We purchased a maytag bottom freezer and dishwasher only 3 years ago within two weeks both died. Both are having to be trashed and we paid more for maytag because we hoped the quality would be better. Not so. Now the freezer and refridge will not cool. thankfully we have a freezer in the garage but from the beginning hd to have repair man come out ..the bottom freezer wont close right... the make it hard to clean coils (prob so it iwll go out in 3 yrs and they think your dumb enough to buy another maytag??) I had always heard they were crap now I can join the club. Maybe its because the maytag man represents the quality... who ever designed this machine inside and out was spending too much time sitting on their hiney and eating bon bons I guess.

I have owned about 15 refridgerators in my life (of many different brands), and this Maytag bottom freezer, 25 cubic foot one is the best I have ever owned. The movable glass shelving is particularly handy - the shelves can be arranged to handle even large wine bottles standing up. The icemaker is very efficient - keeps us in ice even during parties. My only complaint is that it feeds ice too fast sometimes, so that the last 2 cubes end up on the floor. Otherwise I would highly recommend this model to my friends.

after 3 years my matag Bottom Freezer - MBF2254H is sitting empty and unplugged!!! I have yet to call a repairman. After reading the reviews I would bet the repairs will be expensive. I am very much let down by the Maytag quality. Wished I would have read consumer reports beforehand. I had also purchased a dryer and washer...Maytag brand...dryer burned up three months ago. What brand? Maytag.

We purchased our Maytag bottom freezer refrigerator several years ago from Sears and had nothing but problems with it from the moment we had it delivered. The repair people replaced the compressor twice, replaced a fan once, and came out for one problem or another six times over the course of two years. Finally, Sears replaced it as they deemed it a Lemon. In the meantime however; I lost three refrigerators full of food. One time I had a supply of vaccinations in the refrigerator, so once they warmed up they could no longer be used safely. I lost hundreds of dollars in food and vaccines. The pros to the refrigerator were that it had a bottom freezer, which I just love, and it had the two french doors, which I find very nice. The interior capacity of the refrigerator is very roomy. Unfortunately, most appliance companies seem to market their products under several names, so even though I replaced my rotten Maytag with a Whirlpool, it may in fact be the same maker. Sears told me NO, but...

I have a large family and needed a reliable refrigerator, so in May of 2007 I remembered the loneliest man in town. I bought the Maytag MBF2254HEW with the icemaker at Menards in Sycamore, Il. Well the icemaker quit in August of 2008 and I did not say a word just shut unplugged it. Well in July 2009 I can not even keep a gallon of milk in my house with 8 people and 3 of them 3 or under.

So I called Maytag and they told me to call Knodles out of Sycamore, Illinois. I did and was told not to waste my money it would cost over $500.00 to replace the compressor, evaperator, and the heat exchange. If I spend the money it is just going to go out again. Well I can not afford another one now after being out of work for so long.

After spending over $1,000.00 and having the store come out and put it in with the icemaker, I even had them come out to change the door to open the other way. As they were to do that before it was delivered and did not.

My Maytag Refrigerator with the bottom freezer is a great

refrigerator, never have any problems with it. It however likes to

make knocking sounds-especially at night when I'm up alone. It sounds like someone is knocking at the door. I found it was the freezer. Don't know why

it does this??

Maytag MBF2254H Bottom Freezer Refrigerator - Bought this in April 207 and loved it -- it's roomy, the bottom freezer makes the refirgerator part easier to access so that there are fewer "forgotton" food items that go to waste. I have a big chest freezer. so the size of the freezer was unimportant to me. I liked the freezer with a door with shelves and interior basket, didn't have to move everything to find what I was looking for. It is also nice looking.

Now for the reason for a negative review. I came home last month to a puddle all around the refrigerator and everything was melted. After $246 it's working again, but not for long. There is an interior freon leak which cannot be repaired so I was told I might get 6 months out of it before it goes again. The repair man told me he had been seeing early repairs and failures with Maytags these days.

What is inside the fridge should not be visible. And also the bottom refrigerator, it stays as a major disadvantage when childrens are at home. Coz they often tend to open it easily & play with it. Other wise its good, with good internal design, Very spacious, large doors, adjustable shelves, reliable, able to clean very easily....

O love this .. It is the best it has plently of room in it ..very nice .. I had a regulared refigeratior and it was not as good as the ......I loved the color and the space that i had .. I had 6 drawers instead of 2 .. very handy doesnt take up much space ......

As a future senior citizen, already afflicted by arthritis, the easy access to all compartments of this refridgerator are the most attractive feature.

The temperature is consistent throughout the entire refridgerator. The adjustable shelves make it possible to store almost any product; tall bottles, big turkeys or hams, casserole dishes. The shelves are easy to pull out for easy cleaning.

The freezer on the bottom is an economical feature. The compressor runs less than the ones on top freezer models.

The crisper drawers are easy to see into and easy to remove for cleaning.

We are very happy with our choice.

Keep in mind that shelving across the refrigerator adds better storage as opposed to a side-by-side design which has split shelving. Having a freezer on the bottom is practical since it is the refrigerator which is used more frequently. The top french doors mean that you are saving energy by not having a full-size door open. The new refrigerators have more depth because of design with no coils to dust off periodically. This is an energy saving development, as well. Look for the "Energy Star" symbols....

"They don't make 'em like they used to." That is what the Maytag representative told me when I called about having to replace my compressor a second time in less than fourteen months. I was disappointed to say the least. We had also replaced the ice cube maker in the first six months we owned this appliance.

I deliberately bought Maytag because I believed they made a top quality product. The first compressor went out less than two months after we bought the fridge. The second went out a year later. We owned our previous refrigerator for twenty years and never replaced anything.

I will never pay extra for a Maytag again. The service was miserable. The representatives I spoke to were rude, arrogant, and refused to take responsibility for their products. I also bought a microwave, dishwasher, and stove at the same time we got the fridge. The dishwasher died after six months... a bad handle made of cheap plastic. When the repairman replaced it, he said that he replaces them all...

When we bought our home three years ago, it didn't come with a refrigerator so we had to buy one. My parents decided to get it for us as a housewarming gift and told us to just go to Lowe's and pick it out. My boyfriend's mother had purchased a bottom-freezer model for her house a few months earlier and I knew that was the style that I wanted to have. I knew they were very expensive and felt guilty for even considering one but my mother said to just pick out what I wanted. We eventually chose the least-expensive bottom-freezer model that Lowe's stocked: Maytag MBF2254H Bottom Freezer Refrigerator.

21.9 cubic feet is plenty of room for everything that we use each week. It has crisper drawers, a deli drawer, and even an enclosed dairy compartment. The door bins are extra-deep and allow you to store two rows of items or large things like a gallon of milk or a 2-liter bottle of soda. It's so much easier to have the refrigerator part up on top so you can easily see everything...
