rmcdono1 says "LG makes another "just-okay" phone. " about LG - Rumor Cell Phone

I purchased the LG Rumor at Sprint with a new contract two years ago. I was excited to finally have a full keyboard. The phone continually shut itself off and I was angry I was missing texts/phone calls. I was also paranoid to use the alarm clock for fear it would shut itself off by morning. After a year, the phone would not charge unless it was held a certain way. Sprint said the Rumor had this problem with the charging port becoming loose so that it would not connect with the charger properly. My second Rumor has the same problem shutting itself off and the charger is becoming loose.

This phone is durable and a good size. The screen sometimes freezes for a second when you slide the keyboard out. The internet is extremely slow and pointless for anything more than checking the weather or traffic. The camera quality is not very good. Also, the picture view is very small. If you take a picture then send it to another phone, the picture will appear with more space than what it appears...
...

My twenty three year old daughter works for sprint, and she surpised me with a blue LG rumor for christmas. I was completely cell phone illerate, but within two hours I learned all the extras about it. First, I learned how to do my contact. I also learned how to do the speed dial. I have my most called people on speed dial and i just hit the number they are assigned, hit talk, and voila! I am talking to my favorites. I also have a one year old granddaughter, and I love to take pictures of her and send it to other family members. I can even camcord her and send them as well. "Another good feature is the alarm. I had a stroke three years ago and I have short term memory loss. The alarm helps me to remember appointments, when to take my medicine, when to check on my dinner and so on. I also like that i can have different ring tones for everyone. If I don't want to talk to someone, I can just ignore it. I love my phone and would recommend it.
...

Tiramisu says "Turns Itself Off" about LG - Rumor Cell Phone

The LG Rumor phone has a problem where it turns itself off. This is a serious issue because unless you are constantly checking your phone, you have no idea that the phone is off & nobody can reach you. What's the point of carrying a cell phone if the phone is off?

We purchased two of these phones for different family members and both phones have this problem. One of the phones has been replaced twice already and both of those phones had the same problem. We've talked to others who have this phone and researched on the web, finding everyone has this problem. If you get this phone definitely pay the monthly fee for additional insurance because you will need to replace this phone.

I was very disappointed because I thought LG made quality products, but I was wrong. I do not recommend that anyone buy the LG Rumor. This phone is a paper weight! Please take this phone off the market.
...

lgas says "Has all the features I need and more" about LG - Rumor Cell Phone

I have had my rumor telephone for two years and have really enjoyed it. I know there are phones out there with the latest and greatest features- but #1 I do not need to carry my computer in my pocket, and #2 I am not willing to shell out all that money every month for the convenience of having every single application at my finger tips.

I just want to be able to talk and text easily. My kids love playing with the fun features- camera, video, voice recording etc.

I do like that I can customize the ringer for different callers- makes it super easy to know who is calling as I am trying to dig the phone out of the bottom of my purse.

I love the slide feature- flip phones just don't work for me- I've got little kids that think the flip phone is a toy- and have lost two to them- I love the full key board- it sure makes texting easy.

I've had other phones in the past that didn't hold a charge very long- this battery lasts forever- i probably only charge it once every three days or so!
...

this is a great texting phone.... the slide out qwerty keyboard is a great feature! i havent had any problems with it so far and i have had it for two years... my only problem that i hope is fixed in the rumor 2 is the camera.... the pictures you take on the camera are ok in quality. i think it could use a night time feature.... if it's a little dark, your pics arent going to come out well.... other than the camera, i have no problems with the phone =)...

My husband bought me the LG Rumor for Christmas last year and it has been great! I hated texting on my old phone because it didn't have a QWERTY keyboard, so it was just a hassle. This phone slides out to reveal the QWERTY kepboard and is really easy to use. This is the perfect phone for someone who wants more features, but also someone who does not want a phone that you practically need a degree before you can use it! My husband is a real techy, so he does great with the more advanced phones, but I do not need an extravagant phone with all the bells and whistles. So, for me, this phone works great and has some wonderful little features. There's a tip calculator, so you never have to guess what you should leave for a tip. This was the first phone I have seen that on. The camera takes decent pictures and even does video. The phone also has a slot for a memory card which will allow you to save more pictures and video. It has really cool screensavers and backgrounds included...
...

