My husband and I along with another couple booked a week long cruise through the Hawaiian Islands on the Pride of America, NCL in August of 2008. All of us are experienced "cruisers", but none of us had sailed with NCL before. The list of disappointments and poor service is lenghty, but includes: broken furniture on our decks,which remained so all week even after complaining to front desk three times with the promise of replacement; the lack of being able to dine at resturants due to "private parties" both the first night and the last night of the cruise. Due to the lack of space for "fine dining", one had to chose between eating at the resturant of choice or seeing the entertainment show of the evening. Not cool; the 15% percent added general gratuity to our final bill . Needless to say, due to the fact that we had to ask for washcloths and towels, did not have our trash picked up for three days, and then the added irritation of the broken deck chair, we firmly refused to pay...

I loved the variety of restaurants on the ship. So much in fact, that my husband and I gained quite a bit of weight. The weather was awful and it would have been nice if there were more onboard activities since we couldn't do much in the way of shore excursions. But, I guess you can't really plan for a small hurricane :-)...

I got married a year ago but didn't really have a wedding. My husband and I decided to invite everyone on a cruise in Hawaii. So we found NCL who are the only ones who go around the islands. We booked on the Pride of Aloha but without being told they took that boat from the water and shifted my friends and family to Pride of America. WHAT A MESS THAT WAS!!! They made it seem like they were doing us a favor for even giving us another ship. The people on the phones were not that helpful and made planning my wedding difficult. So after many many problems we were finally ready to just get on the cruise and enjoy. Seriously the ship was amazing. The staff was so friendly and great and just made us forget the trouble that we had planning. We all had the best week of our lives and it was just a special week. So I would give a 5 star but the booking people kind of sucked. I'm sure that won't happen again so if you want to see all the islands and not have to fly this is...

Pride of America takes you island hoping in Hawaii.

The food is wonderful and the variety is amazing.

The service from the crew makes you feel like royalty.

If you are looking for a vacation that you can relax and be pampbered, chose the Pride of America.

I am an seasoned cruiser and out of all the line I am none to pleased with NCL. The staff wasnt anythhing to write home about. Our room was dirty from the last people. I found lots of trash crammed in nooks of our room. I even found some clothing behind the curtain. Dont even get me started on the food....

We ,ny wife along with my brother and his wife enjoyed the 7 night Island cruise fron Honolulu to Maui, Hawai ,and Kauai,which is now my favorite Island.If you have been to this island you have to believe in GOD,because on the hands of GOD could create something this beautiful.The service on board ship was great and we enjoyed the entertainment very much.The only problem I have with freestyle dinning is they should offer any menu that the speciality restaurants have to the budget conscious traveler who could not afford to pay and extra 25.00 for a certain steak or for shrimp and scallops.Cruising is the cheapest way to visit Hawaii.I would go again .This is our 4th time to Oahu and the Polynesian Culture Center and when we go back it will our 5th time to visit this place...

We cruised on Norweigian Cruise lines Pride of Hawaii in January 2008. Ship was very nice. Accomodations lovely. Staff pleasant.

We liked the break from the more tradational cruiselines. However the dining wasn't great. You had to have reservations (made 24 hours prior to dining). If you could get into that dining room the service and food were not great! And you had to pay a premium to dine in that restaurant. Usually the Free dining rooms were as good if not better!

The excursions are at least twice as much if you book it thru NCL. We found much better and longer excursions in Hawaii for half the price, when we found them ourselves on the island. Also leasing a car is much cheaper if you don't do it thru NCL!

Ship was very nice. Sevice was mostly good except the coffee bar was broke the entire cruise. No LATTE's!

Overall a good trip!

I have been on several cuises and this was by far the worst.

the staff was mostly new and grumbled and complained a LOT

there was a lot of healthy eatting choices but not much in the way for the kids to eat. My kids ended up eatting mostly ice cream

After we were promised prior to the trip that there would be many kid activities. The kid area was only opened a few hours a day, several of the kid leaders were not happy to be there. There was also nothing on the TV for the kids to watch and they only played two movies in the theater kid appopriate.

They also promised no formal dining but when we went to go to dinner it was only dress pants for the men and skirts for the women. We wanted to formal dining experience in casual clothing like the cruise line promised!

We took NCL Pride of America to Hawaii in December and LOVED it! The freestyle dining is much more relaxed than we had experienced on Royal Carribbean in the past. The islands were amazing and it gave us a good overview of places we wanted to return to in the future. The cruise ship was clean, the staff was pleasant and the service was good. We spend most of our time on the islands when at dock. We had no complaints! We are ready to do it again!!...

the pride of america was not the best cruise i had ever been on! i had read alot of reviews befor i went and i have to say that the style of the ship wasnt all to bad exept the broken window and according to other reviews it has been there for a while. the staff of the ship did NOT help at all! some acted like they didnt even care if they were there or not! and room service which was suppose to take 30 min. took about an hour and a half. the food was not even that grate and by the last few days they were running out of food. O and IF you do go on this trip dont let them fool u with there "free style crusing" nothing on this ship is free style

hawaii on the other hand was beautiful! i would suggest that you take a trip there! ( just maybe not on the cruise) every island that we went on had something new! i loved it

The ship itself was nice and very patriotic, but let's face it you are there more for the food and entertainment. The food is terrible. The buffet had the same set up everyday and as each day went on the service decreased as far as having the juice recepticles filled as well as the creamers and beverages available to take. The restaraunts were very disappointing. No one should be charging an additional cover charge to get into a ship restaraunt I don't care how good they think they are, (which they were terrible). Let's face it the food is all coming from the same place so it is either going to be good or not. To charge anywhere from $10-$20. a person cover charge plus drinks to get in to eat is absolutely terrible and as I said not good at all. The common bathrooms on most of the floors were never really that clean and the doors always had problems locking. The cabin balcony door did not lock all that well leaving it to open during the nights of sailing, hence waking you up. I overheard......

My husband and I and his 86 year old mother all went on our first cruise in March of this year. We had a great time! Our cabin was a little small for 3 people but not bad for the length of time we spent in it. It was always clean and all the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. The food at the buffet was pretty good and there was always an ample supply! We ate at afew of the specialty restaurants, and felt that the service and presentation were very good, but the food was not worth paying extra for. Having nothing to compare this cruise to, we felt it was a great experience and would definitely recommend it to others! The tours we went on were very nice, but expensive, so one day we ventured out on our own on a CITY BUS! It was really fun and so if I ever get to do this again I would definitely get a rental car instead of going on the tours. All in all..... a great trip!

The quarters were so small for three people you could not turn around in the cabin. The food was just average and later in the evening very few choices of resturants. The TV did not work in our cabin and the activities were geared mostly for younger people. For the amount of money the cruise cost we could have had a much better trip by staying in a hotel, and going on the excursions with the reccomended tour line in the city. we found this out the last day of the trip when our flight did not leave until that night and we had to be off the ship by 10 A:M. We had the best tours and the least costly on that day by not using the ships tour line and they took us straight to the airport when we needed to leave at no extra charge. In addition the ship was very crowded and the service was poor
