We bought our Maytag Neptune Washer a few years back and I am pleased with the way it has performed except for the noise level. I don't do any washing when my youngest is taking a nap- it has woke him up. Other than that I really love the washer. We have always owned a Maytag and have always been pleased with this brand.
...

I have had my Magtag Neptune Washer for nine years now and have had no problems with it. It out cleans and out last any washer I have ever had, and I have had a few. It uses less water, detergent, fabric softner, and most of all electric. I don't expect to buy another washer for quite a few years, but if I do it will most deffently will be a Magtag Neptune or other Maytag frount loading washing machine.
...

KSML26 says "It started out as a great washer but broke beyond repair quickly" about Maytag Neptune Washer

We got the Maytag Neptune washing machine as a replacement for our old washer that had recently broken but this one was a dissappointment. At first it was amazing and always left our clothes very dry after it was done spinning because it was able to spin so fast. Then, within a month from getting it, it began to stop spinning all together and left our clothes absolutely soaked. There would be water built up in the bottom of the machine and things would come out dripping all over the floor. It was impossible to work with because then it started making our dryer work twice as long, sometimes taking multiple hours to dry a load. A repair like this is expensive and not worth it for a washing machine so we ended up having to replace this one just like the last one. A frustrating washer that is not worth the money. Don't get one new or used, no matter how good the deal. I'd suggest spend a little money on a washer, especially becuase it is such an important part of a house.
...

rondap says "Save your money!" about Maytag Neptune Washer

We purchased the Maytag Neptune in 2002. It was so widely advertised that it was going to save us water. Living in the city, I was looking to save on my water bill, so I thiought this machine would pay for itself. WRONG!

We had to replace the door seal and the inside door panel. When the seal split, water ended up all over my basement during a wash cycle. The door panel had a hole worn into it from blue jeans, towels and blankets rubbing against it.

Socks seem to get lodged in between the door and the door seal and you will need to fish them out and ring them out or they will be soaked and will not dry. If you have a small child the sock may disappear altogether.

For the $999.99 I paid for this, I am extremely disappointed. This washer will have occasional "ticks" where the timer will not work correctly or the washer will stick on spin because it can't handle the load of laundry.
...

preachitwoman says "never buy a Maytag Neptune" about Maytag Neptune Washer

I bought a Maytag Neptune washer in Nov. of 2005. Paid $800 for it. You would think you bought a washer that was going to last you for at least 7 or 8 years. At least I did. I really didn't think I would have any trouble this soon. I had just washed a load of colored clothes. Then I put in a load of sheets. Went up stairs while they were washing. Went back down stairs to find a signal, it's digital, with the code UC. So I thought it was unbalanced. Straighten the clothes, started the washer up again. Go back to the washer later, the same thing, UC. Called Maytag. They set up an appointment with a repair company. I tried the washer again before the repair man came out just to make sure it still needed repaired. The same thing. What it was doing is it would wash the clothes but would not spin the clothes when it came to the rinse cycle. It would always shut off after the fabric softner was released into the clothes but would not go any further. So I had to wring the clothes out by hand. When...
...

Since purchasing the Maytag washer my utility bills have decreased also the amount of time it takes to do the laundry has decreased. I use less water and can do larger loads of laundry. With five kids at home and a husband I use to have to start laundry the night before and do laundry all day and night. With the Maytag Neptune washer I start doing laundry in morning and I am usually finished by the time the kids get home from school. I do not have worry about the fabric softener or bleach. I just put everything in the dispenser and it dispenses when it time for it. The dispenser tray comes out if you need to clean it. The Maytag Neptune washer has a number different cycles. Large items fit well in the washer without lint build up on the clothing. I have never had anything to get caught up in the washer. You do not have worry about taking out an agitator the clean out the loose change. You can safely wash delicate items. The Maytag Neptune has been a time saver and and energy saver for me....
...

I recently bought a new house and with it came the inheritance of a Maytag Neptune washer and dryer from Lowes. To me the washer feels new as it is only about two or three years old and is still under warranty. It's my first front loading washer and I really like it! Once you start the wash cycle the door locks, so you don't accidently open it while its' washing and make a mess. It's also easily unlockable in case you forgot to add an item to the wash.

