When someone says Las Vegas the first thing people think of is gambling, however Las Vegas has so much more to offer then just gambling, they have all kinds of shows, entertainment, beautiful sights shopping and much more.

In Las Vegas there is so much to do and see besides gambling, there is no way you could ever get bored. I go there once a year and I always find something new to do or see. They have a lot of free things to see and they have many tours for so many things. They have things to do for everyone no matter what age you are. There are many beautiful places to go and see around Vegas. They have tours that you can go on to the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead which are extremely nice, the one we did included a dinner cruise on Lake Mead and it really nice I suggest anyone going there they should do it. You can even go on a tour to the Grand Canyon, I have not done it yet but I do want to do it soon. The tours are nice because someone else does the driving...
...

We just came back (2/15-2/18) from Vegas; been there 3 times before. Liked Vegas very much before, but we will never go back again! Be warned. This city has become a horrible place where only mindless greed, ugliness, and out and out fleecing of visitors now exist.

It used to be reasonably good slot machine gambling town.Though one never won much, they paid enough so that you could stretch your gambling budget till you left. Not any more! They have made payouts so horrendously bad; your money goes out so fast, you won't believe it. Their machines are noe far, far worse than local casino machines (for example, Kansas City where we live). They have also put in machines that make you put in such big amounts (i.e. $3 per spin on penny machines!) Casinos also used to give you good coupon books with good discounts on many things, various trinket gifts, and cheap foods....they are all gone! They also charge extra on top of stated room rates (we paid $7.50 per day as "resort fee" for using their...
...

Vegas is where I fell in love... I went on a spur of the moment trip with someone that I had worked with in the past, someone I never even knew particularly well. He was trying to organize a trip with people he knew in Houston (where I lived at the time). I thought it would be exciting to take a wild trip to Vegas with people I had never even met, so I said what the hell. The trip consisted of 4 people - my friend, myself, his best friend, and another friend of their's (female). Amongst the crazy, unreal fantasy world of Vegas I dropped all of society's mores and just opened myself up to new experiences and new perspectives. Now I am engaged and living in Seattle with that best friend. I couldn't be happier! One day we will take a pilgramage to Vegas and the MGM grand, but we will not be getting married in any of the fabulous, chessey wedding chapels....

sandpat says "surprisingly family friendly" about Las Vegas

One of the biggest surprises about Las Vegas was how family oriented it has become. I put off a trip there for years because I had 4 children and opted for cruise vacations instead, thinking of Vegas as an adults only playground. When a too-good-to-pass-up opportunity to go came along, I did enough research to convince myself that there would be a FEW family things to do (expecting most of that to be eating if nothing else...) and kept my fingers crossed. I was so surprised - the hotels almost all had entertainment for the kids (aged 3 to teens). Plus there were so many fun things to see and do in the city itself - go carts, video arcades, the great outdoor shows on the strip, acrobats on Freemont street...my adult companion and I found ourselves doing double shifts so that we could squeeze in some grown-up time at the casino downstairs after tucking exhausted kids into bed for the night....

chefsgirl says "MonBelAmi is the best in-door wedding chapel in LasVegas" about Las Vegas

I wass married at MonBelAmi wedding chapel in Las Vegas and I really feel it is the best independant in-door wedding chapel in Vegas. I had heard good and bad about alot of chapels, but this one seemed to have the best reviews so we went for it and don't have 1 regret. The chapel is absolutely stunning; not one bit of tacky anything anywhere. They have a wide range of packages to choose from,to fit any budget or ammenities desired. You feel like the only bride on the planet on your wedding day. Our DVD is fantastic, and our portraits are the best. They have so many areas for beautiful photo ops and their souns system is the best $ can buy. They even let you bring your own music cd's and mix them to your specifications. You can have the flowers and colors of your choice with most packages too.

The only 2 things I didn't like was 1:the photographer handing my husband a "tip" envelope and requesting he put $60 in it. Well, he only got $20, It is totally rude to tell the bride & groom what...
...

I don't honestly feel much of a draw towards Vegas.

I don't gamble for one thing, which leaves me with a scant 1% of the local "attractions" to attract me, and I don't go in for fakery or shams, which pretty much wipes out 100% of Vegas.

What the attraction? I dunno. I can certainly think of an entire world of better ways to lose my money...

Happy trails!

...

I recently visted Las Vegas and it was amazing! I stayed on fremont st. which is the "old strip". It was still very nice and there are plenty of casino's there too!! I did take the trolly over to the strip almost everyday! It was very inexpensive for the day. Venitian is amazing, the paintings on the ceiling is a must see and go on a gondola ride!! I would reccommend not using taxis if at all possible, very very expensive....

I have lived in Las Vegas for about two years so here is my guide for my favorite things to do while you are in Las Vegas. Las Vegas is such a great destination for everyone because there is so much to do and such a wide variety of places to visit. If you are traveling on a budget, I have some options to save money and still have fun. If you are going for a luxurious vacation, you can find that in Vegas too.

1. Getting there is easy

Vegas is such an easy drive from California (I did it in about 4 hours), but many airlines also offer great deals on quick flights. Fly during the week to get the best deals, and avoid arriving on a Friday or leaving on a Sunday because those are when the prices are higher. Also, make sure you get to the airport on time. Partying all night is no excuse for missing a flight. Besides, if you get there early you can always play the slots in the airport lobby.

2. Get a hotel off the Strip

The first thing to think about is where to stay. My feelings...
...

Karaoke630 says "Great... as long as you don't go during the summer..." about Las Vegas

I went to Las Vegas during the Summer of 2007 for my honeymoon and sometimes I really don't know if that was a mistake. Las Vegas is really fun...at night. When we were there it was just TOO hot to go walking around during the day and waaay too expensive to take a taxi anywhere. If you do go during the summer, plan to stay at a hotel that has a lot of stuff to do like shopping and eating inside the actual building. My favorite hotel/casino was Ceasars Palace. Not only was the hotel beautiful, but there was so much to do inside that you didn't feel guilty about never leaving the building. When you go, you MUST go to a Cirque du Soleil show. Any of them will do and they will cost you a pretty penny for the tickets, but mark my words...they are worth every single dime you spend to get in....
