I got the magnavox dvd and vcr combinaton player at walmart for i beleive around eighty dollars. I had to have the vcr part, and it is getting very hard to find just a vcr anymore. I bought this about a year ago i guess. It has served its purpose very well, but it has a few quirks to it. Like for instance, the button that switches the player from vcr to dvd player an vice versa on the unit itself, is getting very hard to push, seems you have to push it extra hard for it to work anymore. something else i noticed was that when you play vhs tapes it has good sound and picture, but when you play dvds the picture is still good but the sound seems to be very low. I dont know what the difference is, but it is kind of a pain. Also if you leave the dvd side on for too long, and do not push play, it will switch back to the vcr side. Like i said i only paid 80.00 for it and i have had it about a year so i guess i got my moneys worth.
...

Magnavox DVD/VCR player is a great inexpensive player that works good. It does however, from time to time stick or stalls where it just holds the picture as is. It also does not play while in that mode. But can be over ridden with on/off.

Otherwise a decent player
...

Paid $49 on sale for this combo product and couldn't be happier. Best of all, it will play dvd, dvd+r, dvd-r recordings. So convenient and easy to hook up. Both vcr and dvd work on the same channel unlike some combos that use one channel for the vcr another input for the dvd. Fits nicely into frame beneath tv stand unit. We are huge video watchers and consider this product better than our expensive Toshiba model....

miseryinmissouri says "great for making copies of your tapes" about Magnavox - DVD/VCR Combo

I bought this DVD/VCR recorder combination for Christmas especially to make copies of my tapes. This is a great piece of equipment and makes great copies. It gives you the opportunity to make copies at different speeds/quality. The only backdraw is that it takes quite a while to load the discs. But it definitely does a good job of making copies and that was my primarily goal....

Honehe says "Not worth the money" about Magnavox - DVD/VCR Combo

I purchased this DVD/VCR combo less than a year ago. Last week, each time I put a tape in the VCR part, whether to watch or record, the tape would run for approximately 5-10 seconds, then the VCR would shut down. When I turn it back on, the tape ejects. I called Magnavox with the problem and was told that the labor warranty expired after 90 days. If I could find my receipt, I would need to photocopy it and send the VCR, along with a $45 money order, to their warehouse in Vermont, and they would take a look at it. If I could not find the receipt, it would be better to throw it away and get a new one. I paid over $200 for this item and it lasted less than a year. When I was speaking with their representative, she told me that this model had several problems and most consumers found it easier to replace it than to attempt to repair it. I will have to replace this item, but I definitely will not be replacing it with another Magnavox product. For the price, I would expect such......
