I searched for years for a food that my dogs would thrive on and finally found it in Natural Balance's Fish & Sweet Potato. The no grain/no gluten approach has done wonders for their coat and overall health and they actually chow it down!

Is anyone else annoyed by over-enthusiastic clueless reviewers of pet products??
There are people on other sites that rave about Beneful and think it's the best thing on earth - that doesn't mean it isn't the worst food you could possibly feed your animal. There is no doubt that you could do much worse than this food -- but for the price it just makes no sense to consider this food as an option. You an actually buy the best dog food on the planet for less money - you have about two choices, Solid Gold barking at the moon, and Wellness Core - those are the top tier, no contest, no debate.

I have searched many Internet opinion sites for the best dog food and this one is consistently ranked well. It is not the best but it is readily available at the Petco near me. I was torn between trying Solid Gold and Natural Balance but this one was easier on the pocket book and after 10 bags at Petco, they send you 1 free. My dog has done well on this food and at first the poop was very soft and mushy but after 1 & 1/2 months the dog has gotten accustomed to it and it lays nice logs that are easy to pick up....

I recently switched to Natural Balance because our previous brand changed their ingredients and caused my dog to vomit. Natural Balance didn't make him vomit. But we tried Natural Balance a year and a half ago with negative results. The gourmet dog food store assured us issues were resolved. Now my lab mix has bald spots on his ears from scratching excessively. He's never had this problem before. I hear this is due to a protein deficiency and am in search of a high (single) protein dog food. Would appreciate any suggestions....

About a year ago, my min pin became inactive and lossing hair by the patches. My daughters dog (American Eskimo & Pekenesse) also lossing hair by the hands full. I switch my dogs to Natural Balance, they are bouncing around like puppies. Their coats are shiny and thick. No more hair loss other than they typical annual loss of their winter coat. I have recommended this product to all my family and friends with dogs. I will never give my dogs another brand of dog food again.

After having both of my dachshunds on Nutro Natural Lamb & Rice, I switched to Flint River Ranch Puppy & Adult Kibble with recommendations from many of their all natural, human grade food. Flint River was really good, a bit expensive, but good - however, apparently my dog Cooper has an allergy to chicken. He started losing his hair all down his back and his belly.

Although Flint River has a non-chicken recipe - I took recommendations to try Natural Balance and I can say that I've never been happier! It's easier to get at PetCo or PetSmart (Flint River was online only), I get coupons all the time for it, and they also make wonderful dog treats and cookies with the same high quality ingredients! I don't feel that the Natural Balance is expensive - but it's definitely not inexpensive.

Both my doxies eat every bit of their food each day (something that never happened with either Nutro or the Flint River) and their stools and stomachs do just fine. I use to have to mix pumpkin with...

I have nothing to find fault with in terms of the ingredients or manufacture of this product, but I struggle to understand why its price point is significantly higher than most products of its type. I also wonder what Dick Van Patten's name attached to the product is supposed to do in terms of assuring us of its quality and effectiveness. I don't use it specifically due to cost, because there are other products out there that deliver same quality at lesser cost. For folks dealing with allergy issues, there are some good and unique combinations that may help alleviate those issues, but this still isn't in the class of a prescription diet such as one might get from a vet....

I switched my two Chocolate Labradors to Natural Balance about three years ago after searching for a quality premium brand with no corn as an ingredient. My dogs had suffered from skin infections that I think stemed from food allergies and my vet said that Labs are sensitive to corn. I spent several hundred dollars treating my dogs for skin infections. Since switching to Natural Balance, we haven't had any skin infections or outbreaks - None!

The cost of the food is well worth it compared to the misery of my dogs being scaby and itchy. Their coats look great and they are full of pep!...

Though our big black lab looks very healthy, he has a rather sensitive digestive system and had on-going problems until Natural Balance was recommended to us. He doesn't tolerate anything with rice in it, so we tried the fish and potato Natural Balance, and he's been on it for several years now with no problems. Yes, it's a bit expensive, but PetCo (which is the only store I know that carries it) has a nice program of getting a free bag after every 10 purchases....

I love this dog food for it's all natural qualities. I rescued my dog from a shelter and he was being fed Pedigree which he loved until I found out how much fat and rich it was. I was at a pet trade show and came accross the Natural balance brand. I got a sample and took it home to see if he would like it and he did. That was a definite no brainer too switch. I also liked that with this product it could grow with him. I didn't have to go from a puppy formula to an adult formula. He doesn't care for all the flavors though so I stick to what he knows. He is a year and a half now and I can say has not had any digestive problems at all. He is as regular as the day is long. I also love that this food comes in a variety of types. I typically use the dry formula, but I also use the rolls as a special treat. I slice it up and put it in his kong or I grate the roll right onto his food as a special treat. He is practically climbing the counter waiting with excitement. I......

This is one of my very favorite dogfood labels. The ingredients don't contain any junk at all. They use healthy brown rice and oatmeal instead of less nutritious corn or potentially dangerous wheat products, all of their meats are superior quality (no by-products!), and the variety in flavors and specialized offerings gets better all the time.

Also, the dogs sure love it!

I know that concern about the melamine contamination is valid, and so does Natural Balance. They have enstated a "Buy with Confidence" service where you can check test results on your products via either a web feature or a 1-800 number.

Before I became a dog rescuer, I did not know much about dog foods. Believe me, there are a lot of poor crappy products out there. natural balance carries Dick Van Patten's name on the bag. if you can't trust the dad from Eight is Enough, who can you trust?

Seriously, this is a very good dog food and it must be tasty because the dogs really like it. Their coats are luxurious and thick and healthy. This is worth the extra money....you will save money in the long run because you will not have to deal with vet bills!

We tried several brands of pet food until we found one that settled well for our greyhound's sensitive stomach. Natural Balance Ultra was our saving grace ... no more mess potty walks, if you know what I mean. This food is on the expensive side, but many pet stores participate in the Natural Balance buy 10 get one free card, so that helps a little bit over the long haul....
