Mitsubishi - 57 Inch HD Television: Most tvs are the same, the difference in quality matters more in the peripherals (cables, dvd players, ect.). Take advantage of a great deal, and don't get caught up in so called "name brands." As long as the television is at least 45 inches, you should be fine.
...

Why I Chose the Mitsubishi WD-57733

I researched DLPs, LCDs, Plasmas for a year while anticipating moving into a new home. Read everything and demo'd it in stores

Professional review after review made it clear this set was competitive with plasmas $1000+ more (e.g. Pioneer Elites, top of line Panasonics).

PROs

Stunning HD picture quality (I am a dishnetwork satellite customer)

Very good ~ much better than average standard definition picture quality

Easy to use remote and menus

CONs

None. Absolutely none.

NOTES

Needs DIY calibration to 'blow you away' - I used Video Essentials DVD. This is not a "Con" as all HDTVs need this to look good

At about 15-18" deep it can not be hung on a wall. However, it is quite light and can be lifted very easily by 2 people

...

Great tv! I love it. The tv has a great screen. I have owned the tv for awhile now and have had not problems. Well except for fighting for tv time between the wife and two kids! I like the back of the tv the most. It has hook ups for everything! The only down side i have seen is that the sharing between four people is kinda hard to do, so now we have tv time and reading time!...

I bought this TV in May of 2007. I wanted to wait and get a large screen LCD, but my wife persuaded me to go ahead and get a projection. I was unsure, but researched the availble units and rating and decide on the Mitsubishi. This has been a great TV. The screen is normally easy to keep clean, but with small grandsons, it can sometimes be difficult to remove their marks. The only other problem I had, was where to put my cable box, pictures, and DVD. I solved this by building a shelf to set overtop the unit....

After owning the TV for 8 months, the lamp burnt out. It was covered under warranty but took over a month to get new lamp. The price to buy a replacement lamp is $250-$350. If I had known the lamps burn out so often and are so expensive, I would have chose a differant TV....
