vnelson says "I hate this yarn" about Lion Brand Wool-Ease Yarn

I bought yarn in a major sale at jo anns a couple of years ago to make a sweater that was made with a shrug connected to the body. I never worked with wool or wool blends before and i thought that since its part acrylic then it has to be nice and soft to the skin.

How wrong i was!

Once i was done with the sweater i tried it on only to find out that the yarn is itchy like hell! I couldnt stop itching for my life and yet I loved the sweater that i just knit. Sadly, I couldnt wear this sweater because the yarn is too itchy and had to give the sweater away to charity.

Im never, ever going to buy this yarn again.
...

Lillydot says "Great, Great, Great!" about Lion Brand Wool-Ease Yarn

I recently bought a skein of the Lion brand Wool Ease Chunky yarn in a charcoal gray color to knit a pair of gloves. This yarn in 80% acrylic, 20% wool. This was my first time trying this type of yarn from Lion Brand, and i must say, I am VERY impressed! The yarn was thick and strong. I easily knitted my project. The stitches were clear and easy to see and the finished product was very warm and not at all scratchy, like some wool yarns can be. And its machine washable and dry-able with minimum shrinkage. I do a cold water wash and a cool dry and it seems to do the trick. Next, I'm gonna knit up a pair of socks! It's mighty cold here in Boston in the winter, and I'm sure this yarn will come in handy!...

This yarn is ok for scarfs, but is scratchier than a lot of wool. It's cheap though and washable....

I used this yarn in three different colors for three different sweater patterns.

Each sweater came out beautifully, the surface soft and the drape of the finished sweater wonderful. The Black yarn was nice and dark, but created nice shadows with the textured stitches. The Cranberry red is a nice happy red, working well for an Aran sweater. Rose heather is the last color I've tried with this brand, and although the garment is lovely in all ways, there were quite a few slubs that I needed to cut out.

Over all, I highly recommend this yarn for swetaers and blankets.
...
