As part of their summer marketing campaign called DEWmocracy, which we've explored extensively here on BevReview.com, PepsiCo has released the first of 3 "finalists" to be the next Mountain Dew flavor: Mountain Dew Supernova, Mountain Dew Voltage, and Mountain Dew Revolution. Let's take a look at Mountain Dew Supernova!

This flavor is described on the packaging as "Dew with a blast of Strawberry Melon Flavor and Ginseng". Alrighty, then! The beverage color itself is of the pinkish/purplish variety, but not as dark as something like 2004's Mountain Dew Pitch Black.

It's specifically noted that this flavor is "Dew Drinker Designed", which is a reference to the DEWmocracy campaign.To summarize for those who are to lazy to click a link, in Fall 2007 PepsiCo rolled out a "design your own Dew" initiative, but did it through online gaming and a social media-oriented storyline. The result was out of all these combinations, 3 flavors rose to the top, to be featured during the summer of 2008 and...

I tried all three of the new Mountain Dew flavors in the same day, Mountain Dew Supernova was by far my favorite. My boyfriend had brought me home all three of them to try and after I tried Supernova, I would not give it up! I love the taste by itsself and its even good to make a mixed drink with vodka! I hope they keep it!!!

I love this stuff! The flavor is subtle and the drink isn't overly carbonated. Watch how much you drink though -- very high in calories, and VERY easy to drink a full 20oz bottle!...

In summer of 2003, I got addicted to Mountain Dew LiveWire, an orange flavored version of Mountain Dew that had a little extra kick. That was a special release though, and after the summer of 2003, it was not available anywhere. They have since (finally) worked it into production but you can't find it all the time.

Now this summer Mountain Dew is testing 3 new flavors. One of them is the Supernova flavor. My husband brought me home one of these today because he knows I love Mountain Dew and I love Strawberry flavor. So of course, I LOVED Mountain Dew Supernova! Now I'm just worried the flavor won't get enough votes and will be taken away. Although they usually bring back the flavors eventually, I miss them during the time they are gone.

Mountain Dew Supernova starts like regular Mountain Dew, but then has a "blast of Strawberry Melon Flavor and Ginseng". This flavor tastes great! It basically taste like when I mix Mountain Dew slurpee with a Strawberry slurpee and I love...
