Maytag Atlantis - 4 years old - I HAVE HATED this washer since the first load.A $600 washer lasted only 4 years and finally died. The repair man would not even come look at it because he said all Maytag Atlantis washer should be destroyed!

It's not useful to hear that folks have had their Maytags for 20 years and love them. I had one for 20 years and loved it, too. Then, five years ago, I bought a Maytag Atlantis. It died today. The new parts will cost nearly as much as a new washer, so it's effectively dead.

Maytags are no longer built to last. I wish I knew of a moderately-priced washer for sale today that was.

Five years is not an acceptable lifetime for a washing machine. No more Maytags for me.

Until July of 2006, I always lived in an apartment, and used a laundromat to get my clothes washed. It was during that time that I noticed that the most reliable washing machines were Maytags, and that more laudromats had Maytags than any other brand of washer. I resolved that, if I ever got my own house, I'd get my own Maytag.

It was just under three years ago that my husband and I made the dream of home ownership come true, and it was only ten days after moving in that we got around to buying a washer and dryer for ourselves. I began by browsing the Maytag website, knowing I wanted a top-loading washer with a large capacity, and one that was powered by electricity. I love this machine...it's inexpensive, does large loads and is quiet. This machine is gentle enough to do delicates and strong enough to do the dirtiest work clothes that could come your way. The matching dryer is even better quiet and only takes one short cycle to dry.

I've had my Magtag washing machine for more than over twenty years and can always rely on it. I have never had to have it serviced. If this one ever goes up I'll be sure to buy another Maytag! With a growing family it did a wonderful job with loads and loads of washing to do every week. Now it doesn't get as much use due to the kids being on their own but it still does the same great job I have always expected of it. So I would highly recommend a Maytag if you are in the market for a new washing machine.

i've just started using maytag's washing mashine a month back and i'm very happy with it. It washes clothes gently n thoroughly and uses much less detergent than other machines....

The Maytag Atlantis does all the basics well...almost> It has no lint finlter at all. My clothes are full of lint. I can't hang clothes out to dry to save energy because, unless I send them through the dryer for at least a little while, they are usually lint infested. Besdies making me run my clothes through the dryer and waste that energy, all that lint going into the sewer system has to be dealt with. Not a very "green" machine.

The next thing I hate about this washer is the little slots under the fins on the agitator! It catches sleeves with buttons, any draw string or tie, thin pants legs like wind pants, etc, and then proceeds to wrap the clothes up. At least once a week I must unwrap clothes that have become caught and wrapped through the rest of the clothes in the washer.

They should have someone who actually washes clothes try out their "great ideas" before putting them in washers and dryers!!...
