I've been running WHS since when it first came out.

I have a modest network comprised of my WHS, my desktop PC and a netbook. The features I love most about WHS is the nightly backup, the ease of storage expansion and the ability to serve media throughout the house.

If for no other reason, the automatic nightly backup is enough of a sales point for me to recommend WHS to anyone. You might need someone technically inclined to get it setup, but once it's running, you'll rarely need to mess with it.
...

Geekgal says "An easy and excellent way to share files." about Microsoft Windows Home Server

I both use and tech support Servers, Macs, Windows (XP and Vista) as well as hardware and although I have a certificate in Network Administration and work on Windows Servers daily, I really love WHS. It is easy to install and easy to setup and has just the right features for a home user. I have run Windows Small Business Server, Linux, Mac OSX Server and now WHS and out of all of those WHS Is by far the easiest to setup and manage with the best of features for the home user. It's a great tool for file sharing and backing up your PC's as well as hosting Web sites and remoting into your home desktop. It has all the features that any home user could possibly want/need at a fraction of the cost and with minimal setup.

The only drawback is that you really need a pretty 'beefy' computer to run it on. I have an AMD Machine with 3 GB of Ram and 5 - 250gig HDD's. That's a terabyte of storage!! I have a ton of music, movies, web graphics, photos plus all my documents and I have...
...

Windows Home Server is intended to be a solution for homes with multiple connected PCs to offer file sharing, automated backups, and remote access. Since it is based on Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2, it includes enterprise-level stability, ruggedness, and security.

Features
- Centralized Backup - Allows backup up to 10 PCs, using Single Instance Store technology to avoid multiple copies of the same file, even if that file exists on multiple PCs.
- Health Monitoring - Can centrally track the health of all PCs on the network, including antivirus and firewall status.
- File Sharing - Offers network shares for computers to store the files remotely, acting as a network-attached storage device. Separate categories are provided for common file types like Documents, Music, Pictures and Videos. The files are indexed for fast searching.
- Printer Sharing - Allows a centralized print server to handle print jobs for all users.
- Shadow Copy - Takes advantage of Volume Shadow Copy Services to take...
...
