I bought a Mazda 3 for my very first car 3 years ago. I aboslutely love it!! It is kind of small on the inside with little leg room in the back seat. Thankfully I'm not too tall or that might be an issue.

The stock stereo isn't bad at all, the steering wheel radio controls are awesome and have probably saved me some near-wrecks while fiddling with the radio controls. I really don't have any major complaints about this vehicle. You definitely get what you pay for with this car choice.

The AC does tend to take up a large portion of the power when you run it, but it's not so bad that you never use it. Another good thing about this car is the AUX input in the mdidle console. Even though it is kind of annoying to have to reach in the console every time I want to take it in and out of my car ( which I do more than a normal person would on average); but on the other hand it's nice that you can route that cable up through the top compartment in the console to keep your iPod or MP3...
...

This car is very reliable, has awesome gas mileage and is very trendy while being sporty. Definitely glad I made the decision to get this car. Maintence is not over the top - - just keep up with the oil changes and things. Very roomy inside as well which makes longer trips bearable....

I have a Mazda 3, 2007 model and have owned it for 2 years now. It's a great car for a short daily commute and I love it. It's the perfect size for me, not too shabby on gas, and comes at a decent price.

However, my one major complaint about the car is the engine power. This is a smaller car and if you are driving flat roads, you probably won't have any big complaints. But I have taking my car on several trips where I encountered hilly highways. This is where my little mazda disappointed me. Approaching the hill, I would be driving 5-10 miles over the speed limit, only to immediately drop a good 20-25 miles as soon as I hit the upward climb.

But all in all, it's a great commuter car with a nice look and feel.
...

When my car was stolen in 2007, I didn't have much time to find a replacement. Immersion in on-line research for well-reviewed, new cars under $20K pretty much narrowed it down to two options: a Hyundai Sonata and the Mazda 3.

(Yes I know I could have bought used and saved the depreciation, but I normally keep cars forever so I like starting at zero miles.)

A quick test drive made the decision a no-brainer. This car has zip and is a total hoot to drive. (And I admit, the ipod jack and satellite radio closed the deal since I have a 40-minute commute each way.) It comes loaded with options, making it even more affordable.

I've used two local Phoenix dealerships and been pleased with the service at both for my routine maintenance.

My husband is now in the market for a car and the Mazda 6 is a definite front-runner based on our experience with this car and my mid-80's Mazda 323.

...

The Mazda3 is an economical car. The gas mileage I usually get is about 23 city and 28 highway. This varies, but is not as good as advertized. Neverthelss, the car is trendy and cute without costing a ton to maintain or fill up. I have a 2.3, and the A/C is ok if the car is shaded, but if it is under the sun the A/C takes a while to cool down....

RSL says "Great little car - sporty, fast and safe at a great price" about Mazda3 - 2007

My husband and I bought this car for our daughter when she graduated from college. She needed safe, reliable, economical transportation to begin her professional life but like all 22 year-olds, she wanted sporty and fast. We were all happy when we found the Mazda3.

The car has a distinctive shape and comes in great colors. The four-door styling and comfortable back seat were a big step up from her 12 year old coupe style compact. We bought the package that included the side air bags and custom ordered the mirror with the built in compass. The car has great acceleration and handling and she loves driving it. Now that she's driving the interstate every day we know she's as safe as possible at a price she can afford to maintain on her own. My husband and I will definitely consider other Mazda models when we get ready to buy our next car.
...

I am not a car person, I prefer trucks, but I adore my Mazda3. I have the Mazda3i Sedan Touring edition 5 speed with the 2.0.

I hate to have to reach for the radio and other controls, but the mazda has been designed so you don't have to. The telescoping steering column allows you to comfortably sit back in your seat. I have the 5 speed and its so easy and fun to drive. I also love the steering wheel controls for the radio. I added a $50 walmart amp and 2 10" subs in the trunk and the stock system sounds awesome (mine is the 6 disc unit). I get between 34-36 mpg., and that is around town! The trunk is large and the lid uses shocks instead of hinges so you don't lose any trunk space when it's closed.

Mine has the 2.0 which could use a little more power with the A/C on, but the windows are designed so the wind doesn't beat you up when their down so I rarely use the A/C anyway. The headlights take some getting used to. The are the type that go up so far, then cut off. Most older cars have the...
...

love the zoom, zoom. its easy to get around town, not bad on the highway and takes the hills like a dream. the dealership folks are as boreing as all the rest with the usual jazz that one must endure before getting down to actually purchasing. one thing to avoid...as you are about to write a check they explain that the windows are etched with the VIN to deter thieves...and it will only cost you 600 dollars to keep the etching. well, tell them to remove the windows and replace them, take off the charge...or you will walk....

Just bought this car after having owned a Mercedes C230 and glad to switch to a more affordable vehicle.

This car is fun to drive and handles very well. Good gas mileage. One of the best features is a headphones jack in the center console which I connect my iPod to.

...

wolfdance says "Pretty good, solid, fun-to-drive little car!" about Mazda3 - 2007

The 2007 Mazda 3 (hatchback) is a pretty good little car - emphasis on little! However, it's very solid, handles great, and really does have zoom-zoom! It's fun to drive!

It gets very good gas mileage, which is why I leased it - 25 in the city in the summer, and I'm averaging about 23 in the city now that it's cold here in late November in Michigan. I don't do a lot of freeway driving but when I took it to the UP this summer, it got about 30 mpg!

It is a little on the small side, especially since I came from a 2004 Jeep Liberty. The back seat has very little knee room, of course, but the back cargo area is pretty good, and okay for my big dog, although she could use a little more head room too, which is limited by the sloping back window (another reason I loved the Jeep - vertical windows, more room inside!). The sloping windows also seem to make it much hotter inside in the summer, so when we went up North, I put my dog in the back seat, so she wouldn't roast in the sunny cargo area!...
...