The Neptune washer is easy to use and an energy saving machine. There are many special settings, like presoak, extra rinse, maximum extract, stain cycle and delayed wash. There is also a timer so you can see how much time is left for the wash. And in addition to your regular fabricate settings, there's my favorite setting, wrinkle free!

I would give this machine 2 thumbs up!
...

I bought this and the dryer and love them both. I bought floor models and purchased the extended warranty, which I've never had to use. I like the simplicity of the features, its very easy to learn how to use. I'm really happy with my purchase and haven't experienced any of the problems metioned by other reviewers. I find it to be very energy efficient and haven't noticed any major increases in my power or water consumption when I have a lot of laundry to do (Which happens when you have a baby!)
...

After years of living in the laundromat, I treated myself to this set of appliances, and it's one of the best decisions I've ever made. Energy efficient, super quiet, they get clothes cleaner than a top loader, and the dryer is super...my jeans are dry before the next load is ready to come out of the washer. I've had this pair for seven years, and have had a service man out once...to fix a door that came out of alignment because my son used the machine as a step ladder. I expect they will last for years to come, my family had a Maytag washer and dryer when I was a teenager that's still going strong today.
...

Maytag Neptune Front Loader-non-electronic control

If this machine ever dies, I will go through the five stages of grief. I purchased my machine in 2000 and use it every day. I love it because it saves so much water and detergent, henceforth so much of my green. I love it because it is smart and knows if the load is big or little. I love how it wrings every drop of water out of my clothes, towels and blankets so that they dry almost instantly on the line. I love that it is gentle, never tearing up a bra or slip. I love to stuff it totally full of clothes, because I CAN, and yes, they WILL be clean. I love that my washer has NEVER had an odd smell even though I never clean it or leave the door open and live in Missouri with 90% humidity and keep it in a stuffy little laundry room with little ventilation. . I love that it has push buttons and a big knob and I am in control of how much detergent or softener goes in, or how to treat a grass stain. I love that it has NEVER needed one repair....
...

babydollplus says "Do not buy front loading Neptune washers" about Maytag Neptune Washer

The Maytag Neptune washers are very unreliable. I have had one and will never own a front loading washer ever again.

The 2 most common problems are the rubber ring and the water that sits in that ring-and the mold that comes along with it and the computer board.

No matter what you use to "clean" the inside of the washer, it always has a moldy, old water smell. As for quiet, I don't really notice a difference. And I think any washer can get "uneven"-even front loaders.

I think alot of people will be wanting to trade their front load washers in after a couple of years. It seems like these washers are only reliable for a couple of years and if you do not take a extended warranty, you will be stuck with an overpriced washer that costs more to fix than a new, top loader.

You can get the same kind of wash from the top loader, non agitator, washers.

When I bought Maytag, I thought I was getting a reliable washer, but this Neptune is going to keep the Maytag repairman very busy....
...

I purchased the Maytag Neptune front loading washing machine after having a top loader for years that I had a good experience with so I thought I'd buy another Maytag. Big mistake! It washes clothes fine but boy does it stink! The rubber gasket is black with mold that will not come off. I run a load with bleach about once a week washing old rags, tried cleaning the gasket and nothing works. I was not notified of the class action lawsuit until I started doing some research on this and found out accidentily and unfortunately too late. I refuse to pay a repairman plus I've heard it just comes back. I'm looking to purchase a new machine but after reading about three manufacturers who have lawsuits against them on the new front loading machines, I will stick with another top loader.
...

This is a great washing machine and although i would like the latest machines out there, this one is just as good. It is perfect for those that are not that tall because it is front loading. I used to have to tip-toe to get to the bottom of the barrel in the top loading machines and I'm 5'3". My girls are able to wash clothes on there own with no supervision. My youngest is 9. I've had this machine for about 5 years now and the only problem i currently have is that when it spins its loud. BUT - i think that happened when we moved. Other than that it has been great. I would highly recommend this washer to anyone. It also is great for those with small children. It has a safetly lock so it can't open. Almost forgot, it has a pause button for those last minute items that got left behind.
...
