I have used the medela breast pump for a year, and it has come in very handy. I take it to work and it looks like any other bag, so I don't get too many funny looks. It is very practical and I love the battery pack that came with it so I have also been able to pump in the car and when I went camping with my family. The instructions were very easy to follow for cleaning and maintainence. If I had to buy another one, which I won't because mine is still going strong, I would buy a medela. They make exceptional products and quality counts to me. I also like the catalog that came with it to reorder tubes, filters, bottles... I have changed my filters a couple of times and ordering was very simmple. Breastfeeding was very difficult for me and it was the most difficult part of having a baby for me. Needless to say I used the pump routinely for my first few months postpardum, and I don't know if I would have been able to breastfeed successfully without my pump. It was well worth...
...

I prefer to breastfeed my babies, so when I found out I was pregnant with Jack, I knew I would need to purchase a pump. I borrowed one when I had Lauren and had since returned it. Fortunately, my husband had a great benefit at work to receive a Medela breast pump for a copay of $125. I immediately ordered!

What comes in the Backpack:
*Pump In Style Advanced Breastpump with 2 Phase Expression pumping in a stylish black microfiber bag: The bag has a handle at the top (between the shoulder straps) for easy one handed carrying as well as the backpack straps that are comfortable and wide. Each zipper has two metal pulls which clank together fairly loudly when you walk. If they are not together, the bag is unzipped, so no way around the clanking. There is a side pocket for a water bottle (I keep the car adapter in this pocket). There is a zippered wallet on the opposite side of the side pocket. I have used the mesh pocket inside the wallet area, but that is about it. I would not use this for...
...

When I first returned to work, I was concerned about being able to continue to breastfeed my baby. I began the search for a breast pump that would be efficient, comfortable, and effective. The first that I bought did not stimulate let-down, making it very difficult and frustrating to pump. After consideration, however, I decided to invest the money in the Medela Pump in Style Backpack. It has been one of the best decisions I've made!

This pump is light and discreet, making it nice to carry around. It's also very effective, and has many different settings for the most comfortable, efficient pumping session. I've found it to be very easy to use, and has minimal parts compared to other pumps.

The pump is very expensive. When compared to the price of formula, however, had I had to stop breastfeeding, it was well worth the investment, and has since paid for itself. Since it's so comfortable and easy to use, it's also made me consider donating breastmilk when my little one is...
...

I LOVED the Medela Pump in Style Backpack. It was discrete, lightweight, and very mobile. I thought it was very easy to use. It worked great the entire 1.5 years that I was breastfeeding my son. I did have a problem with the pump, and after working through some possible issues with me over the phone, they sent me a new pump. Medela is a great company, and I am not surprised that my hospital recommended them.
...

The Medela Black Backpack Breast Pump was purchased in the hospital I delivered at, I learned how to use it and it works wonderfully. The only problem with it would be that it is hard to hold both pump accessories up to your boobs at the same time. The Medela Black Backpack Breast Pump comes with two ways to run it, by plugging it in the wall or by using battery mode. The Black Backpack Breast Pump comes in handy cause you can carry it around with you with out worry. Since you can carry it around on your back, you can easily carry your baby in front, using a sling or front holder. Then carry the diaper bag on one shoulder, and hold your other kids' hand with your free hand. Over all, I would recommend the Medela Black Backpack Beast Pump to any first time mom or moms who decide to breast pump. It has plenty of room to hold the many accessories that you will need in order to breast pump. I give it a rating of 8 out of 10.
...

First of all I am the new mom of a beautiful baby girl, while I was still pregnant my husband and I took a birth and parenting class and of course they talked about the benefits of breast milk, and breastfeeding in general. I knew I wanted to give it a try but I also didn't want to stress out about it either if it turned out not working for us, well unfortunately it turned out not working for us, my baby ended up having Jaundice and was loosing too much weight after a few days on just colostrum (my milk had not come in yet) and our doctor recommended supplementing with bottles and formula until my milk did come in. Well of course she liked the bottle much better because of the instant gratifcation that came with it, and I was just happy that she gained her weight back and was healthy. So now I had a decison to make, stick with formula, or pump the breast milk that had now come in, I decided to pump. We decided on the Medela pump in style because so many people had recommened the brand to...
...

Eoywin says "Medela Pump In Style Advanced is a great pump for nursing moms!" about Medela Pump In Style Advanced Backpack

I got my Medela Pump In Style Advanced because I planned on going back to work after my baby was 8 weeks old.

Even though I ended up getting laid off from my job, I still use my pump all the time. It is very easy to use, it isn't very noisy, and it came in a cute bag that is easy to carry around.

The suction of the pump is really good and I can get a lot of milk out using it. I don't often use the double pump because I'm at home when I pump, but the double pump would be great for working moms who don't have a lot of time to pump.

One of the best features is that any Medela bottles work with the pump. I got extra bottles and they work just fine with the pump. I believe they also make freezer bags that you can pump right into, but I've never tried those.

