The right spine holds a volume rocker and a Direct Connect button, while a covered headset jack and a covered MicorSD slot are placed on the left spine for easy accessibility. On the top of the phone are the speakerphone key and a button for sending calls to voicemail and accessing the recent-calls list when the phone is closed. All keys are coated in durable rubber. Finally, the charger ports rests on the bottom of the i880.

The internal display is a treat and is comparable to the excellent display on the Motorola i580. At 2.35 inches (176x220 pixels) and with support for 262,000 colors, it's easy on the eyes and does a good job displaying everything from text to graphics. You can change the text size and the backlighting time, and though the brightness setting isn't adjustable, it didn't seem to matter. Also, we like that the i880 supports Nextel's newest menu design.

Nextel handsets tend to have crowded navigation buttons and while the i880 is no exception, it does a better job than...
...

I had an i880 for a couple of years and the screen was damaged so I got a new phone. It was suppose to be a better model but I was so unhappy with it that I sent it back to the company and got the i880 again. I love this phone....

I would recomend a Motorola i880 to anyone looking for a phone that will work in the Nextel network! The i880 has an mp3 player, 2.0 megapixel camera, flash, speakerphone, and an outside display screen that is bigger than the ones on most phones.

The camera can also switch to video mode so you can record videos with it as well. You can turn the flash on or leave it off, whichever you choose. You can zoom in to take a closer picture or video. Although, when zooming in, it does tend to distort the picture a little bit. You can also choose what size you actually want the pictures to be without messing with the "zoom".

The mp3 player can be accessed without even opening the phone. The outside controls allows you to do this.

The outside display screen shows you the name and/or number that a person is calling from. You can personalize your outside display as well as your inside display with any picture you want. These pictures can also include pictures that you have taken with...
...

jhcjv says "Motorola i880--Great phone except for...screen inversion problem" about Motorola - i880 Cell Phone

I have had the i880 for over a year now. It's been a beautiful phone, durable, good camera and excellent sound, nice looking. Just recently, I started experiencing the problem of the screen inverting when I would open the phone. I called Sprint to ask them what to do and was directed to a service center for repair. Took the phone in today--(I don't have a service plan since I have never lost or broken any of my phones), and was told that the repair would cost me $55.00 that I needed a new flip. Stuck, I paid them to fix it. After doing some research on the web about other owners with the same problem, I discovered that this is actually a manufacturers defect that Motorola has been keeping quiet about. No notification that the phone needed the LCD ribbon and flip replacement, or instructions as to how to get it fixed. The idea that you have to mail off a phone to Motorola for an undetermined period of time and wait while they fix something that took the local service center all of......

This phone Motorola i880 was great, until the inside screen decided to flip upside down. I called Motorola and they said it is a defect of the phone. Their solution was to have me send in the phone to them, for an unspecified amount of time, and do without a phone, or to take it in to a authorized dealer to have them fix it at my cost. This I felt was not an acceptable solution. The sound was great. ...

I have to give it 3 stars for 2 reasons. 1) it was the best phone i'v ever used. I absolutely loved the design and the capabilities, 2) over a 40 day period i went through 3 i880's and am on the fourth phone which is now an i850. I hate the new phone but the display went out on the 3 i880s that I had. In the middle of reading news or texts the screen would go black as if it turned off, but the keypad still had light on. at this point the power button was the only thing that would work. I really want one of these phones but at this point i'm scared to get another one. I realize that there are always going to be some factory mishaps but it is very frustrating when you get 3 in a row....

My Motorola I880 is a wonderful phone to have. This phone has a lot of cool new features that include mp3, video and pictures. Cellular services are very important to me for contacts at work as well as my personal contacts. After trying many other cellular companies I decided to stick with Nextel because they have the best service. I've never had a problem with them. They are always fast and courteous. There was a lag when sprint took over, but it was a little one and I think everything is squared away. There is one other really important thing. . . .when all the cell phones don't work, the nextel walkie talkie does. This is why there was such a boom for these phones after 9/11 for all emergency response teams. Nextel really does keep you connected!...

Although the phone has a MP3 player and is decently easy to use, the biggest con is that it is a sprint/nextel phone. the buttons stick and the phone is over 300.00 which is a bit much for a phone that sticks. it is a cool color and love the features....

Pretty good little phone with all the gadgets I need. Calendar, music player, voice mail lots of fun games including demos. Camera with spotlight. Easy to operate. It's even stylish when it comes to phones, without spending lots and lots of money. I have had the rugged phoned which broke and the simplest of phones with no camera or fun items. And this one now stays with me 24/7. Even my teenage son things it is a cool phone. Finally!!!...
