I had my laptop for a year and used it for nothing more than a solitaire machine because I had no idea how to get internet service on it. I went to Walmart and after conferring with the customer service rep in electronics, purchased the Netgear WGR614 (because it was the only model available for under 100 dollars)

I got home, opened the box and within MINUTES I was on my laptop---ONLINE! The set-up instructions are clear and concise. The instructions to install were accompanied by colorful numbered stickers placed on each of the parts. Absolutely foolproof. PERFECT for the tech-weary such as myself.

That was a couple months ago, and I have not had a single ounce of trouble out of this router. It has worked without fail or issues of any kind. The signal is strong and I am able to connect to my network from any room in my house. It is small and attractive and takes up almost no space at all on my computer desk. I highly recommend this product!

The Netgear Wireless Router is the best ever. I'll never have to buy another one again. It works everytime I get online. It never disconnects me and I never have any problems with it. I recommend that lots of people should buy wireless routers. Its much better than having wires all over the place. This product is great.

Very nice product, it needs little bit adjustment in the beginning like stup but after that voila. So why are you waiting for enjoy and have fun. I recently purchased this router for my new laptop. It works great. I haven't had any problems and the set up was a breeze. I am a stay at home Mom that is going back to school and I have about 12 years of computer experience. That is that I have been using computers for that long, certainly not working on them. I got this item at Best Buy for $45.

The one think that I would like to point out that you may not hear from your local Best Buy employee, (however mine was nice enough to remind me of this), is that you MUST set up an encrypted password or anyone in your area has the potential to log on to your network. This was a little challenging but I eventually figured it out by going right to the netgear website.

One last note is that I was going to go with a router with the "N" on the box (it was more expensive and had some extra features) and was told that the routers with the "N" on them where for multiple users and generally for the high end laptops (meaning laptops that cost about $1300...

Out of the box, this piece of equipment has been a joy. The install wizard took me from a wired router to the wireless router painlessly. Our secure network was simple and effective to set up. The only downside (which doesn't matter for my use) is that it doesn't have bridge capabilities. I would highly reccomend this router should you desire to untangle yourself from the cables....

This was a good buy for the price. Have not had any problems during setup or after, the computer will sometimes run a little slower with 2 or more connected but other than that it isn't a significant slowdown. Overall I am very impressed and would definetly purchase this brand of product again!

I have had this item for three years and have not had a problem. The only time it slows down is when we have more than two computer on it. It is not too slow but enough for me to notice the difference. I have always been able to get on the internet though this item. I have been very satified....

Great set of features, blocking HTTP, etc... good for parents who do not want their kids seeing porn, and certain websites... The wireless range is good, and usually steady

I had alot of issues with it overheating and needing reset, especially if i tried to use MSN messenger webcam, on my wireless laptop. There is a "fix" for this, but I never did it (opening the case, and drilling a bunch of holes in the casing....)

I DO like this router alot better than the new one I have.

I would still recommend netgear to people, just not this model... netgear is a great product line, and usually very reliable.. the just went a bit wrong with this one and the 624
...

I did not have to hook up this unit my local cable provider did it for me. It is hooked up to our main computer unit but allows me to use my laptop anywhere in the house. It works extremely well and I enjoy being able to go online even though someone else is occupying the main computer.

The speed does range depending on how far you are from the unit but I found out that there are factors that contribute to this. Cordless phones, speakers and some other electronic gadgets that interfere with the signal. It is rarely the 10 mb/s that our internet runs at on the desktop but it still keeps up pretty good with my needs and demands.

My husband and I bought this router to get Internet service on his Playstation 3 and my laptop. It easily allows us to both work at the same time. This is perfect for us since I prefer the comfort of sitting on the couch to work and to be in the same room as him. I bought my wireless NetGear at Wal-Mart under $50 dollars. The set up was easy. I can move my computer anywhere in my house and get a good signal. Perfect for the laptop. My mom went wireless. I went to Wal-Mart and bought her the same router. She wasn't as happy as me. The router has to be turn off and on about once month. She always thinks it the Internet providers fault. LOL...