mrsbaker07 says "Rumor from sprint is the best phone I've ever had!" about LG - Rumor Cell Phone

When sprint first came out with the LG Rumor, I couldn't be more anxious for it to come! I love how it has the full key board and it makes its way easier for me to write my e-mails from my phone, to me it's like having a mini laptop that fits in my pocket. Also no as expensive as palm piolots, or black berrys. An every day person such as my self can actually afford this phone. It has these capabilities: camera, camcorder, tip calculator, unit converter, mp3 player (and able to put memory card in phone), games, screen savers, im and e-mail, call tones, usb mode, alarm clock, blue tooth, memory card manager, schedluer, voice memo, note pad, world clock, a d-day converter. you can update your firm ware right from your phone. You are also able to block the internet if you decide that's something you don't want. Able to store over 500 contacts. This phone is so user friendly that when i got it i didnt have to use the manual to learn how to use my phone. I recommend this phone to my friends...
...

cimmerian says "Great green phone for texting and chatting" about LG - Rumor Cell Phone

I love my little green rumor. I drop it frequently and have sat on it. My dogs have chewed on it and it is still working like new. Although the finish is quite worn. It is my second one as the first one which went through 15 days of white water rafting in the Colorado, rockhounding throughout the Southwest, and the dust of Black Rock City was stolen. THe guy used it to pound out about 100 texts a day and used it for over 1500 minutes in a matter of dies. My new one is also a trooper, although after 9 months the keyboard is acting up. Thankfully I have insurance. The keyboard is amazing I can punch in letters at a rate that makes my Treo, IPhone, and even Alias using friends jealous. No you won't want to spend much time on the internet with this phone and it doesn't have a lot of applications, but you can save that for your laptop and just enjoy this great little phone. Appealing and inexpensive. It is great for adult women or men and even better for teenagers who love to text. With sprints...
...

My LG Rumor is a good little phone. It has great reception even without an external antenna. My last phone wouldn't work inside most stores! This on is great! I like the keyboard and use the calendar everyday. It is easy to use and very functional. My daughter loves the mp3 player she always want to listen to music in the stores and it keeps her busy. The camera ok. The camcorder is good to take short video clips. I would recommend it to anybody. The only thing that is the problem is the earbud port on the side of the phone. The is lose fitting and slips out easily....

I have had the LG rumor for almost two years now and I love it. I have not had any problems with it. I'm a mobile groomer so it gets carried in and out of my van and into the back of my van then thrown up in the basked while I'm working multiple times a day and it has not quit in me yet. I use it as my GPS and it is awesome!!! I use the e-mail on it multiple times a day for my job also, and for personal reasons. I love that the phone will alert me when I have a new e-mail also. I recently started an e-bay business, so while I'm out working my grooming job I can check on that email also to keep ontop of things at home. The camera works great, no flash so you need goodl light to use it, but the pics still turn out good. The full qwerty keyboard was the reason I bought the phone because I text all day every day and it is the best thing to come to cell phones. I have never had any problems with the buttons sticking or coming off at all....and i have dropped it MANY times!! ...
...

The LG Rumor is one of the worst phones I have ever used. The keyboard is great, when the letters actually show up on the screen. Half the time I type on it I end up with partial words.. Or the phone will send texts halfway through typing them... if you press the 'e' and 'r' keys too quickly in that order, you will send your text. The camera is trash, the slider is very toylike, there have been constant software bugs and I have had my rumor replaced 7 times this year alone. not to mention the previous 4 the year I got it.

The good things. I can select multiple contacts, emails, files, pictures, etc for move or deletion.
...

With this phone's slide out keyboard texting, instant messaging and e-mailing are all easy to use. When the phone is open it goes straight to the messaging screen to save time. The camera on the phone is pretty good, however I dislike the fact that there is no flash, making pictures in the dark not even worth taking. It has 100 slots for text messages this number isn't too big or too small, however, there is no delete multiple when it comes to deleting texts, if you like to save texts you need to do it one by one. The phone also comes with a USB cord, making music transfering from the computer pretty easy, and the memory port can hold up to 4GB of memory, making the phone as good as an mp3 player. I have had the phone for some time now, it is very durable, I haven't come across any real problems.
...
