Moulin Rouge is one of the most spectacular movies I have ever seen! It is definately one of the most treasured in my DVD collection! The costuming is just so elaborate, and colorful! Numerous costume changes are modeled throughout the movie by the various characters. The various costumes are quite stunning in detail as well, which plays an impressive part in the movie. The numerous musical numbers and energetic choreography are both entertaining and captivating! The music is so catchy- with its collection of both classic broadway/movie style as well as more modern songs meshed together to weave a beautiful story! It is unlike anything I have ever heard before! It gives a unique flavor to the story, and will have you singing and dancing along! (High energy music on the soundtrack's 2 CDs are a wonderful motivator to get you cleaning or working out! Some of the songs/montages on the soundtrack were originals from Elton John, David Bowie, Madonna, Marilyn Monroe, Julie Andrews, etc.. ) Actually,...

Not only does this movie serve any movie-goer justice. Though a musical, it is one that guys and girls can love. A chilling love story with a humorous twist, and musical influences from all decades.

An all-star cast with Ewen McGregor, Nicole Kidman, and John Leguizamo. A beautiful display of musical melodies and a romantic story that would bring tears to anyones eyes. The songs are totally catchy and make you want to learn adn sing along.

This movie will not only blow your mind, but it will also make you want to buy it immediately and can be one of those movies that one is capable of watching more than once in their lives. There are irresistable lines and statements made that will be stuck in your head forever.

A romeo and juliet comedy that seems justified for this day and age. A sing-a-long tragedy with a tragic ending that will make you want to fall in love.

Completely recommended for anyone.

The main song in this movie Come What May sums up the movie perfectly. Come what may, I will love you until the end of time. The plot was basic, naive dreamer and writer Christian (Megregor), falls for hardened cabert actress and courtesean Satine (Kidman). Thrown into the mix is a wealthy Duke, determined to have Satine as his own. With the fate of a play written by Christian and funded by the Duke on the line Satine and Christian must hide their affair from the rest of the world They're love is tested and pushed to the brink and at the last moment, well, I wouldn't want to spoil the ending. It is a bit silly in places and at others seems a bit unorganized, but when put together it makes for one of the most touching and emotionally pulling movies i've seen to date. The music is perfect, they took famous songs and put their own spin on them and when added to the tone and richness of Megregor and Kidmans voices it still gives me goosebumps. This is a must see for the romantic...

although i was skeptical to watch moulin rouge, when my mother and sister brought it home to watch i watched it with them. i was shocked and in awe of this movie and quickly bought the soundtrack to go with it. definately one of my favorite musicals. ewan mcgregor melted my heart with his rendition of "This is Your Song"

Moulin Rouge is one of my favourites. Very "tongue in cheek" and laughed at itself the whole way through. Loved it. This isn't a serious movie so don't expect historical relevance or period accuracy. It's purely a fantasy escapist piece and it does the job extremely well. Far better than I expected the first time I saw it....

This is my all time favorite movie. Moulin Rouge is a fabulous musical and Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor have phenominal voices...as does the rest of the cast!!! Definitely my favorite soundtracks to listen to in the car with the volume way up and me singing just as loud!!!...

RE: Moulin Rouge: I was skeptical at when this movie first began, but once I watched some more I was hooked! I just bought the soundtrack to the movie on Saturday, 8-30-08...have listened to it 4 times already!

I'll start off by saying that Moulin Rouge is my all-time favorite movie. I didn't much care for musicals prior to it, but now I love them (and now love other musicals including Phantom of the Opera and Sweeney Todd). I first saw it when I was eleven or twelve, and at that time, I didn't really "get it." When I saw it again at seventeen, I fell in love with it.

(Spoilers in this paragraph!)

The story opens at the turn of the century, where protagonist Christian has made his way to France with no money and barely any possessions, hoping to write about truth, beauty, freedom, and love, though he has never known love himself. He conveniently meets up with some bohemians who are writing a play for the Moulin Rouge, and noting his poetic ability and beautiful singing voice, ask for his assistance. To get the approval of owner Harold Zidler, they decide to first seek approval of the starlet, the "Sparkling Diamond," Satine. Satine mistakenly identifies Christian as the Duke, who is funding...

Just saw this movie don't buy it its not worth watching, it's a farce of a movie musical totally lacking in content.They tried to catch you with music ..failed, they didn't stay true to the period or the true story line.I was greatly dissapointed in this movie.And all I can say is shame on the actors , writers , and producers for putting such a peice of doodie on film....

learn to be love and be loved in return. the whole movie is about two people falling in love. the guy is in love with a dancer from a bar . he met her because her friends took him to the bar and hooked him up with him. the owner told her to spend the night with the guy that had a napkin in his pocket. she saw him but it was actually the other guy named the Duke. he falled in love with her and expressed themselfs by singing. its the best musical ive ever seen. the owner doesnt want her to go with him because he wants her to go with the duke who has a lot of money. they do acts and kiss by hidding. at the end she is doing a huge show and they try to kill him because he sneeks in.at the end he starts kissing her and she dies . he was so sad and coulnt forget about her. this took place in france. she died because she was a singer and every time she caughed she would spit blood.

I was very skeptical about this film but being such a romantic i could not help to immerse myself into the story. the blossoming relationship and love as well as the pop culture music mixed into this historical backdrop makes for great entertainment....
