Jaimeee says "I don't understand the Love Affair with this Product" about Mr. Clean Magic Eraser

I've tried Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser twice now and both times it failed for me.

The first time, it was for crayon marks on the wall. Magic Eraser did not remove them. I ended up sanding them off and re-painting.

Disenchanted, I didn't bother with the Eraser again until recently. There were some mystery fingerprint marks on a wooden door in our house. I tried the Magic Eraser again on these. I wet it down (as suggested) and rubbed. Nothing. I rubbed harder. The marks lightened, but were not gone. I finally gave up. After the area dried, I saw that the Magic Eraser had removed the finish and stain of the wood! It had left the fingerprint marks, but had removed the finish on the door.

So far, I have found this product to be worse than useless.

I don't understand why people rave about it.
...

I began using this product approximately six months ago and to be totally honest, I don't need any other sprays or cleaners. I have hard water stains on my tubs and shower units and I don't have to use harsh chemicals to remove the stains just rub and they are gone. I cannot even begin to tell you the stains it has removed, permanent ink, no problem. You should see what it does to those dirty tennis shoes. Great product overall can I give it 10 stars?
...

I tried the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser because I was curious after seeing the commercials and came across a coupon! I got my first chance to use the eraser after my son drew in crayon all over his bedroom walls! In a fury, I scrubbed and scrubbed with rags soaked in all sorts of cleaners and had little to no success. My husband reminded me of my newly purchased eraser and away I went expecting to have to use the same elbow grease with the same results.
Imagine my surprise when this product did exactly what it said it could do! The crayon came right off and the paint wasn't damaged! I was so impressed, I immediately called my mother-in-law and suggested she buy some to use as well.
Since that day, the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser has been a staple in our home and the home of many of our friends and family. I can't think of a single time that this little creation has let me down, and I have three kids!
...

The newest staple in my home. Perfect for quick clean-up of scuff-marks that used to take me more time and energy to remove. It's great for clean-up around pet areas since it is chemical-free so it doesn't expose my pets to chemicals that could make them sick. I keep one with my car-care items for fast removal of break dust and road tar from my car.
...

KriticalKen says "Truth in labeling at its most pure." about Mr. Clean Magic Eraser

I can't believe I never used a Magic Eraser sponge until a few months ago, when my Realtor told me about them. When were these things invented? Where have they been all my life? To think of all of the hours of scrubbing I could have avoided over my lifetime. I could have written the Great American Novel.

Basically, this is a sponge imbued with miraculous micro-abraisive properties: enough to dislodge stains, smudges and in general, schmutz, from walls and surfaces, seemingly without every discoloring or in any way marring the surface. What more could you ask for? (What is the secret formula? I would love to know. Ground up pieces of Stonehenge?)

A real-life example: I was in serious trouble with the Darling Wife for wacking a fly against the wall with a glossy magazine. How was I supposed to know that this would not only splatter the fly against the wall, but more problematically, leave an indelible ink imprint that would resist soap, water, Fantastik and all the elbow grease I could muster?...
...

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser is a miraculous product. I had doors that just would not come clean. I cleaned and cleaned to no avail. When I found Mr. Clean Magic Eraser the problem was solved. Those doors became so clean!

I also discovered that Mr. Clean Magic Eraser would remove scuff marks from the linoleum floor. Those scuff marks are not easy to remove.

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser cleaned the ceramic tile counters. Made them bright again.

I highly recommend Mr. Clean Magic Eraser kitchen appliances (refrigerator, stove, microwave oven, toaster, etc.). You won't be disappointed with the results.
...

h3art2h0m3 says "A little elbow greese and magic make anything dissapear." about Mr. Clean Magic Eraser

I don't like spending money. For most of my cleaning purposes I buy a concentrated multi-purpose cleaner for everything from counters and floors to light fixtures and light-switch covers. The magic eraser came as a sample in the mail and sat in my cupboard forgotten. That is until my pre-schooler found big brother's coloring box and made a mural of our hallway wall. Caution to all parents: Never trust a quiet child! Smearing pencil, marker, paint and pencil all over during her nap-time I never thought it would be clean again. Scrubbing with towels straight concentrated cleaners and even S.O.S. pads some was still stuck. With a wish, a prayer, and a desperate hope I used anything and everything I could find in my cupboard and then I found my eraser! With a little bit of elbow grease I found it worked better without water. My wall was cleared within the day! I now always keep one in the cupboard at all times. The only thing I don't like is how it crumbles away when over used. Since then...
...

mrsgaynell says "Yes it's magic" about Mr. Clean Magic Eraser

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser is perfectly named, it's magic. I don't know how it works, I just know it works. Nothing to add but a little water. When first looking at the price, it seems expensive, but you're buying the cleaner and the sponge. I only use them for monthly heavy cleaning because they are rather expensive. I haven't had any problems with it working on anything. I've used it on the stove-top, oven door, refrigerators, walls, cabinets, ceiling fans.

I have noticed the depending on where you buy them, they don't last as long. I got a great price for a double pack at Walmart, and they didn't last as long as the ones I buy at Dominick's for about $3 a pack.

I haven't bothered to read what's in it, but it doesn't irritate my eczema, so it's gentle, but effective. Great for visiting nieces and nephews who are still young enough to want to help with housework. No mess, just a little water, show them where to wipe, no water streaks, it's absolutely great!!!!!

The Magic...
...

I just love the Mr. Clean Magic Erasers. I have used them on everything. My three kids have put markers, crayons, even permanent markers on stuff and I have been able to get it off with the Magic Erasers. They so easy to use. With a little bit of water and light scrubbing and whatever want off is off. I even used them on really old plastic patio chairs that were out in the weather for about 13 years and the gunk on the chairs just came right off and then I hosed them off and they looked like new again. AMAZING! The price is about right and they just come in an easy to open box. The more you use them the more they disinigrate right before your eyes and you don't have to worry about disposle. There is no smell to them at all and my kids love to help me clean stuff. We have a plastic desk that gets marked up all the time and they love to see how clean they can get it. It's so easy my four year old daughter can use them. It really is like magic! kids
...

Magic Eraser is the best invention since the microwave oven. I always have extra on hand and if you have children this product is an absolute must. I love the way it cleans the soap scum off the shower door and gets the rough surface of the shower stall floor sparkling clean. I have used it to remove crayon markings as well as pen and marker off countertops and even from some clothing.

I find it very useful when cleaning splatters off the stovetop or microwave and I was very surprised to see it clean hair dye splatters off the kitchen wall.

I have heard though that you should not let a small child help you by using a magic eraser since it may cause burns on their hands, although I have not seen this happen in person and never want to.

One trick I learned with regards to the large size of the magic eraser is to cut in in half before using it because the more you wet it the less it works so this way you get more use out of it.
...
