kid-kansas says "The Heater we bought for our Cockatiels." about Lasko 5365 Ceramic Compact Heater

We have an extra room at the back of our house and the previous owner neglected to install a heat/cooling register in it. The first two winters in our home this little heater was the only source of heat for that room, other than drifting in from the main house. Our Cockatiels call this little room their home so they love us for their personal little heater.

Does it really work?

You betcha it does, we set the temp to 73 to keep the birds warm as the heater sets about 5 feet from their cages. We did have to add another heater in there last winter as it was a brutal one, with temps going for weeks and never coming above the mid teens. Heck the house was cold too and I had to keep the fireplace cranked the whole time to keep us warm too.

Just two weeks ago the heater stopped working ;( I was mad but I needed to keep the birds warm. Being a hands on type guy I tore it apart just to see if I could perhaps fix it. Well lo and behold it was caked with dust all over the inside. I took it too......

ecanestri says "Must be blowing heat directly on me" about Lasko 5365 Ceramic Compact Heater

The Lasko is a good heater; however, I it takes a very long time to heat an entire room even with baseboard heat flowing. I keep the heater blowing directly onto me about 2ft away. You probably should not do this but, that is how I stay warm. I keep it blowing for about 10 minutes then I will shut it down. in 10 minutes turn it back on. If I had to do this purchase over I would go for something more efficient in heating a larger area. Overall I do not hate the product.
...

Me and my husband got one to save on our heating bills and this thing is great. We got another one for the bedroom. It comes with a remote that has all the settings on it not just on and off like other ones do. You can set to a certain temp. and it moves side to side. We haven't had to have our house heat on as high and it's savings us a lot. Before our heater was running day and night and we were still freezing. We love this heater. It's perfect.
...

It is a great product and I really enjoy it. It is convienient and light-weighted and it is not noisy at all and have all the speeds I want. It is very safe and can be moved around easily. I like the white color although there are many colors that we can choose from. The price is not expensive and is easily affordable for many people. It is really a good buy and I suggest people to buy it.
...

This is a terrific little heater. It has safety features and the fan turns off when it reaches a certain temperature and/or is left on. It is a convenient size and fits in just about any space. I can use it at the office or at home. This product puts out a lot of heat for a ceramic heater!
...

I have never had much faith in these space heaters. I've heard of so many fires from them being tipped over. Some of them had a switch that turns them off it tipped. I am a believer in the small electric lap robes when you sit in a chair. You can have the room cooler and still be comfy under your lap robe....

Lasko 5365 Ceramic Compact Heater is a great overall item. I loved what I got for that price. It rotates and that seems to help an awful lot in distributing the heat throughout the entire room. I have one of these only for the living room and don't bother turning the heat on and jacking up the gas bill.
...

I love my heater. It warms the bottom level of my condo very well. My heating bill is $45 lower since I got the heater. The only negative is that it is raised and therefore will not keep you warm very much below the knees unless you place it somewhere higher than floor level....

I have experiences with THIS particular model (pole mounted) and another Lasko model that is not pole mounted. Lasko makes a model that looks just like this, but it sits on the floor. It functions just as this model featured here, but it blows much, much harder. I've owned a couple of both and have found that this model on the pole does not blow very hard... therefore it struggles to heat even a small space.

I could not locate the better-performing "floor model" on this site, but it can be found most anywhere (Lowes, Target, etc). It retails for around $50....

This is really a great heater. It really saves on the electric bill in the winter-- love the thermostat feature. We've got three in the house and it saves on our central heat use. The only thing bad about it is you CAN'T lay on the floor beside it and stay warm since it's off the floor. But if you're anywhere else in the room, you're toasty warm!...
