I hated spending so much money on nursing pads with my first. So 6 years later when I was pregnant with my second I heard of this great product LilyPads. I thought if they could save me some money in the long run the $20 they cost would be worth it. I got the pads a used them while I was pregnant and they worked great because I only had minor leaking. After my son was born, I tried to use the pads again and at my next feeding it completely leaked out and made a huge mess. I thought perhaps I had applied them wrong and tried again a couple days later for good measure, unfortuantely the same experience. I have a strong let-down and hence the LilyPads don't work. I have now regretted spending the money on the LilyPads. I haven't even tried with my current child fearful of a repeat. I will admit that I did wear them a couple times with my second child while swimming. I wanted a little protection from leakage where normal pads wouldn't work and figured that even if I did have a "malfunction"...
...

easytoentertain says "Great for leaks but not super long lasting" about LilyPadz Non-Absorbent Nursing Pads

I bought these lily padz because I am most definitly a leaker. I love that these completely stop the leaks when applied correctly. The problems comes in getting them on correctly. If you are breast feeding in public you are left with this sticky silicone breast pad that you have to stick somewhere on you so that no one can see it. Also they lose their sticky pretty quick even when following the directions and only using dish soap. I do like them for braless reasons, but am still having issues getting them not to leak overnight.
...

These are a really neat alternative to cloth-like breastpads.

They work well, and it's nice to not have the pad slip around in your bra all the time. It's great to not leak, and have wetness on your breast all day.

But-they have to be washed to regain stickiness after 3-4 times wearing them. They wear out after a few months and you have to buy more. And, the reason I quit using them, is it HURTS to peel them off of a sore nipple!!!!!
...

gd says "Not very effective and can cause mastitis(breast infection)" about LilyPadz Non-Absorbent Nursing Pads

When I had my first child, I though LilyPadz would be great for preventing leaks and wearing what you want. However, the first time I tried it (after boiling it as directed), I ended up with a mastitis. I thought it might have been coincidence so I waited a few weeks and tried again. The same thing happened. In terms of leakage, it would still allow leakage. It just traps it under the pad. Then, when you try to remove it, the milk spills everywhere. Bottom line: Don't buy it!
...

I have recomended these to so many of my friends!! I had large breast before I was pregnant and they were even larger when I had my son so I was very nervous that these wouldn't fit and they did! I actually got to go to bed braless! They do leak if you go too long with them on. I will definatly use them again! They do need to be washed very throughly so as not to get an infection, but they don't smell like some pads do....

After nursing my first child for 15 months, I was going nuts wanting to sleep without a nursing bra binding me up, so when I came across Lilypadz, I was in Alt, thinking this was a definite answer to round two of nursing when my son came along.

They were fantastic - for the first five to seven wears, then the adhesive began to rub off in spots and I would leak all over the bed, which was what I was trying to avoid! I tried rewashing and following all the manufacturer's advice, but they were pretty much done for.

I paid $18 for two pairs, so I was able to get about 20 wears out of them, but when I put that cost against the cost of a disposable pad, I decided it wasn't worth it to buy any more, so here I am, 13 months later, still in bras at bedtime.
...

Jessica says "Lilypadz gave me freedom to wear cute clothes." about LilyPadz Non-Absorbent Nursing Pads

Lilypadz are breastpads made out of silicon rather than absorbent material. Rather than soaking up leaked milk, they put pressure on the nipple to stop the let-down reflex. Since they are flat rather than puffy, they don't show through clothes and can be worn with or without a bra, under clingy fabrics, and even under water. As an extremely self-conscious new mom whose main fears about parenting were that a) the baby might be hurt and b) I would look frumpy, Lilypadz had me at hello.

I found that they didn't live up to all their promises, but would still buy them again if I had a need for breastpads. Mine wore out after about four months rather than six (but I didn't need them anymore by then, so it was okay), and they did not hold back my most forceful leaks. When I wore them overnight, I would often wake to find them swimming on my chest in a pool of milk. However, for the most part, they worked exactly the way they were supposed to. They held the nipple down so that ordinary leaks did...
...