I've been using my pump for about 8 months and it still works great. I would recommend this product to any nursing mom who is going to need to pump!
...

This product lasted through two children, breastfed for over a year. I am a working mom and the value of this product is immeasurable. The pump itself had several settings and I enjoyed the initial fast pump to slow pump transition. It was not painful at all and almost similar to my children breastfeeding from the breast. The parts were easy to clean and the handy bag was a fabulous idea. Hiding the equipment from my colleagues was invaluable.
...

I really love the Medela pump-in-style advanced breast pump in a backpack. I have used it through three babies while working part-time, usually pumping once every four hours. I have never used it with the battery pack, but plugged in it works really well, and is plenty powerful. It usually takes me ten to fifteen minutes to pump myself empty. It doesn't work as well as a hospital-grade pump, of course, but it works great for pumping at work or on the go. I have one friend that used it as the sole means of feeding her baby because he wouldn't nurse and she used to use it in the car, while her husband was driving. Another great thing has been that the pump parts that they give you at the hospital to use with their pumps fit on it. You can buy attachments to keep it hands-free, but I usually manage to work it hands-free without that stuff. The only problem I've had with it is the power cord has worn and split a little at the connector to the plug. It also feels a little immodest at times...
...

This breastpump is definately a must have for any breastfeeding mom. I love this because even when I was not able to be with my baby, the pump worked just as well. It allowedme to go out with my husband, have a babysitter, and to go back to work without worrying about my supply going down. It is a double electric one so I was able to pump both sides at the same time and in less time. I pumped 10 minutes and got about as much as if I were nursing. It is a great product. It comes in a backpack style case so it is discreet and doesn't make a lot of noise. I would definately recommend this product to any mom who is breastfeeding.
...

I should start out by saying I like breastfeeding, but not pumping. That being said, this is the best one I've used. It is powerful, easy to clean, and more effective than others I have tried. It is also a good value for the price. I like that you can use batteries or current. I would recomend getting some rechargeable batteries if you will use them a lot. It is a bit bulky, although the new backpack model looks cool. Replacement parts are available and adaptor parts for alrge breasts. I don't think the adaptor parts are neccesary, but extra parts are very handy.
...

We bought the Pump In Style Advanced after #1 was born and I had to rent one. While I never made enough to feed either of my children, I used my pump daily for months so I could provide what little milk I made.

A great product that holds up. Accessories are available at Target which I love. Great customer service. When I did have an issue with a piece breaking, I called customer service and they admitted a flaw and replaced it free of charge for me.
...

My first child was born three years ago, and had a very hard time adjusting to breastfeeding. So when I knew my second was ready to be born, I made sure to be ready with a breast pump. The Pump in Style that I had used three years ago had seen better days, so I bought the new Pump In Style Advanced for the new baby. As expected, she had a few problems at birth and was severely jaundiced. We found ourselves in the pediatric unit for her bilirubin treatments, and I brought along the pump. The backpack made it so easy when trying to handle the baby and the pump (not to mention my own bag for the overnight stays). But the most amazing thing is just how incredibly efficient the pump is! When I found myself pumping for my first child, 15 minutes of pumping might bring about an ounce of milk. Somehow the newer model, with its letdown function, produced that much in just five minutes. I was really amazed. Well worth the money to save you all that time in pumping!
...

I have been using the Medela Pump In Style Backpack Breast Pump for 4 months now and I love it. It is easy to transport, lightweight and very durable. It has held up wonderfully considering I pump about four to six times a day. I've tried other pumps and this one feels like it may have a stronger suction and helps to empty out the breast more quickly. This ,in turn, helps to increase my milk supply each time I pump. It is easy to clean. All the parts detach easily and are easy to care for. Because I was using it so much (and because I bought it used) I decided to buy replacement hoses for it. I had no problems ordering new ones from the Medela website and they arrive next day and I was not charged any shipping! I would strongly suggest to any breast-feeding mothers that they seriously consider using the Medla Pump in Style breast pump. I think it is, by far, one of the best breast pumps on the market! THUMBS UP FROM ME!
...

The Medela Pump In Style is wonderful! It allows a nursing mother to pump both sides quickly...usually less than 10 minutes to fully empty the breasts. The motor has lasted through pumping for FOUR kids. I bought it in 2000 with the birth of my oldest when I had to return to work when he was 12 weeks old. I have since become a stay-at-home mom but it was great for engorgement, and to help me cure the mastitis I developed with my second child. I also used it to build up extra so I could get some "me" time occasionally, and my husband could give a bottle. My pump came in a neat black backpack that is not obvious as to what it was carrying. it was big enough (and came with) a small cooler to store expressed milk in as well as extra nursing pads, and the car adapter that I bought separately. Also included was four 8 oz bottles with caps, tubing, power cord, the units for expressing, and extra seals in case one flushes down the sink.
...
