I loved this phone when I first recieved it. It was great! I loved all the great functions and it was so cute! BUT it wasn't long until the screen easily got scratched just from me lightly setting it down. It didn't need much to have the screen messed up. And sometimes if you get a call and you accidentally slide the phone up to quickly then your phone might turn off at times. Or maybe you slide it down to quickly and it shuts off. I didn't have these problems at first, but it wasn't long befor they started. Don't get me wrong. I still like my phone. I just wish these problems weren't occurring from time to time. The phone shutting off from opening or closing it is re occuring but not at an extreme. It only happens every now and then. If you're gentle with your phone then this is a phone for you, but if you're like me and you're not SUPER careful with it then maybe you should think again befor buying it.
...

This cell phone is ok. It has many great features...pictures, internet, Vcast for music and videos, etc. However, it is a "slide open" phone and when you are talking, if your face hits the keys, it messes things up. No wonder it was free when I signed up for 2 years of service! It is stylish and relatively thin and comes in great colors, but, can be very irritating to use. Mine was free, so I guess I shouldn't complain, but, I wouldn't pay for one.

I would get it for free, but, pay for one....probably not!
...

I loved this phone. i had it for two years and decided to upgrade to a qwerty, but i adore the chocolate (mine was pink.) LOVE the touch-sensitive keys, keypad is easy to use and never wore off. Cute, stylish, not bulky at all! I adored the fact that it was a music phone, and could easily store 500 songs (with a micro sd card, not included.) I love slide-up phones, and so it was definately great for me. Ringtones weren't too bad, although i'd reccommend buying your own. Since the screen was all flat and there wasn't a slide-up pad, you do end up getting fingerprints all over the glossy screen (but it was worth it to me.) Camera was good, no delay at all! Plenty of options, and can take movies. I got a little tired of being restricted to a t9, but overall it was good for when i had it (ages 15-17.) Towards the end of the two years, the keys started to act up a little bit and scroll through menus on its own, but it was very trustworthy for the life of the phone.
...

Quick View: I am a huge fan of LG cell phones but the LG - Chocolate VX8500 Cell Phone really disappointed me. I finally just went and upgraded and I am so glad to say adios to my little red trouble maker of a phone.

About the LG - Chocolate VX8500 Cell Phone

I am not going to get all techy and list all the features of this phone. It does have a music player and a so-so camera. It is feature rich although my Black Cherry phone lacks a speakerphone which is pretty basic. The phone is small and rectangular and the top slides up to reveal a small keyboard. The keyboard is one of my biggest complaints. It's small, hard to see, and is so sensitive that I often end up dialing three of one number just by touching a key. There is a sensitivity monitor that one can adjust but mine still screwed up all the time.

I am hearing impaired but can easily talk on the phone with no hearing devices. I still wanted to get a hearing aid compatible phone in case the need arose. This is but my hearing aids don't......

I got this phone as a free phone when I joined Verizon. I love the service features, the camera, call quality, menu and operation. I do not like the touch sensitive menu buttons or the spin wheel. Both are frustrating to use and I often end up selecting something I did not intend to because of these buttons. This is extremely frustrating when you are playing a downloaded game, responding to a text message, or going through an IVR menu on a call. Also, I do a lot of text messaging and the text prediction is not fantastic. I find that I am constantly having to switch text entry methods to avoid sending people gibberish in my messages. I do not use the MP3 capability of this phone. I am actually looking at paying full retail for a different phone within the next month or two so that I can get away fromt his handset. I only gave this phone 3 stars because I love Verizon's service and LG phones as a rule....

Glad we went with the LG Chocolate VX8550 from Verizon. You want to buy on-line. Visit the local store to see the colors and ask the questions then buy on-line. If you have questions call the 800# for support. They ship overnight. Customer service walked me through the steps to transfer my phone books on 4 phones. Didn't cost me anything. Verizon has great plans and super coverage. Even works in my basement and better yet works in the elevators where my daughters go to college at UW Milwaukee. The VX 8550 is priced better then the new version and fits better and it is a slider not a flip phone. Easy to upgrade for music. We bought 3 for the family....

This phone looks sharp. the display is easy to read. The VCast music is handy and easy to use, although not as nice as an iPod. The controls are very touchy, and no matter how I try to set them, I never seem to get them they way i want them. Case in point: the camera - Takina a photo, you hit the enter key; IF you are lucky you get the photo WHEN you want it. the Keys are touchy. Oherwise a good phone. Especially if you get it at a low price - I got it at a premium when the Cherry Chocolate LG was new....

i love how small and slender this phone is. however, i don't really care for the touch sensitive buttons. seems like it is easy to by accident touch those keys when in a call. Also the battery only lasts a day, if that. It could be that i'm not tech savy enough, but it just seems like it isn't work the money. i want my old phone back....

Verizon Wireless' LG Chocolate is a terrible choice. When it first came out Verizon made it sound like the best phone out there when in fact it's far from it. This phone was always messing up. The battary never stayed charged, it was always freezing up, even the speaker phone didn't work most of the time. I exchanged this phone five times before I finally bought a different phone. ...

I am reviewing the LG Chocolate. This is an excellent phone. I have had it for over a year now, and no problems with it. A friend did tell me that they left theirs in their car last winter and it ruined the sensor thing because it got so cold, but that was their own fault. I love this phone and hope it lasts a long time so I dont have to change to a different one!...
