Microsoft Windows Vista is actually probably my favorite operating system by Windows. In my opinion, it works A LOT better than XP.

I have NEVER gotten a blue screen, or serious problems with Vista. I like Vista more than XP, simply because it looks better, and seems to work better.

A problem I have had with Vista, is that it Freezes often. It's either Email, Internet, Or Control Panel, and the window freezes all of a sudden. Luckily, this doesnt happen a lot, so it isnt a big problem to me.
...

kcitrus says "BIG Time Headaches" about Microsoft Windows Vista

I am not a windows vista fan.I loved windows xp,even though it had its problems too. Vista loads too slow, strike one.Vista has that user account control that will not let you do anything till you allow it to,strike two.At least you can turn it off.Vista's start menu is the pits.It is too cobbled up in one single row. This is foolish when you have a whole screen, strike three.Windows xp start menu was nice.Vista is already out and all the negetive points cannot even be listed.

Vista logon screen is stupid. You have a whole big screen and they put the logo in the middle like a tiny speck of something. It is absolutely nutty.

Vista's icons are so boring.I make my own or download new ones.

Everything is so slow. You cannot do much at one time. This operating system is the worst I ever used.I had 98 ,windows me,and xp.They were better than vista.I thought vista was supposed to be the bomb.Yeh right. Was I ever fooled.
...

Yeah, yeah, yeah...the problems of the new. Thats the problem, not the Vista program period!! Anything new, when speaking about technology is going to have bugs. Don't misunderstand me I don't condone faulty programs or programming. But, I do know that in the computer industry, it often takes time, and trial and error to perfect most operating systems.I like Vista. I actually had more problems with Windows 98 and XP, I think my main concern is why do new operating systems surface when the previous OS is not yet fully mastered. I especially enjoy the graphics and effects when you work with Vista..speaking of working with..some of these critic need to work with developers of such operating systems. This instead of the thrashing, I too have had problems. But when I reportr them shortly after there is an update addressing th eproblem. I know, this is not always the case. But for now we can grin andbere it. In most cases it was free anyway! So I say thanks for the OS and allow me to master...
...

I miss Microsoft Word. it was the best program ever. what i really miss is wordart. i like to do a lot of fun projects (art major in college) and I do use wordart alot. it really upsets me that it's not on there. i've tried running my old disc on it and nothing. I just microsoft would realize that they have inferior products. my dad has a mac but at least he has word art and i'll use his, but of course he doesn't have paint, so i feel like i'm in a lose/lose situation. And my next complaint, honestly, i'm not sure if it's the program or the ocmputer itself (had for about 6 months), I feel like it's has a mind of it's own. i'll be doing stuff and the mouse wants to shoot all the way across the page or my cursor is far away from where i'm working. after this i will probably never by a pc again. i'm definately going to start saving so that i can get a mac. i'd say hopefully they can come up with a better product, but they just seem to keep getting worse and worse.
...

I purchased a Dell laptop with Windows Vista about two years ago. At the time, I had heard some negative things about Vista, but the sales person talked me into getting Vista rather than XP. He claimed that the bugs had been fixed and that Vista was very user friendly. He was wrong.

My laptop was ok for about six months, until one of the automatic updates caused it to go into an endless restart loop. It took me days to get it fixed, but I finally managed to do so and turned off the updates. However, my computer has never really worked properly since this happened. At this point, I cannot download updates at all. My computer does not let me download most forms of software, such as Quicktime or Adobe PDF viewer. Any time I attempt to make system changes, such as uninstalling programs, I get the "green ribbon of death" and the entire system crashes. The system frequently lags and crashes, even when I am using only one or two programs. It causes me problems nearly every day.

I have owned several...
...

If you're in the market for a computer, try to wait until Oct 10 when Windows 7 comes out (or get a Mac). Windows Vista is horrible. Processing slows down measurably. At work we decided to upgrade two of our computers, and Vista has wreaked havoc since. Our $30k program does not work well with Vista, alternately creating errors and not functioning at all. Also, we had to also upgrade our network printer/fax because it wasn't compatible with Vista. Well, the new unit (a $5k additional expense) is supposedly compatible but is also having trouble with Vista.
...

I am so angry with my computer right now that I just dont think I can possibly be objective.... but I will try. Vista has been challenging for me since day.

Vista, first and foremost, is a pretty big deviation from past microsoft products. It required me to re-train myself on where to find nearly EVERYTHING!

Vista was also incredibly buggy. My computer started crashing more than ever before. So incredibly frustrating and annoying for a computer addict.

I also hated that no partners, colleagues or friends had vista, so opening files became a total nightmare on their part.

Overall, I really dislike vista.................. and would get rid of it if I could.
...

I won a laptop from my school and since it was brand new it had windows vista. The program is ok. I don't have any complaints. Some of my older games aren't for vista though so I don't know how they will work. I also can't download some programs. If you buy a new computer I know some places give you the option to downgrade for Xp. You should probably try vista for awhile though.I personally don't see any difference between the operating systems except for the sound when you turn the computer on.

Paradoxically, Windows Vista is both revolutionary and evolutionary. While it includes modern OS features, such as a new hardware-based graphical user interface (GUI), Vista will also feel like familiar territory, for the most part, to anyone that's already familiar with Windows XP. And Mac advocates can claim, truthfully, that many of Vista's best features appeared first on Mac OS X, sometimes years ago.

More problematic, over the past five years, many of Windows Vista's best features have been...
...

Microsoft's newest operating system (aside from the Windows7 beta released recently) Vista, has gotten the worst rap of an operating system. Well, that's if you don't count the notorious XP when it first came out, especially the SP2 release. And now everybody wants to go back to XP and no one will touch Vista.

There are several arguments against Vista. The one I hear the most is how much of a system drain it is. While this is arguably true, it may not be as bad as you think. If you disable all of the graphics effects it runs well on only 512 mb's of ram. And for those who have upwards of 2 gig's of ram and see all of it being used for the Operating System, there's a reason for that. Vista purposely uses all your ram so that loading new programs into it is faster. For example, if you have 2 gig's of ram, and you are running XP, with nothing else running it will probably only use 256 to 512 mb's of your ram. But when you're running just Vista alone you will see that almost all your...
...

When I got my new computer, the only option was to get Windows Vista already installed. I was hesitant, but had my Windows XP disc handy just in case I needed to switch. When I loaded it up, I was pleasantly surprised - the intergrated SidePanel allows me to keep my favorite games and tools on my desktop at all times.
The only complaint that I have is that it is a resource hog - my computer runs slightly slower than I would expect it to as a new computer but I would say that its worth it! :)
...

Windows vista i think is an overall good program despite the average review. for me its pretty fast and reliable, it has good protection shields and good software already added to the program. Its also fast scanning thru web pagesit has microsoft word 2007 thats great for colledge, windows movie maker, automatic update scans and install, it has windows side bar, and many many other programs that until now have not been offered before. its easier to use than some people think people get so used to the windows they have had in the past that there not ready for change or maybe even stuborn to new technology but just like with all the others, like when windows 98 was replaced withwith windows me or when windows me was replaced with windows 2000 people did not want to except change. When they got used to it there was no more or i should say very many complaints. when windowsxp came out people were frustrated untill they got used to it and they loved it, i believe the same for windowsvista once......

Windows Vista is pretty starting out but in using E-mail and reading and viewing web pages it is the worst I have ever seen. The letters are so small you cannot read them. Every time you click a link the page shrinks up to one third of it's size. I would not recommend this to anyone....
