the magellan roadmate is the best gps out there... it is very easy to use.... just hit what you want if you want to enter an address it's easy... the screen is just the right size... and it adapts the the lighting... at night time the screen becomes a bit brighter in the day time it has no glare.... i would recommend anyone going on a trip to try this.. i have used others and none compare....

We purchased the Magellan Road Mate 1200 GPS Device about a year and a half ago. While on a road trip from Florida to Illinois, it went crazy...told us there was no card in it. Had to find a Sears store to try and get it replaced, found one , but they did not have the same model. So we opted for a Tom Tom Gps device. I would not recommend Magellan GPS Devices to anyone.

My wife bought the magellan roadmate 1200 as a gift for me. I own a small trucking company and do A LOT of driving- mostly to new places. This device has been a life saver- not sure how I lived without one until now. It is very easy to use and very accurate. I was also very happy with how quickly it retrieves information when starting out as well as when it's rerouting you. I have friends who have similarly priced devices and performance is not always that great. I also really like the POI and search features. Nice to have when you're in a new area and need to quickly find points of interests like restaurants or stores. It's very simple to operate and quick and easy to hide or transfer to another vehicle. You can even use it when you're walking! I'd recommend this device to anyone looking for a reasonably priced GPS unit. Why spend a fortune when this one gets the job done and is easy to use out of the box.

We were planning a trip down south and no idea how to get there, we're used mapquest lots of times before but its frustating because you don't always have enough time to get over to get off the exit or you might miss something and if you're driving and your partner is sleeping then you can't read and drive at the same time. So we finally broke down and purchased the magellan - road mate 1200. It was the best money we have ever spent. It gives you plenty of time to get ready to make your exits or turns, it doesn't matter if your partner is sleeping while you drive, because the gps keeps track of you anyhow. It was so nice not to have to stop and ask for directions for once and it took us right where we needed to go. It was nice being able to look like we knew where we were, even if we didn't. It's also easy to use, and has lots of neat features. The place we were staying at had a full kitchen, so it was nice to be able to ask for a grocery store and walmart and it took us to...

I am one of those guys who loves toys and I have a lot of them. One of the best toys I have purchased in recent months was my Magellan 1200 Global Positioning System. As soon as I purchased it I tried out in the city where I live to a known location that I regularly travel. At first I was skeptical because it was sending me in a direction I would not have taken. However, it got me there faster than I normall. I particularly like the feature that allows yopu to sellect the fastest route, the shortest route and the route with the least use of freeways. I live in Milwaukee Wisconsin and I programed my unit to take me to Chicago without using freeways. I took an hour longer, but my wife and I had a nice liesurely scenic drive without getting on the freeway and not getting on each others nerves. The unit is easy to use and the voice directions are clear and do not sound mechanical at all. I do a lot of cross country driving to places I have never been before. I am looking...

I love my gps,
recently moved to a city type area from the country. If it werent for maggie I would just stay home. My gps gives me the confidence to drive in the big city areas w/o the worries of getting lost. My daughter age 8 can program maggie w/ ease so you can do it too. Kat thought there was a real person talking to her on the other end of the satellite until I told her maggie was a computer program.
She would say "Dad, maggie said to turn right". I have ran into a few occasional glitches w/ maggie but they have been few and far between. Worth every cent. I have only used half of the features so far but it is easy to learn and I look forward to the trip planner feature. If you get one, go on an adventure w/ your kids. Kat and I do this sometimes and it teaches her new things and she has enthusiasum for trips and adventure.

Husband really likes this GPS that I got him for Christmas. It was very easy to set up, it has text to voice, and is just the right size so it's not a distraction while driving....

This GPS Magellan Road Mate 1200 unit has a 3.5 inch color touchscreen. It makes it easy to navigate through the different screens. There are many features that are really handy to have available. We used the GPS while we're on the job. The job requires us to go to different commercial agriculture fields. We are able to find all job sites when we've the mailing address. There are times when you are on-site, but not at the original mailing address. We used the GPS to flag the exact location as a "Favorite". This feature allowed us to go to the nearest town for lunch and find our way back with "No Problems!!" Of course, the GPS provides a list of the nearest restaurants as well. It is very handy on trips.

Road Mate 1200 is very easy to use for those who aren't tech savvy. It does fill the need if you are tech savvy as well.
