With all the other products out there this one is a workable version of "something" until something better comes along. All software is going to become obsolete however this software will last a long time for a person. I am not one to jump at the first signs of something new from microsoft.

This software will have support for at least five more years before a new generation. It as a program covers a wide variety of functions needed for basic publishing and internet.

I like it because I am familiar with other Windows programs so stepping into this software as a new user was no problem. I also like the extras you can activate from online downloads. Making flyers from Publisher is nice because the templates offered are different for my various needs and there are more than a few of them to choose from. I even make business cards from publisher.

The price is a bit much but you do get alot for the money. It works well for me and my small business.
...

I live in Outlook 2007. With this software and our Exchange Server I can share calendars with all my on-site technicians - stay up to date on where they are and what they are doing in the fireld as they update their calendars on their pda's. Scheduling adn simpler and e-mail is even more functional. Search functions have been improved to.

Microsoft Outlook 2007 lets you drag between calendar days and color-code tasks/e-mails on its calendar. The color coding allows for easier to loacte visual items. Outlook 2007 integrates with other Office software wonderfully - this is something Microsoft really got right this time! Add in straightforward e-mail security warnings, display previews of Office files, new contact cards, and many more small features and you will quickly see how this version of outlook will make you more productive! Microsoft has kept most commands in place from Outlook 2003 for an ease of transition to this new version as well..

My office recently upgraded to the new Microsoft Office 2007 Professional. I find it extremely hard to use. There are so many differences between the new version and the old. Very difficult to navigate. I hope when Microsoft comes out with a new version, it will incorporate more of the prior versions.
...

I just took a class regarding this software and while there are a lot of new things added to the 2007 version, they seem to be too frilly to actually use professionally. Plus, there is just too much to it. It is SIMPLE enough to use, but once you find how to do something, it's hard to find it again....

Microsoft Office 2007 is definitely NOT for the faint of heart! For those of us who have virtually grown up with the Office Suite since its and our own inception, this version is not just an upgrade, in fact, the products feel like a totally new package!

NONE of the standard menus are available anymore, I find that it freuquently crashes and then restarts (memory issues, probably), and then what's REALLY annoying, is the obligatory browser that suddenly appears after every crash containing several free form text boxes wanting me to inform MicroSoft of what went wrong!

On the bright side, once you DO learn the product, (good luck!), you won't really miss the earlier versions since Microsoft has some built-in features that seem to "read your mind" and speed up your productivity.
...

I love the myriad of programs Microsoft gives you in this bundle. Word, Powerpoint, and Excel are updated a ton, including a sophisticated new color palette and many Font and Color Themes. Very easy to use, although it does take some time to learn where everything is with the new toolbar systems. I would reccomend taking a class or getting a book on using the programs....

A few months ago we saw a preview of Office 2007 during a Tech conference at work and I volunteered to pilot it before they released it company wide. I absolutely love it! The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is because of the three reasons I listed below. I believe everyone knows what Excel, Word, and Powerpoint are, so I'm just going to list some of my favorite new features instead of tell you all about it.

On the Downside:

I know some people who aren't very computer savvy are going to have a hard time adjusting

There is a slower load time with all the programs now. Sometimes it's real quick, sometimes it's real slow

Not everything translates to 2003, even if you save it as a 2003 file. I had a pretty colored excel sheet, sent it to my boss and she only saw the text, no borders and no colors. I found that I have to seek out which colors are compatiable with Office 2003 and only use those. I'm just hoping the world moves to 2007 so that all these new features will be even...

...

Microsoft has rewritten the Office interface. The "ribbon" has replaced the standard toolbar. Items are grouped better, but as others say, it is a learning curve. Overall, a new user could learn pretty quickly, while previous version users will have to hunt a little for the usual commands. While the program is not a slim version, a standard computer today with 1 gig of ram should have no problems running it. The biggest cons are the file format is new. If you save a file, previous versions can not open it. You have to manually save as a 2003 or older file type. The second con is the price. For advanced users and Outlook users, this is a must. For everyday users, get something like openoffice....

Office 2007 is a great leap forward for Microsoft. Many of the features are now hard to find, but they are actually in grouped better overall. 2007 is very different than 2003, but has many new features, especially in outlook. The auto-email feature is an admin's dream for new users. the .___x extension and the non-natively forward compatibility is a pain, but will subside as time goes on. I would recommend this to all....

Get ready for quite the change here!

If you are a current MS Office user, you will find the latest version a great surprise.
As always, fist of all, you will find that this new version requires a better machine to do exactly the same as the older ones. Even though, you are probably using Vista too, so you are probably aware of this, or can run it without much problems (If not, take in consideration upgrading your RAM to at least 2GB before installing this!).

Office 2007 offers a completely new view. Forget everything you knew about office, this is a new experience.
No more menus, no more button bars. Everything now is there for you to see and use.
Every tool is now represented by icons, grouped on different tabs, quite intuitive for the new user.
Although as this may sound good, the experienced user will find himself wondering 'where did everything go!'?

New users will find this version easier and good looking, but we, experienced users, will have a hard time re-learning everything from scratch,......
