I purchased my Nikon D60 while on vacation. I always wanted a SRL digital camera and this seemed very affordable for the quality. The camera is very lightweight and extremely easy to use. Straight out of the box, I was able to take some really great pictures. When I got home from my vacation, I began to read the manuel and started to learn some of the features the camera had. It has the ease of a point and shoot as well as the advantages of a SRL camera. You can go very manuel with this camera setting the apperature and speed. Once I started playing with some of the settings, it was like using my old 35mm Konica from 30 years ago. The camera body also allows for different lenses to be used as well. I have sine bought a 55-200mm telephoto lense. The vibration reduction technology of the lense keeps all your pictures very sharp. The edges of the picture are just as sharp as the center. All in all, I am very happy with this camera. For the price and the quality, I...
...

Coffeebug says "The Nikon D60 is perfect for more than POS but less than pro." about Nikon - D60 Digital Camera

Having used a friend's Nikon D200 for several weeks, I was quickly convinced of the quality, ease, and user-friendliness of Nikon's and knew it was the camera for me. However, the price on the D200 (now the D300 and similar "semi-professional" models) is typically in the $1500+ range for the basic camera, which was out of reach for me particularly when considering additional lenses and other equipment. When shopping for my own digital SLR 18 months ago, I came across several package deals on D60 model -- approximately $700 for the camera and standard 18-55 mm lens but with VR plus a second VR lens 50-200 mm. With a little sweet-talking at Best Buy, I also ended up with a small tripod, a Lowepro case, and a speedy 8 gig SD card for just a bit more.

I'll be the first to admit that I have not read the manual for this camera, and I should. I use the camera primarily to take photos of my daughter and have used it as a slightly more advanced POS but haven't really tapped into the great features...
...

I purchased the Nikon D60 about 10 months ago and I love it still. In comparison to other cameras, it's not too expensive and takes great photos. I don't use mine professionally but I have used it for a friends wedding and they pics turned out great. My only complaint with the D60 is the continuous shooting mode. The manual states that it will shoot 3 frames per second, but it seems like it gets hung up sometimes. It will shoot the first one, then it keeps trying to refocus before shooting the 2nd. But all in all, the camera was well worth the money as long as you get the lenses to go along with it.
...

I waited a long time to convert over to a digital camera; waiting for the quality to get good enough to compare to the film camera, and last year finally gave in and bought one. After a lot of research I settled on the Nikon D60 for it's reasonable cost, similarity in look and feel to a film camera, and brand reliability.

I received it promptly and immediately started playing around with it. Even after a year I know I still have a lot of learning to do and figuring out of all the menu settings, but I've been very happy with it just the same. In point and shoot mode it is easy to use for anyone and the lenses provided (wide angle and 200 zoom) offer a good range as well.

It has a built in flash as well as a hot shoe to attach flash to and both are easy to use and work well. The menu offers a large variety of built in digital filters and effects to apply to pictures taken, as well as settings to give different exposure, cropping and lighting options. The menu settings are pretty self explanatory...
...

My wife last year mentioned she wanted to buy a nice camera, to get out and take some nice pictures. She wanted to take a photography class and take pictures as a hobby. I decided to buy her one for Christmas, and after researching many sites, many camera owners and anything else I could, I settled on the Nikons.

The only reason I bought the D60 was the price, the others were more expensive, with the exception of the D40 and D40x. The D40 does not have the options the D60 has, and is only 6 megapixel. If you're going to take the pictures, for the price buy the D60. Though the D40x is a 10 megapixel too, with fewer options than the D60 for close to the same price.

The Nikon D60 is great! The picture quality is simply amazing. I can shoot a picture across the yard, and see hairs on the face, the detail is awesome. I've had several people comment on the color, and quality of the pictures I took. The more I use this camera, the more in awe I am of it.

It's very easy to use,...
...

The Nikon D60 is a great camera. It is lightweight and compact which is great for travel. It has a 200mm VR lense which is great for vibration reduction which can cause pictures to be less blurry. The camera comes with many features from built in effects, red eye reduction, color metering, lighting, and others. I would recommend this camera to others.

I have been able to take great pictures with my camera. It has allowed me to experience digital photography and take it to the next level. This is a great starter camera as well because it is not to difficult to learn.

I enjoy my Nikon and look foward to purchasing more Nikons in the future. Nikon is a great company to purchase from.
...

I purchased the Nikon D60 the day before going on a trip to Hawaii. Having owned several Nikon point and shoot cameras, I've grown accustom to the Nikon interface and wanted to continue to use it. Being a techie, I would normally choose a higher end model, but since this was a last minute purchase, I wasn't willing to invest the amount of cash required to go with the D90 or D300. Although reading more about the D90 on the flight to Hawaii, I started to have second thoughts about not purchasing the higher model.

The buyer's remorse ended just a few minutes after shooting my first pictures on the D60. The response from the D60 surprised me. To allow for the most flexibility in editing, I saved my pictures in the Nikon Raw format. I was further delighted later that night when I used the included Nikon Transfer software to transfer the pictures from the D60 to my laptop - Yes, I know I could have just plugged in the SD memory card into my laptop, but Nikon Transfer performed...
...

My Nikon D60 digital camera provides all of the power of digital SLR photography in a small package. It is economical because it uses SD memory cards, without sacrificing any of the functionality of a SLR camera. With the vibration reduction lens technology, I can shoot pictures at up to three stops lower than conventional lenses. Anyone new to digital SLR photograpy will find the camera easy to use. From completely automatica point and shoot to fully manual adjustments, the D60 will take great pictures all of the time. There are so many features that are easily learned, this camera is one of the best SLR bargains on the market today. There are 30 or more Nikkor lenses that can be used with this camera. The legendary Nikon quality is apparent from the moment you open the box. The user is able to pop in the battery and begin taking high quality photos from the very first click! This camera is already a best seller and is destined to be a classic in the digital photograpy...
...

I own a Nikon 35mm SLR camera and I am a hobbiest photographer. This Nikon was my current dream camera. I mentioned to my mother that I would love to have this camera and since she was in the market for a digital camera she went out and bought it. She was glad not to have the hastle of comparing. I have honestly used it more than she has. It is similar in design to my 35mm so I felt comfortable right away with using it. I must say there is so much more to this camera then just using it like you would a point and shoot camera. I love that I can use it on manual and reset it easily so mom can use the auto function. If you plan to buy this then you need to get to know it. Your pictures will be so much better if you are familiar with the equiment you use! I have now photographed a wedding using this camera and was pleased with the stunning results. The Nikon D60 is user friendly but is not simple to use; by that I mean this would be pretty intimidating for a...
...
