We started with Mario Kart for the Game Cube and Super Nintendo and the kids loved it. Now that we've upgraded to the Nintendo Wii, Mario Kart has taken on a new level. The kids enjoy beating mom and dad even more now.

Wii Mario Kart seems faster-paced than before, but with some of the classic thrills, chills, and banana peel spill from Mario Kart predecessors. Now there's also the option for online game play. The graphics are even better than ever, too. You can even personalize the game a step further and play as your Mii--a character you can create in the Wii home menu.

Using the steering wheel remote brings Wii Mario Kart even more to life. Just plug in the standard Wii remote controller and enjoy the sounds and vibrations from your wireless steering wheel. Orientation of the buttons and controls takes a little getting used to when using the Wii steering wheel, but you will, and you'll be glad you did.
...

Playing this game with the Wii wheel is good, but being able to use other controler is even better. There are 32 courses that can be mirrored, half original and half classic, in 3 diving classes can keep anyone busy for hours. Countless racers, ever their Miis, with their choice of cars and bikes and drifts under three different weight classes. The cars and bikes have their own set of features like karts have better mini-turbos, while bikes can do wheelies. You can beat the staff's assigned times in the Time Trial. You can be in one of two teams to either get the most points, pop the most balloons, or collect the most coins. You could be in tournaments to see how well you do compared to others. Best of all, with the use of the Nintendo WFC, you can race against others either regional and all over the world. Any way you look at it, Mario Kart Wii is a great game to get, alone or with your friends.
...

afloyd says "So much more fun with new controller." about Nintendo - Mario Kart Wii

As soon as I purchased the wii console I had to purchase this game. I have played many of the mario cart games, and was itching to play with the new controller. I had to adjust to the new controls at first. I found it very difficult at first. I almost gave up and used the classic controls. However, I decided to give it a little bit more time before I gave up on it. I now prefer the new controls to the older one. It makes me get into the game so much more. And, I find that it is easier to control once you get used to it. The game is very fun played on the two player mode. This is how I usually play the game with my husband. He also loves the game. He does not like to new controller, so he uses the classic controller when playing the game. I do love how the game gives you that option. I love the new controls, but can see why some would not be able to adjust to them. All in all I think this is one of the best games out there for the wii nintendo game system, and would buy it again...
...

Nintendo - Mario Kart Wii is a blast to play. The steering wheel is a must and makes playing the game much more fun. There are many new and interesting tracks as well as some tracks that throw back to Nintendo 64 and other nostalgic Nintendo game systems. Moving the remote around to steer your Kart is great because it is so intuitive and natural, most of us play race games that way even if the remote does not sense motion.

There are a lot of characters to choose from including your Mii and characters from other Nintendo Wii - Mario games. In Nintendo - Mario Kart Wii, there is a nice range of easy tracks and more difficult tracks, so it is great for young kids all the way to adults. This Nintendo games is the kind that you can play for hours and not get bored. There are also battle areas in addition to the regular race tracks.

Overall I think this is a great game even if it is a little on the high side for Wii games.
...

My husband wanted this bad. In fact, every boy seems to be initially attracted to this game. They play for an hour total, max, and then mysteriously no longer touch the thing. There is something attractive about driving games, expecially when you get to have a steering wheel. Brings on nostalgia for the arcade days. The things is that those games were better. This one has great graphics, they will make your head spin quick. But, these is no real point or purpose to this game. Despite great appearances, it is really boring. I think that it would be better if it came with a big seat like in the arcade. I would save your money and get a game with more plot or excitement. If you can rent a copy or borrow one then try it out first. The steering wheel included in the package is not neccesary to play and only a bit helpful. I also think that this is the one wii game we have that doesn't really take advantage of the motion sensing abiltities of the wii.
...

I think Mariokart Wii is such a great game. I have a three-year-old who loves to play it, which is amazing to me that he CAN play it. It's a challenge for him, but it's also a challenge for grown-ups with lots of ways to change the difficulty level. When you win races at three different CC levels on the karts you win more karts and characters. I also like the bright colors -- who said so many video games have to be so dark. It's been a great family activity at our house. It's also been fun (and sometimes frustrating) to watch my three-year-old play because he doesn't care if he wins. He has a great time in the races searching out shortcuts and driving through water, snow, and mud. He doesn't quite get the whole idea of the balloon and coin games. It's fun to play with a steering wheel, but you can play without it. I do wish you could use your own license at the same time as playing multi-player so it would go on your record, but that's not a big deal at all.
...

