This is my first universal remote so I don't have another remote to compare it to.

That said, I _love_ the Harmony 880! I'm using it to control my TV, whole house audio system and Popcorn Hour A-110.

Going from 3 remotes down to 1 is a huge improvement and the setup was relatively straight forward.

My only real complaint is that the remote seems way too light. I realize it's all plastic and the guts are probably pretty small but I do like to have a little heft to items like these.

Even so, I'm really digging this remote, would buy it again and would recommend it to other people.
...

Here's another good remote from Logitech. All of their remotes are computer compatible and are very easy to set up. Logitech has a good reputation for a solid product and it shows in this remote. I purchased the Logitech Harmony 880 LCD Remote Control to help my family with "control clutter", in particular all of the numerous remotes for the electronic stuff we have. There's a remote for the tv, dvd, vcr, (yes, we still have one of those), tuner, cd player and satellite controller.

The set up is simple and intuitive. It is truly seamless if you have the serial numbers for each of your products, unfortunately I didn't have all the serial numbers I needed but I was still able to determine the ones I did have with the help of Logitech's programming on the computer. Every time I set up one of these "universals" I am always amazed that one small remote can be used for all of my products, and that it works. The Harmony's screen is very helpful for all the tv watchers in our family, since there...
...

The Logitech Harmony 880 remote has possibly saved my marriage. My husband is not as tech savvy as I, and after we purchased our new TV, home theater set up, and signed up for TiVo - the whole set up was beyond him. I would get phone calls at work because he couldn't figure out which remote to use to play a tape for our preschooler ... you get the picture. Then along came the Logitech Harmony 880 remote. I gulped a bit at the price - but after searching online I managed to get it at a great deal - about half of retail. And once I fully understood what it can do, I would have paid three times the price. A very tech savvy friend helped my set it up - but I could have easily done it myself. The software is very user friendly - it really leads you through all the steps, and I have successfully made some changes to the programming on my own. My favorite feature is the Help button - if something isn't working right, it takes you step by step to figure out what component somehow...
...

The Harmony 880 is amazing. I had the 880, and then upgraded to the 890 to get RF capability (ability to go through walls), but the remotes are the same. If you have never used an Activity based remote such as any of the Harmonies or a URC remote, you just don't know what you are missing. Before I had used one, I saw them at the store and couldn't believe someone would pay that much for a remote control, and now wouldn't dream of living without it. Activity based means you press one button, say Watch TV, and the remote does everything you need to be watching TV; it will turn your TV on, turn your stereo receiver on, turn your cable receiver on, set your TV to the correct input, and set your stereo to the correct input. No more 10 remotes. No more pressing TV, then pressing Power, then pressing CBL, then pressing power, etc. My mom can come over and watch TV or a DVD with full surround sound without having to ask me how to do it.

To elaborate on the cons listed, I've worked with a lot of......

After getting a new plasma TV, an HD digital terminal, dvd, vcr, video game consoles it started to get very cluttered with all of the remotes. I began with the Harmony 659 which was ok. I upgraded to the 880 and it's been simply awesome. I had one issue with configuring the favorite channels but since the configuration is online, I just sent an email to Harmony support and they fixed the configuration for me on their end and simply told me to update the remote with the new settings and everything was fixed! Great support and a great remote....

An awesome remote that can control practically anything. I have a TV, HD-DVD player, Xbox 360, Wii, Ps3, and an HDMI switch all hooked up to this remote and it works perfectly. The wii and ps3 are both bluetooth so you cannot control it with this remote but you can set everything up for those devices to work, you just have to turn the systems on with your controllers. This remote has a color screen, albeit small and low-resolution, and is rechargable. Great remote!...

Ok, we bought the HDTV, Blue Ray, DVR, and game system. We have the remotes for the television, cable/dvr, blue ray, dvd player. I tried going with the "universal" remote that came with the cable box, but, was constantly having to teach the wife & daughter how to use this remote. I had no problems using it, however, I do admit it was not the easiest remote to use. So, I started searching for a better universal remote and discovered remote utopia in the Logitech Harmony 880. The remote seemed a little pricey, but, if you do your shopping you can find a pretty good deal on this remote.

After purchasing the remote I quickly discovered even at full retail, this is an amazing remote! It's incredibly easy to setup, just plug it into your computer via the USB port and use the Logitech software to configure it by telling it what devices you have, it's really that simple. My wife loves it, my daughter loves it, I love it, what more can you want?

My only complaint is the default values...
...

I have to say I have never been happier with a universal Remote. It does everything it says it will. And the ease of Setup was unbelievable. I thought it was a not going to be that easy, but I was surprised. I had become so frustrated with the all the remotes for all the components that watching TV had become a chore. Friends staying at my house couldn't figure the system out to watch tv. Now push one button, everything works. Want to do something else... push one button, everything works. I have been recommending it to friends, family and even strangers at the store. It's definitely worth every dime.
...

My wife and I are not stupid people. We graduated college, have attended all kinds of classes and trainings for specialized knowledge in our fields and are respected in our careers. However with a new TV, DVD player, and Cable box, not to mention Tivo, the AV receiver, and everything else in our entertainment center, we had a table full of remotes, and we had to think about what we wanted our entertainment center to do and what remote (or remotes) we needed to use every time we watched TV or a movie. After a long day neither of us were up to the task of thinking; I mean why watch TV if you want to think?
The first problem in looking for a universal remote we had was our Tivo, none of the remotes looked like they would make the Tivo work right. Most looked like they would control it, but without some of the features we use all the time (love that quick back up button). We did look at this remote, but we were not sure. It did not seem like it would do everything we wanted and were unsure...
...
