE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN AS EXTENSIVE. IF SHE DOES MAKE IT OFF LIFE SUPPORT SHE WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO USE HER ARMS OR HANDS AGAIN.

It was my first cruise ever, and I loved every minute! I highly recommend the flexibility of the freestyle cruising. It's definitely worth splurging on a room with a balcony, the views off the ship were breathtaking. The food and service were great and the ship was beautiful. I had more fun than I anticipated and I'm looking forward to my next cruise with Norwegian.

This was my first cruise and my husband and I still refer to it as our best vacation ever. It exceeded all of our expectations. The ship we found to be beautiful and even though we were in the smallest, inside cabin, we thought the accommodations were wonderful. The thing that also impressed us (we both work in the quality group at a food manufacturing plant) was the sanitizer that must be used before boarding the ship and before every meal. Obviously there is a reason that Norwegian has not been on the news due to a norwalk-like virus affecting the passengers....

We have been on multiple cruises over the last few years...but hesitated to bring our daughter after a bad experience on another cruise line where we NEVER got to eat a real meal in the dining room because the hours of the kids activities and our daughters nap times ALWAYS conflicted with our dining time. We had done the NCL freestyle before we had kids and enjoyed it, so thought we would try it and bring our 3 year old this time.

Praises for the freestyle dining program!! This made it MUCH easier to feed her on her schedule, and allow her to participate in all the activities she wanted to. Also kudos to the kids club staff who kept our daughter constantly wanting to go to Kids Club! She had a great time and met lots of kids her own age. She is an only child, so she really craves that interaction with others her own age.

Now, would we always choose NCL? No. When we choose to go by ourselves, we may or may not choose NCL, but when we have our daughter, its NCL (or DIsney) all the way. ...

The Sun was a beautiful ship. It has the amenities that one would expect from a large cruise line:

Excellent shopping - even some unexpected good deals!
Nice casino - can be very smoky if that bothers you, be fore warned!
Excellent entertainment - on board entertainment was definitely worth checking out!
Nice selection and variety of on board activities especially during days at sea - everything from movies, to dance lessons, lectures, and game competitions
Spa and work out rooms were top notch
The food - very good. To be honest, I have had better food on some other cruises, but the food on the Sun was certainly tasty! (It must have been - I gained 5 pounds!)
The service - over all very good. The free-style atmosphere means that you don't have the same servers everyday and in some cases, I noticed a different service level in the dining room perhaps because of that. The service was still very good though - just not excellent as it is on some cruises.

May 2006 All of us were held up at the Seattle center until late. Given a box lunch at 1 pm then cookies at 6pm. We boarded at 9:40pm. Room was not turned down but the $20.00 room fee was added to our bill. Raced to the dining room (free style dining) which closed every nite at 10 pm. The steak house was fantastic ($20 pp) and the best food we had on the ship. The nite time snack was in the casino was made up of dessert items and spicy chicken and not much else. I found it very difficult to get anything to drink if it wasn't alcohol.One time I went back to my room, called room service, ordered coffee and then took it out to the sitting area to view the water. The food that was offered thru room service was very disapointing; hot dog,potato chips etc. I would of thought the buffett would be available 24 hrs a day. One morning we had to depart early for a side trip. It was impossible to get into the dining area. Glad we didn't order room service because that was running late. My...

My cruise on the Norwegian Sun was my first. I'd go again with no reservations.

Free style cruising is having the luxury of deciding when and where you want to have your meals. There is no specific table to sit at. No specific time to eat. No eating what they happen to be serving that night. Free style is just that, free style. There are a variety of restaurants on board. Some are included and some cost a nominal fee...but well worth it! Some need reservations and some do not. You decide what you want to eat, where you want to eat it and when you want to dine. You can't beat it!

I'm one who loves to relax and do nothing...my husband is not! While on the water, I laid on deck, read my book and sipped cocktails. He spent his time in the casino. I even visited the spa twice, which was rather expensive, but everyone should experience it at least once. When we docked, we did some of the shore excursions, again, rather expensive, but if you're in a foreign land, you might as well go out and play....

The free-stlye cruising is the way to go. Eat whenever and whereever you want. Great food all the time. No dress up if you don't want to. Fantastic side excursions. The helicopter ride was super. So was the train ride into Canada. Loved Vancouver. Saw Whales & seals. The glacier was awesome. I'm ready to go back!...