Dating back to the SNES days, Mario Kart is one of Nintendo's longest running franchises, and every new generation of Nintendo's consoles brings with it a new Mario Kart. Coming after the absolute masterpiece that was Mario Kart Double Dash for the Gamecube and a solid portable showing for the Nintendo DS, the Wii incarnation of Mario Kart has some pretty big shoes to fill. In most ways, it fills them very well.

Mario Kart Wii is built around the use of the Wii Wheel, which is a small plastic shell that fits around the Wii Remote and acts as a steering wheel, allowing the player to control the action by tilting the controller back and forth, much like in the earlier Wii racing title Excite Truck. I have to admit that I was skeptical about the wheel at first - it just seemed very gimmicky. Much to my surprise, however, it offers such a tight control scheme that I've yet to put much time into any of the other control options that the game offers. (If you don't want to use the wheel you have...
...

Mario Kart Wii is a great party game and nearly a must have if you're a mario fan. This game allows the use of 4 different controllers, and the wii wheel is included. The wheel is an accesory for the wiimote so you can steer your kart by turning the wheel. The controls for the wheel are surprisinugly very responsive, but it does take some getting used to. There are 16 new tracks as well as 16 from the previous series. Also, you can choose to use bikes or karts as well. The differences are that bikes and do wheelies, but karts get a bigger drifting boost. A drifiting boost is when you drift sparks will fly from your tires and when they turn blue you get a small boost, but karts can wait till they turn orange for a bigger boost. A wheelie allows a bike to move at top speed in a straight line, but if they are hit they will lose a lot of speed. Also, new to the series are tricks. These can be done off ramps or bumps and you get a speed boost when you land. Most of the...
...

Brittanyls says "Am I the only one who can't play this game?" about Nintendo - Mario Kart Wii

Okay, first off, let me say, I've always been a fan of Mario. I have Mario Kart DS, and I absolutely love it. But, for some reason, I just can't get into this game.

For the most part, this really is a great game. Racing games are always fun. The tracks are ah-mazing. The graphics and sound are also breathtaking. What is a little repetitive, though, what with the four different difficulty levels: 50cc, 100cc, 150cc, and 150cc Mirror Class (which I haven't played in; I'm pretty bad at this game.) For each level, you have to repeat the races over again. In some levels you can only use "karts" and in others you can only use bikes.

What really bugs me, though, is the lack of control with the WiiMote. I'm not really comfortable using the WiiMote sideways or in the WiiWheel. You drive by turning the WiiMote sideways and pressing 2, using the arrow pad for items, and B for brakes. Sometimes, I'll turn the WiiMote, and it won't respond, I'll hit a wall, have to slowly back...
...

My kids love to play thier Nintendo Wii but we have a lot of fighting over who's turn it is. I'm always looking for games that are at least two player so when I saw that up to four players could play on this game, I just had to try it out. My kids love the game and all four of my kids can play. They love that they get to choose their own teams and people. My two younger kids were so excited when we added the steering wheels to the controller. It is also fun to play by themselves but they love to compete against each other.
...

My husband and I love our Nintendo Wii. I am not an avid gamer, but I do enjoy a good Mario Bros. game every now and again. Mario Kart, however, is a different story. I find I have to force myself to stop playing so I can focus on things around the house that need to get done (dishes, laundry, etc.). I could easily play this all day!

I enjoy choosing my favorite characters and the bike/cart I get to drive (my fave is the Quacker for lightweight characters - not just because it's a duck, but it handles amazingly well, also - the Mach Bike for middle weight is a close second). To be honest, I used to pick vehicles based on how cool they look, but my husband is now proud of me for actually checking the stats and choosing the bike the rides better.

We also enjoy the option to race using our Miis and seeing our Mii characters featured in the opening sequences of the races - that's fun for me.

Now, just playing the races would get rather boring after awhile (given the limited number...
...
