HIP is the MAC of the drugstore beauty products! When L'Oreal came out with this line of shadows I was thrilled! These shadows go on smooth and don't need a primer to make it last long or show up with a high intensity! The colors are also beautiful. They have duos that are both matte and metallic. My favorite is the blue duo! One thing that I don't like about this product is that it buys quickly and the stores don't stock up quick enough! Another thing that I don't like is the slow production of new colors! I'd like to see a nice true hot pink color in a matte along with a hot pink shimmer! But I'm sure that's coming along. There's a brown shimmer and gold shimmer duo that helps to give you the perfect smoky eye. I'd recommend the blue duo, the brown and gold shimmer, and the lime green metallic and olive green matte duo! These colors are the three that most resemble MAC products. I understand that HIP is a bit pricey for a drugstore beauty product it is excellent! I'm very impressed with...

I only use L'Oreal HIP eyeshadow. I don't recommend it for the person looking for just a touch of color. I have several pots of the double eyeshadows that I use in combination with one another. I especially love the metallic series. I use the silver alone or as a highlight to black, blue, purple, turquoise. It gives me such a dramatic look that I'm never overlooked, even in a dimly lit bar. They give me excellent results without breaking the bank. I will never use another eyeshadow. Looks really good in layers with lighter colors on the inside eyelid.

This product provides a lot of color options, but there are very few that I have found that I personally use on a regular basis. Most of the colors are too dramatic for me as I prefer a more natural look when I wear makeup. However, I have purchased this product as a gift for a family member, and she loves it. She especially loves the gold color, which works really good with her skin tone.

I prefer the colors that are more natural and less on the bright side. I use the purple and mauve hued colors, but I have found it doesn't take a lot of the product to acheive the look I want.

The one thing I have noticed about this product is that once it is applied, the color stays in place and lasts for quite a while. This makes it nice to use for a day at the office when you want a look to still be there when the 5 o'clock whistle sounds. I'm sure it would also work great for the night life scene since you could apply it a little thicker for a more dramatic look, and I expect it would...

I purchased 2 of the L'Oreal HIP Eyeshadow duo's. The colors are beautiful and yes, high pigment. I do find the shadows to be high quality, lovely colors, and long lasting, especially when layered on top of a good shadow base. But, because of the high pigmentation I think it's best left for people who are very good at make up application and techniques. I don't see this as a con. This is very good eyeshadow, BECAUSE of the pigmentation and quality. It's just if you aren't the best at applying and blending, these maybe a little too harsh.

Of course, I don't discourage anyone from getting these shadows and playing around and trying things out and finding a way to wear them. If you can apply them properly, you have a wonderful quality make up that will last and look beautiful. Practice makes perfect and these shadows would look perfect with the proper application techniques. I bought the L'Oreal HIP eyeshadow duo in blue a while ago, and it is my favorite blue eyeshadow. You can't compare the quality to MAC, but with a good base, it can be very pigmented and lasts a long time. For the price, I think its pretty good, especially if you get these during 'buy one get one free' deals.

just as advertised, the HIP colors are very intense. i usually use the dark shade as a lid liner applied with a thin brush and the lighter shade to shadow the rest of my eyelid. it stays on all day.

for the artistic, you can really do a lot of creative coloring. the powder can be applied as darkly as a liquid liner, or more softly as a highlighter.

Okay, I'm not even going to try to compare the quality of drugstore brands to MAC, or even say that HiP is the best makeup ever, but I will say this boldly: If I can't get to the MAC counter or boutique in my area, or let's face it, money's tight this month and I'd rather be responsible like pay my bills or eat, I hit the discount drugstores and buy L'Oreal's HiP line. The quality of HiP comes closest to the high quality eyeshadows like MAC. The pigment colors are so smooth, beautifuly rich and saturated! Just like MAC's shadows, a little goes a long way. For the price(and especially when the store's are having a sale and it's "buy 1, get one 50% off/ free" week, I can buy 2 eyeshadows for under $15-$20...add a discount coupon to the mix and it's time to do the dance of joy!) I've mixed HiP's colors with MAC shadows and they blend beautifully. I know that not everyone is going to agree with this review, and not every person has positive experiences with every makeup line. ......

I picked up some of the Loreal HIP eye shadow over the weekend because I love to try new things and I have a serious weakness for makeup. The colors are beautiful and they have a huge range of colors for just about every individual. What surprised me immediately was the intensity of the shadow. I was expecting to have to cake it on like every other eye shadow in my arsenal, but this went on just as strong as it appeared in the compact. That was great for me, but I can see how that might be a little much for someone that likes things more natural....

L'oreal HIP eye shadows are beautiful. The pigments are as bold and interesting as those MAC makes. The only difference I find between the two products is HIP eye shadows do not stay on all day. You need to re-apply once or twice throughout the day. I have not had any problems with irritation with this product. Eye make application is my favorite creative art, and seeing as I don't have the money for MAC, I use these L'Oreal shadows every day. Some of the duo's are not perfect colors together, but it's easy to mix and match because they are so affordable. They allow me to have fun at a low cost. I would highly recommend this product....

When HIP first came out wth their eyeshadow duos, I was ecstatic. The colors looked amazing and the intensity thrilled me.

I ran out at the first BUY ONE GET ONE FREE and purchased the duo called something like Spirit. It had two blues in it- a Sapphire type blue.

I put on a nice heavy eyeshadow base to protect my eyes and put on the shadow as soon as I got a chance. The look was fantastic and I was so happy.

About a half hour later, right as I was snapping photos to show my makeup friends online, my eyes started to burn. After a few more minutes my eyes began to water terribly and then the burning increased.

Quickly I ran into the bathroom and washed it off, but the damage was done.

I have had light reactions occasionally to certain eyeshadows and products, but I have never had ANYTHING this HORRIBLE.

Through the night, my eyes began to be in so much pain that I could not sleep. The best way I can describe it is to say that it was like having a severe migraine on the eyelid!

I absolutely adore the HIP eyeshadows. They are all very vibrant and go on very smooth. The colors do not fade out too much throughout the day. The colors also do not smear or smudge easily. Although it does not obviously apply as well as MAC, it is a superb MAC alternative for a much cheaper price. Very affordable and the color combos are very fun....
