I purchased the Maytag Legacy Series Dryer model number MED5770TQ0 from Home Depot in 2007 and have been unhappy with it for two years. While it is still working for the most part, I have had a repairman work on it seven different times. This model overheats easily and must sit about a foot from the wall which is very inconvenient. I'm always dropping things behind it and it takes forever to try and fish them our. The Sensor Dry control never seems to work properly. I'm just have to keep turning the dryer back on over and over. The filter in located on the top of the machine which makes a mess when you have to clean it out. The lint goes everywhere. Plus, it is one of the loudest dryers I have ever owned. My last dryer was a GE brand that lasted for eighteen years. I don't think this one will last another year at the rate it is going. I have to dry everything on low heat. If I use the high heat setting for heave items such as bulky towels, then they come out with a terrible smell. So next...
...

We are extremely pleased with our new Maytag dryer. We weren't looking for the new style dryer. Our dryer had broken and within 24 hours, after shopping around and knowing what our budget was, we found this Maytag and have been very pleased. Installation of the new dryer was simple. It is drying our clothes in about 20 minutes faster than our older dryer was. The size of this dryer is perfect for a family. The drum is much larger than the average dryer. I would certainly recommend this dryer for anyone who is shopping for a dryer with a budget in mind.
...

I BOUGHT MY MAYTAG SET,. AND I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLE, EVEN BOUGHT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT AFTER THE REPAIRS HAD EXCEDED THE COST OF THE WARRANTY , I AM OUT OF LUCK AND I AM STILL STUCK WITH TWO HUGE LEMONS IN MY UTILITY ROOM! IF YOU ARE LOOKING, YOU KNOW THE NAME MAYTAG CARRIES A VERY PRICEY TAG, SO BE VERY CAREFUL. MY EXPERIENCE IS AS FOLLOWS, THE TIMER AND TRANSMISSION HAVE BOTH BEEN REPLACED NUMEROUS TIMES ON THE WASHER, AND THE DRYER BEARINGS ...SAME STORY, THEN THERE IS THE TIMER ON THE DRYER, IT HAS NEVER WORKED, WILL NOT SHUT OFF, SO I HAVE TO SET A TIMER IN THE KITCHEN TO REMIND ME TO GET CLOTHES OUT OF DRYER, WHICH IS EXTREMELY ANNOYING, AND LASTLY, THE SET WE BOUGHT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE SUPER QUIET, ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS WE BOUGHT THEM, THEY ARE JUST AS NOISEY OR NOISIER THAN OUR OLD SET WHICH I REGRET GIVING AWAY!!!!! SO BUYER PLEASE BE WARE!...

We bought this dryer (specifically, the Maytag MDE4658AYW) in November 2006. We spent more than we wanted to because we wanted one with a lot of versatility and that would last a long time. It had lots of cycles and temperature choices and, of course, lots of lights! (The lights didn't matter at all to us, but it seems that when you buy lots of features, you get lots of lights!) It worked great for 2 years and 2 months. Then the motor died.

When we originally bought the machine, we paid $400, which was a good amount of money for a dryer at that time. The repairman quoted us $320 to fix it. He also recommended that we not fix it, but rather spend our money on a new machine of a different brand.

Maytag has always had a good reputation, which was part of the reason we bought it. Was our problem just a fluke? Should we fix it, and stay with good ol' Maytag? I was researching the problem on the internet and I found a fix-it forum where a man was talking about having the exact same problem with......

I've had my maytag dryer for over 10 years now! and I LOVE IT.. I have 4 kids. And do at least 3 loads of laundry a day. now thats regular laundry. Not counting once a week.. change of sheets... and once a month.. adding curtains etc. all the extras! And I have yet to have any kind of a problem with it. And I also have a maytag washer too! And same thing.. NO problems with it.. and I bought them together! So.. I can truly say.. that Maytag man, is sitting around, with NO work from me! :) I'm the only one doing all the work.. well my washer and dryer are! I just put them in.. and they do all the work for me and my family! so how great is that. Worry free.. now thats how I like my appliances to be.
...

The Maytag Electric dryer holds a BIG LOAD! I have had this dryer for about 3 years and never had any maintenance issues. It dries clothes well, and has plenty of features. You can choose a "timed dry" and select how many minutes to run a load, or you can choose "sensor dry" and allow the dryer to sense when clothes are no longer moist. There are also the typical features of cool air, fluff, etc.

The one very annoying thing about this dryer is that it has a beeper that goes off when the clothes are dry. My beeper has been on the fritz for about a year. It starts randomly beeping over and over again for no reason. Even when I shut the dryer off, it will turn on and begin beeping!!!

This may not be a common problem, and since it does dry huge loads of clothes well, I'd say I am fairly happy with this product.
...

The Bottom Line: If you want to save money on the price of a dryer & then save on energy costs & time doing laundry, this is for you!

We just returned home from a 2 week Scandinavia/Russian cruise with 2 weeks of laundry to do. With my body clock way off, I was up in 4 hours so I did the large load of whites in my front load washer. Then put the darks in as final load & whites were in my Kenmore dryer that was 7 years old & out of warranty. 10 minutes later smoke detectors go off & the dryer is on fire. Luckily the clothes were damp & I got them out as husband took the hose & got it out. So I have 2 loads of wet laundry & no dryer.

H H Gregg is in our area with same day delivery that they advertise heavily, so I give them a call. They have "get the same discount as our employees" going on, but first we went to Lowe's but delivery won't be til Tuesday since Monday is Memorial Day & union delivery doesn't work weekends or holidays. Then we went to Home Depot but delivery not for a week....
...
