So far, so good! As an employee of Liberty Mutual, I switched my renter's insurance when I moved into my new place this year and actually got way better coverage than what I had before (plus, I can pay my bills and view my account online, which believe it or not, my previous insurer did not provide!). The rep I worked with was really patient and answered my many questions, helped me to understand what I needed to do to get my engagement ring covered, etc. Haven't had to submit a claim yet, but I'll be sure to come back and comment on this review if I ever do!

Run and hid if you come across a salesperson from Liberty Mutual. I find Liberty Mutual to be untrustworthy, underhanded, unwilling to act on behalf of their customers. They defended me in a lawsuit but failed to keep me abreast of what they or the plaintiff were discussing. At no time did they ever confer with me. Nor did they ever tell me that they were entering into settlement discussions. I had to find out that my lawsuit was settled from a third party. This is one of the reasons I think they are horrible. I am a regular middle class guy. I had my auto, home owners and an umbrella policy through these people. All they cared about was preserving there the umbrella policy rather then doing their job in the courts.Another reason I feel this way if because I had another claim that they handled. My roof new rubberized roof blew off after a serve windstorm. They sent a repair service over. The contractor replaced the roof with a much cheaper product then the one I previously had...

I was a customer of Liberty Mutual for several years. They held my auto, homeowner's, and renter's insurance policies. To their credit, I enjoyed discounts for having multiple policies. In all those years, I never made a claim, never missed paying a bill. So...

When I returned from a two week vacation overseas, I sorted through the mail and found a letter from Liberty Mutual. Apparently I did not pay my renter's insurance bill before I left (oops, my bad) so they cancelled my policy!

Naturally I called to ask what happened... That's when I learned I had not paid my bill. I stated that I couldn't be more than two weeks late - that's how long I was away. Their response: you missed the bill deadline. That was all I needed to hear.

I pulled all my business.

A company that has no respect for loyalty is not a company I want to do business with.

Liberty Mutual was my provider for homeowners insurance for about five or six years, and I found them to be honest and upfront with me, while also being very fair the one and only time that I had to file a claim with them. I did eventually change insurance companies because I wanted to get a better rate by carrying multiple policies with the same company, but I did not change due to lack of cooperation or help from Liberty Mutual. When I filed a claim with them, an adjustor was out quickly to check out the damage and they were kind, compassionate, and courteous. They had a report done within about a day or so, and the check was in the mail for the claim and damage within a week or so, which I think is a pretty fair time for turnaround. The amount that I received was very fair and paid for all repairs that were necessary. My rates went up a bit, but I did not think the premium increase was unfair in any way.

ON 3/4/09 I WAS A VICTIM OF A NO FAULT ACCIDENT AND THE DRIVER WHO CAREENED INTO MY CAR RAN A RED LIGHT AND BECAUSE THIS DRIVER DID NOT HAVE ANY INSURANCE MY INSURANCE PREMIUMS WERE RAISED TWICE. THE INSURANCE REPRESENTATIVE THAT I SPOKE WITH SAID THAT MY RATES WOULD INCREASE FROM $167.75 TO $196.00 DOLLARS. THEN IN OCTOBER, LIBERTY MUTUAL RAISED UP MY PREMIUMS $250 DOLLARS MORE BECAUSE THEY MADE OUT A PAYMENT TO THE DRIVER WHO HAD NO INSURANCE AND WHO SHOULD HAVE TURNED IN HIS PLATES TO THE MOTOR VEHICLE DEPARTMENT. IT GOES TO SHOW THAT YOU DO NOT NEED INSURANCE BECAUSE IF YOU ARE AT FAULT LIBERTY MUTUAL WILL BE BEHIND THE PEOPLE WHO ARE CRIMINAL AND PAY THEM HANDSOMELY TO FIX THEIR CAR. MEANWHILE THOSE WHO DO HAVE INSURANCE AND DO FOLLOW TRAFFIC LAWS ARE PENALIZED FOR HAVING INSURANCE. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE CHOOSING LIBERTY MUTUAL FOR HANDLING ANY AUTO INSURANCE NEEDS AS THEY ARE VERY CROOKED IN THEIR PRACTICES. DESPITE THE POLICE REPORT CLARIFYING THAT THE DRIVER WAS INATTENTIVE...

Liberty Mutual has an agent - Joseph Gomez - who treated me like a valued customer from the moment we touched base with each other. The original contact was through an Internet inquiry regarding my immediate need for renter's insurance which I had never purchased before even though I had been a tenant for many years. I was not familiar with the types of policies available, the different riders, and which ones would best meet my needs. Agent Gomez spoke to me numerous times on the phone and patiently walked me through the process answering all of my questions completely so I understood what I was purchasing and what the coverage was protecting me from as well as the cost involved. He gave me his work phone and his cell phone so I could reach him at any time. Once we had settled on a policy, he faxed all the paperwork to me right away so my coverage was in effect immediately. I had such geat peace of mind. He even set it up so my premiums would be automatically deducted from my checking account...

We decided to go with Liberty Mutual about 5 years ago. At that time it saved us over $500 between our auto and homeowners ins. We have two children ages 20 and 22 who attend college so they are still on our insurance. They receive perks because of good grades etc. We had a minor fender bender a few years back, not our fault and they are available 24/7, we had everything taken care of quickly. Scott who is our agent is always available either thru phone or email. If he is not he will tell us and advise us on who to contact if we need to. What I like the most is that Scott will notify us if he sees something in our policy that we don't have and should or if there is something we don't need, which will save us money in the long run.

prices are probably the best in the market. i had changed my homeowners to another company and they started giving me hassles about my house ie. This needs to be fixed and this needs to be added, I quickly went back home to liberty..lol.....
