The volume is insufficient. The button design makes it difficult to press just the number you actually want without also getting the number on the other half of the button. The phone will occasionally shut itself off for no reason, even with a full charge and just sitting on the counter. Even with the keys locked, putting the phone in your pocket will result in random occurences. Reading the display is almost impossible in sunlight.... Consumer Cellular .. phone plan. I don't make many calls, nor receive many - most of the latter, are directed to an old, land-line type of telephone. .. The Nokia 1600 though, is VERY good, maybe even exceptional. The range and the battery life, especially, are very consistent .. even when I use the phone in outlying areas .. the Outer Banks of NC, for instance. .. If you can do WITHout expensive options .. pictures, texting, etc. .. then the Nokia can be one of the best, in the basics.... It is a small and compact bar style phone. The numbers are large and the screen is a great size.  It also has a very nice feature; to <strong><em>hear</em></strong> the time, you only have to push the '(*) Star' button. You also have a convenient 'lock keys' combo (2 keys). I have to tell you this as well, this phone is very <strong>DURABLE!</strong>...
