My doctor reccommended for me to quit smoking, but i haven't been able to "kick" the habit yet. so she then reccommended for me to slowly try to cut back 1 step at a time. i started smoking when i was 12 yrs old (i'm 28 now) up to 2 whole packs of filtered smokes a DAY!!!

i recently have been diagnosed with asthma and that i'm at a higher risk for all sorts of breathing problems, (including lung cancer) i've seen that as a serious sign to think really hard about cutting back and quitting.

i've gone for 5 days without any type of nicotine, and just chewing this gum, i did really GREAT!!! the whole week went by without a problem whatsoever...

but on the 2nd--3rd week of quitting, it got really hard for me...i know that a lot of people say the 1st week is the hardest, but it was the opposite for me....i just couldn't deal with the gum nor the cravings anymore and started smoking again

now, i'm trying once more, and i've found that i smoke way more during the day than i do at night-time,...
...

married2mrwright says "I'm now a non-smoker thanks to Nicorette" about Nicorette Fruit Chill 4mg Coated Stop Smoking Gum

I am 40 and have smoked since I was 12 years old. I quit smoking 12 weeks ago with the help of Nicorette gum. It's helped me be successful and now a non-smoker! It takes the edge off the cravings. I have tried the patch in the past and it didn't help with the cravings enough for me. Nicorette has a great taste. You chew it 4 or 5 times then you park it in your cheek to let your body absorb the nicotine. If you continously chew it you may get hiccups because the nicotine is irritating to the esphogaus so chew it a few times then park it!

You also need to make sure you chew enough each day to keep your cravings under control. Don't be afraid at first to use a piece every hour. I would suggest you set a quit date, on that date use a piece every hour. The first week of quitting is the hardest, hang in there and don't give up! You can do it. If I can quit smoking, anyone can! My cigarettes were my bestfriend! Good luck and I wish you well.
...

CyndiA says "Nicorette stop smoking gum gave me the hiccups from hell. " about Nicorette Fruit Chill 4mg Coated Stop Smoking Gum

When Nicorette came out with Fruit Chill on a flavor for stop smoking gum, I thought that sounded like a good bet. I don't like mint, and most of the gums (stop smoking or not) lean that way. Ugh. I avoid mint toothpastes and anything else mint. I just don't like it, and it makes my tongue quiver like I've had some super hot food.

I tried Nicorette fruit chill gum twice. Both times I got these chest busting hiccups. I do not mean normal hiccups. I mean that if I had smoked a cigarette, it probably would have blown out hurricane force windforce and pierced the wall.

Both times, when I spit the gum in a Kleenix, those hiccups went away. Hum. Sounds like a pattern.

I looked up this gum, and hiccups are a side effect. That does not sound like a big deal. Hiccups happen. These were not normal hiccups though. I could not talk, walk, or even think normal with my body spazing from sudden onset tsumani hiccups.

This gum does work for some (based on things I've read), and that's great. I wish it worked...
...
