I started feeding my dog Natural Balance dog food after reading an article that rated various brands of dog food. Most store bought brands rated below 60 out of 100, mainly due to their use of filler that is hard for dogs to digest. Natural Balance received a 92 out of 100.

Natural Balance comes in several flavors and formulas, but the one I chose for my dogs was a grain-free formula (also called limited ingredient and allergy friendly). Corn, wheat, and other products like this are hard for dogs to digest, and can lead to problems if the dog has an intolerance. Since one of my dogs already had allergies, I didn't want to feed her food with added allergens. After sampling all the flavors (the dogs, not me), they seemed to prefer the Sweet Potato & Fish formula.

Since putting my dogs on Natural Balance, I've seen a marked improvement in their coats- thicker, shinier, and softer. I've also seen less waste in the yard- this right here is evidence that this food is full of ingredients and nutrients...

I have a 3 year old Chinese Shar-pei who I have had a difficult time with regarding her health. When she was 6 months old she began throwing up anything she ate and what she didn't throw up she squirted out the other end! I took her back and forth to the vet trying this prescription food and that prescription food along with meds with no luck. I was so scared I would loose her! Then I saw Natural Balance Sweet Potato and Fish hypoallergenic hard dog food at my local pet store and decided I might as well try it with her. I couldn't believe it!!! She could keep this food down!!! The vet was shocked too and examined the ingredients, then admitted this seemed to be an excellent quality food. Hope (my shar-pei) is now 3 years old and functions as normally as any dog as long as she eats Natural Balance and takes her meds.Also, just so you know, I used to work at a pet store and people have told me this food has worked miracles for their dogs who were suffering from food allergies and......

I started feeding my dogs Natural Balance sweet potato and fish about a year ago. Even though I was giving them supplements their coat seemed to be a little dry. Since I switched over to this food I noticed it is no longer dry and their fur seems to be silkier and softer.

Before I switched over I researched them on line and they were one of the highest rated natural dog foods. They are so safety concious that they even have a website were you can enter in the expiration date of your food and they will give you testing results on it.

I highly recommend it.

I am a self-described Dog Food Snob. I've done the research, and I read the ingredients on the bag before even considering giving a food to my dogs. Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance passes my strict guidelines!

The ingredients are quality. There is no corn, soy, or wheat which can lead to allergies in some dogs. Fish oils are very good for dogs with skin issues, which a lot of foster dogs have when they come to me.

The real test, though, is that my dogs love it. One of my dogs will eat anything, but the other is a real picky eater. I've never seen her enjoy a dog food as much as this one!

Nutritious, healthy, and apparently delicious!

Let's start out by saying that I try to be pretty careful about what I eat, so I think my dog Libby deserves the same consideration (although left to make her own choices, I have noticed that she sometimes eats some pretty disgusting stuff--lol.) I try to stick with food that doesn't have artifical preservatives or artificial coloring, and as far as pet food goes, "animal by-products" are a big no-no. I look for high quality ingredients, and I'm willing to pay more for them, even though I don't have lots of money.

Libby has some allergy issues; sometimes she is itchy and her coat gets on the dry side, but since she has been eating Natural Balance Fish and Sweet Potato Formula canned dog food, her coat has been softer and shinier, and the itching is at a minimum. She's not a real picky eater, but I can tell when she's enthusiastic about a particular kind of food, and she really enjoys eating this one.
