the Iway 500c gps receiver is of average quality and fairly simple to use and navigate through. it has a fairly large screen, so your fingers even being slightly larger, can easily type what you need to look for. the quality and clarity are fair compared to the garmin which i am more familiar with and have used more frequenlty. the color and sharpness is of the screen are fair considering other models. this being a new version has its kinks, but overall is a pretty good model. it has a large database and can store large quantities of information. it is quite easy to understand, is easy to navigate, and is easy to use. you can downlaod music onto it, and use it as a mp3 player, which would eliminate costs. a few drawbacks are taht it is a new model, so there are obviously kinks and things that will need to be fixed when a newer version is released. the unit is also fairly large and clunky, so when a new model comes out it would be nice to have something a bit smaller.
...

saviourmachine says "Pricey but solid perfomer with many options." about Lowrance Electronics - iWAY 500C GPS Receiver

While being a large unit this thing is a great system for people who want to see what they are looking for while driving without having to take their eyes off the road to focus for a long time. It has a built in MP3 player, and has several programmable features to allow for on map content such as, arrival time, mph (GPS based). distance to destination, hot spots, etc. Plus with MP3 player, and large hardrive space, you can add your own playlist for the road and hear all the verbal commands and music straight through your radio with an FM adapter.

If you are lookin for an all inclusive unit this is the real deal. The Iway 600C is also currently available and has satellite imaging overlay as well as an FM modulator so you music verbal commands play directly through your vehicles FM radio.

Large price but worth the money!
...

I am one of those, "get-lost-in-your-backyard" type of people...ok I admit it, I can't find my way out of my garage. I have a terrible sense of direction so this is why I am sooo in love with my iway.

The Lowrance iWay 500c does what a GPS navigation system should do: it provides an easy way of inputting destination addresses, it locks onto the GPS satellite system in a reasonable time, it provides generally clear directions via voice and on its large screen, and the device reroutes you if you make an error. The iWay 500c included 10 gigabytes of map data; therefore, you do not need to download and install maps for different trips.

The iWay 500c also includes a 10 gigabyte (GB) hard drive to load with MP3s for playback on your car stereo. Your unit can be connected to the accessory input of your car stereo if your car's system has one (mine does not.)

What you get

Lowrance iWay 500c unit
Mounting devices including the usual suction cup
USB cable
Software disc
Cloth screen cover/cap for...
...

momstoys says "The large screen & pleasant voice make this a great GPS" about Lowrance Electronics - iWAY 500C GPS Receiver

I really like this GPS because of its big screen. I didn't like the little 2-3 inch screens most models have. We live near NYC and I hated going into the city before I had this. I was always afraid of getting lost and terrified of being detoured. This unit reroutes instantly and is very simple to follow. It also gives a variety of viewing options which make it nice. My only real complaint is that it is very heavy. This is unpleasant becasue I don't want to leave it in my car when valet parked, so I have to put it in my purse. On the other hand, I usually park near where I am going if it is valet, so it isn't really THAT big a deal.

...
