Matt says "Niki in the Garden is a homerun for kids and parents alike" about Niki de Saint Phalle

I took my three kids and eighty-year old Aunt to the Niki in the Garden exhibit at Garfield Park. It was WONDERFUL! Kids get in for free and adults are $5.

The sculptures are mammoth! With beautiful, bright mosaics and cool pieces of tile, glass, wood you are mesmerized by French artist Niki de Saint Phalle's talent and ability.

The kids can climb, scale and hide in this magnicient works of art. And, the museum has a clever and simple scavenger hunt that gives each child and board with stickers and they have to match the photos of details of the works to the large picture of it. It was simple enough for my 3 year old to do with help and exciting enough for my 8 and 6 year olds to do on their own.

The exhibit is out until the October 31st. Run don't walk. You'll love it!

...

vytas says "If only all art was this much fun!" about Niki de Saint Phalle

This is what art should be - fun, engaging for all ages and put a smile on your face. This is exactly what the sculpture show named Niki in the Garden does and my kids couldn't get enough of it. There are over 30 sparkling, colorful sculptures displayed among the flora of the conservatory (no not a music conservatory - it's a massive green house) and in the adjoining gardens at the back of the conservatory. These are the work of French artist Niki de Saint Phalle. The sculptures are whimsical, colorful and more often than not just calling out to be touched (and in some instances climbed or sat upon). The artist used various glass materials in the surface of her creations, from mosaic glass and mirrors to marbles and art glass making her sculptures both a visual and tactile feast. This is one show that is a must for all ages. Make sure to bring a camera!

The show runs until October 31st at the Garfield Park Conservatory in the heart of Chicago's west side.

For details visit: http://www.nikiinthegarden.com/......
