I didn't think I would like March of the Penguins. I am not much for what I thought was going to be an animated movie and I am not much of a G rated movie lover. I did love March of the Penguins. In a sentence if you love nature, amazing photography, the miracles of life, love, and animals you will want to watch the March of the Penguins.

This is the kind of movie you can see over and over again. It's is a story of thousands of emperor penguins who make a 70-mile trek to find their mate. These beautiful animals don't fly and although they are aquatic they don't swim as we know it. They walk all day and all night in single file in the coldest place on earth - Antarctic.

Though you may think penguins are just fine in the 80 degree below weather and the 100-mile an hour winds they are not and some don't make the harrowing several time round trip from their breeding spot to the place where they can get food.

When this movie first came out, I was convinced it was yet another boring animal documentary. One of those with the monotone narrator that practically puts you to sleep. When I finally rented this movie I was very surprised how wrong I had been. The narration by Morgan Freeman was spectacular. He made it fun and captivating, not monotone and boring.

This movie takes you through a year in the life of a penguin. It shows how much these animals go through just to mate every year. It was amazing to learn about everything the penguins go through and how hard they work. They walk hundreds of miles to get to the breeding grounds every year and then walk back and forth all those hundreds of miles, to find food. I think this movie, and the penguins, really put life and love into perspective for me. There are many heartbreaking moments and even more inspiring moments.

The cinematography is amazing especially if you watch the making of the movie on the dvd. It's even more amazing...

This movie was superb. Well shot in hard conditions. The penguins were great and the narration by Morgan Freeman made the movie feel even more real. You really learned something and were entertained at the same time....

March of the Penguins (2005)

What is it?
March of the Penguins is a documentary about Penguins! Narrated by Morgan Freeman, this movie transforms us into the world of penguins.

Every year penguins travel to their breeding grounds to mate, hatch eggs, raise their babies and make their way back home.
Along the way, they face predators, get sick, and lose the group and get lost.
But with the bad, there is much more good. Baby "chicks" are born and it's so touching to see the Daddy penguin take care of them.

My Viewpoint!
We came across March of the Penguins on the Discovery Channel and was captivated. I have heard and read all the reviews on this movie, which have ranged from great to terrible. I wasn't so sure that I would enjoy a movie about nothing but Penguins, but I did.

This movie is educational, exciting, sad and so very informative.

This movie was incredibly over-hyped. I rented it to watch as a family. We tried several times to watch it, but we could not manage to get through it. It was entirely too slow and boring. The only redeeming quality was that the nature shots were really good....

Morgan Freeman narrates this beautiful, moving, sometimes sad, often beautiful documentary (that actually does well on the big screen). There are no big stars in this, just thousands of the cutest most beautiful little guys you could think of. They are amazing animals and this depicts the life cycle of them and the way they live facing brutally cold conditions, attacks by seals, and the heartbreak they suffer (like humans) when chicks die or are taken from them. This is brilliant and unlike any other documentary I've seen. It captivated me from start to end and it's a must see. Listening to Morgan Freemans soothing voice is so pleasant and he was easily the best choice to narrate this. Go see this. I highly, highly recommend it....

This movie was rather disappointing. With all the hype I'd heard, I expected a great movie. Instead, it was...boring. I love penguins. I collect penguins. I did not like this movie. It was very much a documentary. It had great pictures and camera work, but the rest was not interesting. I watched it with my parents & husband and by the end we were all making up our own words and storyline. It was more interesting that way. If you are looking to learn something about penguins, this might be a good movie, but if you want to be entertained, this won't do it!...

wow, what an amazingly wonderful movie, i have never realized the hardships that penguins go through to welcome thier young into the world, the penguins are shown so well , the cameras caught just the right angles, so amazing, this was a movie that was touching but parts of it was a bit sad, so it depends on your child, if they are very sensitive i would probably not watch it just yet....

For adults, this movie is great, for young children on the other hand, it is one of the most boring films they ever saw. I made the mistake when this first came out, of buying it for my now 8 year old thinking it was a childrens movie by the way she went on about wanting to see it. not a good choice, she hated it when we got it. It is very infomative, but not child friendly....

I enjoyed watching March of the Penguins but I don't think it would hold the interest of small children because it goes into such detail and doesn't have alot of activity to catch a childs's interest. I was impressed at how closely to the facts from this movie were also used in Happy Feet. Thought the photography was very good. it went into great detail in describing the tough life a penguin has....

When I first saw this movie it was not what I was expecting, I was waiting for it to pick up. But then it started to get a lot better and I learned a lot. There were lots of things about Penguins that I learned and I enjoyed the camera work. It was amazing how beautiful everything was. I was very glad that I watched this movie....

I heard about this documentary before it came out and was really looking forward to seeing it. Others said how good it was. Needless to say, I was very dissapointed. It was so boring and slow. I'm an animal lover, but watching penguins walk on ice or slide on ice is interesting one time, if that. I thought it was informative, sad in some parts, and gave us a good look at the life of a penguin. But overall I would not recommend it because I think it'll put you to sleep. Boring and slow!...
