I must say that I am a huge fan of the Mariah from the 90s. My favorite album of hers is Daydream, and she just had so many amazing songs! Now with her comeback, she has switched to become an R & B singer. This type of music does not really showcase her unique singing style, and there seems to be some kind of rapper on every other track. Nevertheless, I love to listen to a few of the tracks on here, my favorite being "We Belong Together". I still miss the old Mariah with songs like "One Sweet Day" and "I Don't Wanna Cry", but she still has a great voice and her songs have improved from Charmbracelet. I'd suggest you go on iTunes and purchase only a few songs.

I love mariah Carey and The Emancipation of Mimi gives everyone else a reason to love her too. Besides spawning two number 1 singles this album is from beginning to end amazing. I had never purchased a Mariah Carey Cd before this one mostly because I was too young and couldn't count but when I got this album I was blown away. Every single song on the album was a single worthy song and not too many albums are made that way. If you have some time please listen too the album and when you are in the car blast it so everyone can here the amazibgf vocals of mimi....

Bottom-Line: The Emancipation of Mimi will not go done in my book-or my CD collection-as THE great Mariah comeback CD; I am still waiting for that one.

I like Mariah Carey despite herself. There is something sweet and innocent (still) about her nature that I find compelling. You want to like her, you want her to succeed. But sadly her mind is not the only thing that snapped way back at the close of the last century; her voice did too, and neither has recovered in sufficient measure. Exhibit A: Mariah 36 dresses like Mariah at 25, only at 25 Mariah did not have a weight problem and could dress in revealing dresses. Exhibit B: the voice, the famous multi-octave voice that so defined Mariah is all bout gone, shattered by too much of well, everything. I don't say these things to be mean spirited, only to put things in perspective as I move forward with my review of The Emancipation of Mimi.
