This is most reliable and inexpensive washer I have ever owned. it has been dependable since day one. i have had now for 3 years and never a break down. I wash at least 3-4 days per week, with a total average of about 8 loads per week. It keeps on movin'..........

I had always dear Maytag washers were the best. Well, I purchased one and it kept being off balance. Of course the repairman came 2 or 3 times then decided it needed new legs. To replace the legs, he would have had to take out the complete motor, ie, all the inside of the washer. Having just bought this and not wanting it taken apart for fear of other problems developing and after much arguing with Sears they replaced it with a newer model. The first wash load with the newest one, well the drain hose came off flooding my utility room, breakfast nook, bathroom and kitchen! Not happy! That got fixed and I have not had any more problems but I can't honestly say this Maytag washer is any better than the cheaper Whirlpool's I had before. The one disadvantage I see now is it does not always spin clothes very dry and that costs me more to dry them.

I have used my machine a lot without any problems for about 5 years. It began having rinse and spin cycle problems recently. I just paid a repairman $50 to come out and tell me the machine is not worth fixing. He said the motor and mechanisms of this machine are not powerful enough for the size basket Maytag built into this model. I had hoped to get more than 5 years out of a washer. I wouldn't recommend it!...

The Maytag Performa is an excellent, energy efficient washing machine. The Energy Guide Tag says it as an average annual operating cost of $57.00. The machine has very desirable load features. It has an extra small load setting and an oversize load setting in addition to the normal settings found on most washing machines. This has saved us a great deal of money. I am not wasting water to wash a very small load now. I can also wait and wash a larger load of towels which saves a tremendous amount of water and electricity of not running two seperate loads.

The washer has operated very well over the two years we have owned it. We have never had any problem with it at all.

The Maytag Performa has Heavy Load capability and a reset button. It has a 3 speed combo and 12 cycles. The load cycle settings include: Mini, Small, Medium, Large, and Oversize. It has a double rinse option which can be set to the OFF position and an overload protector. It also has an unbalanced...

This maytag machine was average at best while we owned it, but the kicker was when it started to squeel and stink and just stopped working in less than three years of owning it. Of course it cost almost a third of the machine to get it fixed and we chose to get a different brand. wish us luck....

I purchased my Matag Model A8557AWW washing machine two years ago and I have had a repair man out over six times during this period. The repair man replaced the transmission on the last appointment and I just called to schedule another repair because the drum is cutting into something and leaving strips of white plastic in my wash. It is also making a horrible noise when it spins out and it is not off balance. Fortunately I have the master protection plan on this product because I would have had to replace it at my own expense if I didn't. The manufacturer's warranty is useless. We are not looking into the Sears MPA Lemon Policy for replacement. Oh, and this is the third time I have had to rent a replacement prior to my repairs being done. Thanks to the protection plan, Sears will pay the cost. I would not recommend this Maytag washing machine to anyone and if you still think you may want to get one, make sure you purchase the protection plan from Sears to cover it or...

This machine does a good job but not a great job. Usually the clothes are clean but they do get knotted up, and stretched out. It usually doesn't come unbalanced but does make loud noises when it is over full. Usually the machines runs effeciently and quietly. It good on the water bill and doesn't take alot of electricity. For the price it is pretty cost effecient....

After having a great set of Maytags that worked beautifully for more than a decade, I bought the Performa set a few years ago. I can't wait to get rid of them. They still run, but they also shake, vibrate, sound like freight trains and tie my clothes into knotted ropes. We have adjusted the legs repeatedly but nothing helps. They have been a bad purchase from the start. Clothes with stains don't seem to get as clean as I'd like. The capacity leaves a bit to be desired if you need to do comforters, etc. It's impossible to wash anything that gets heavy (such as towels or bathrobes) without guarding it carefully so it doesn't literally walk across the floor. If you put anything with belts or straps in it (even a bra) the knots are even worse and the cords or belts will tie themselves around the rest of the load. You have to struggle to get the clothes out - pretty much every time you wash - because they're knotted around the stupid screw-shaped agitator. If you use the delicate cycle,...

     I have a large family, four children, my husband and I. I was told by the appliance salesman that this model had a large capacity load capability. I have found that the machine can only handle five or six towels at a time. It will also only handle 4 pairs of jeans and will not even hold anything above a full size blanket or comforter. If you try to put any more in the machine than the amount mentioned the machine goes off balance. The inside of the machine is deeper instead of wider so you have to bend over pretty far to get clothes out.
     I spend my money very wisely especially on clothes. I try to get bargains and clearance items. I have three very active teenage boys along with a husband that is a fireman. They all get pretty dirty and stinky, so it is very frustrating when the machine does not clean clothes very well. I pre-treat everything with a stain but it does not seem to matter.

This washing machine is great for the money. I found it a good buy and it washes clothes pretty good. My only thing was that it can get out of balance easy if you put to many clothes or if they aren't put in evenly. I would recommend this product to people even though it gets out of balance easy because still does wash pretty well. Like I said, for the price it is a good deal....

I love my Magtag--first time ever had one. The basin is extra large and has alot of different cycles to choose from. It also has many different many water levels. It has warm, cold and a mixer of both water temperatures. The cycles are from mini to extrs large. You can also choose a light wash which saves power. the delicate cycle stopped working; permanent press cycle is full of wrinkles. The delicate cycle is probably the most important cycle to me....so it's hard to "love" this washer. The other 2 cycles work fine, but the permanent press cycle leaves clothes all wrinkled.......
